Peter put on an earpiece and contacted Gwen.

"Did you catch up?"

"Not yet." Gwen blasted a flying pumpkin bomb with her palm cannon, the explosives detonating and igniting a fireball high in the sky. The Iron Spider armor flew through the fireball and sped through the night sky.

"I've activated one of Tony's satellites to lock onto Norman. As long as he's still flying, he can't shake me off." The Green Goblin's flight path was displayed on the interface of Gwen's armor mask.

"Uncle Norman, what exactly is going on?"

Peter sighed: "It's probably because he was injected with some kind of top-secret enhancement drug developed by Osborn. The side effects of the drug caused him to split his personality, and now the Green Goblin personality is in control of his body."

Peter checked the injuries of the people present and sprayed hemostatic gel on the man whose arm had been torn off to prevent him from dying from excessive blood loss.

"He's become ruthless now, so it's okay to go all out. Don't put yourself in danger."

I know what I'm doing.

Gwen's Iron Spider armor drew a platinum arc in the night sky, its thrusters at full throttle, chasing after the trail of flame.

Green Goblin's skateboard flew north along the Hudson River, with Gwen in her Iron Spider armor chasing after him, crossing the riverbank of Hell's Kitchen, skimming the treetops of Riverside Park, and passing the river bend near Columbia University.

During the chase, Green Goblin's skateboard was hit by Gwen's palm cannon, and one of its thrusters was already smoking.

He slowed down, forced to descend to a height of less than a hundred meters above the Hudson River. Gwen swooped down from above, her mechanical spider legs extending and piercing the tail fin of her skateboard.

"You can't escape, Green Goblin." Her voice came through the armor's loudspeaker.

Green Goblin yanked the skateboard, trying to throw her off.

Gwen shot out a web from her other hand, which stuck to his arm, and she yanked hard. Green Goblin's body was ripped off the skateboard, and the two of them crashed onto the George Washington Bridge. The skateboard went out of control, crashed into a bridge tower, and exploded into a fireball.

Green Goblin got up from the ground, his mask askew, revealing half of his pale face. His tactical uniform was torn in several places by the bridge surface, but there was no bleeding—Green Goblin serum made his skin as tough as Kevlar, and small-caliber bullets could only leave a bruise on it.

He was panting heavily as he pulled several pumpkin bombs from his belt.

"Don't come any closer!" he yelled.

Gwen didn't stop; she walked towards him, her mechanical spider legs unfolding behind her like four sharp scythes.

Green Goblin threw the bombs at the traffic on the bridge. Gwen's spider senses went off, and she turned around abruptly, firing a barrage of palm cannons from both hands. The bombs detonated one by one before they even hit the ground.

The explosions bloomed like orange flowers in the night sky, but the shockwave still shattered the windows of several cars. One after another, cars went out of control and crashed into guardrails or the cars in front, their front ends deformed and smoke billowing from their hoods.

The sound of a child crying could be heard coming from a car that had crashed into the guardrail.

Gwen rushed towards the car, her mechanical spider legs bracing against the body, and ripped the deformed door off. A man was holding a little boy, his face covered in blood, but still conscious.

Gwen pulled them out of the car and put them in a safe place on the bridge.

"Don't move, wait for rescue," she said.

She turned to look for the Green Goblin. The Green Goblin had already run dozens of meters away and was trying to climb over the railing to escape to the lower bridge deck.

Gwen shot out a web that wrapped around his ankle, pulling him off the railing. The Green Goblin crashed heavily onto the bridge.

Gwen walked up, stepped on his back, and shot out several spider silk threads to firmly fix his hands and feet to the asphalt ground.

"I told you, you can't escape."

Just then, a golden spark tore through the air above the bridge.

Peter emerged from the portal, still wearing the same dark gray wool coat, though now stained with blood.

He glanced at the scene—the Green Goblin stuck to the ground in cobwebs, the smoking car, the man holding a child, and the bridgehead with flashing police lights in the distance.

"How's it going on your end?" Peter asked.

"It's under control," Gwen said. "The explosion just now caused several chain-reaction car crashes, and many people were injured."

Peter stopped wasting time and split up with Gwen to begin the rescue work.

Gwen was in charge of the severely damaged vehicles. She tore apart the deformed vehicle structures and then carried the trapped passengers away from the vehicles one by one to prevent the fuel tanks from catching fire and exploding, thus preventing injuries.

Peter was in charge of some of the simpler rescues.

He organized some uninjured bystanders to help open the deformed car door and rescue the trapped passengers. Then he used hemostatic gel to treat those who were bleeding severely.

The sound of sirens grew closer in the distance, but the traffic on the bridge was completely blocked.

Green Goblin lay on the bridge, his face pressed against the rough asphalt. He was still struggling and was about to succeed.

If Gwen were a seasoned Spider-Man who had fought supervillains for years, when facing an extremely powerful individual like the Green Goblin, she should have used her webs to encase him in a cocoon, leaving only his head exposed, instead of simply sticking him to the ground like this.

Spider silk is very strong; a single strand is strong enough to withstand a pulling force of more than ten tons. Even if Gwen herself were to tear a spider silk, it would take a lot of effort.

Needless to say, a large spider web is enough to stop a hundred-ton king if used properly. Anyone with strength at the level of the Hulk simply cannot break free.

But Gwen overlooked one thing.

While Peter and Gwen were busy rescuing people, the Green Goblin struggled again. He curled his fingers, his nails digging into the cracks in the asphalt. His fingertips could feel the boundaries of the tiny particles, and he could feel the rubber material beginning to yield under pressure. He took a deep breath and then exerted force.

Asphalt is not a steel plate; it is a mixture of crushed stone and rubber, with the particles held together by adhesive forces.

When the adhesive force of spider silk exceeds the internal bonding strength of asphalt, it is not the spider silk that breaks, but the road surface.

"Click."

With a crisp sound, he ripped the piece of asphalt, sticky with spider silk—about the size of a palm, covered with road debris and cracks—from the ground.

Black fragments fell from the edge, revealing the grayish-white concrete base underneath.

The Green Goblin's hands are free.

He lay on the ground and ripped the piece of asphalt off his wrist.

The spider silk was still stuck to it, like a silvery-white bracelet.

He didn't immediately untie the bindings on his feet—his fingers reached for his belt, and a pumpkin bomb appeared in his hand.

He watched as a car sped toward the bridge, preparing to rescue Peter, the child he had once regarded as his own son, who was trapped inside.

He loved him so much, but now, this child has betrayed him.

"traitor."

He threw the bomb at Peter with great force, and the sound of the bomb whistling through the air finally caught the attention of Gwen, who was busy rescuing people.

She turned to look at Peter, who was dozens of meters away, and rushed towards him, but it was too late.

"Peter—!"

Peter moved, pushed off the ground with his right foot, tilted his body to the left, grabbed the door handle of the car next to him with his right hand, and with a pull and a roll, he flipped himself into the back of the car.

This was the limit of what he could do before the bomb exploded.

Peter felt as if an invisible giant hammer had struck him on the back.

It wasn't just pain; it felt like my whole body was being lifted off the ground.

His body, along with the car, was propelled sideways by the shockwave. The car crashed into the guardrail, the sounds of twisting metal and shattering glass mingling together.

Peter was thrown from the back of the car, his body flipping in the air, his vision filled with the lights of the bridge, the stars in the night sky, and Gwen, who was launched towards him.

He flew off the bridge.

Peter saw his own reflection falling in the goggles of Gwen's mask.

Gwen couldn't catch him.

A spider silk shot out from Gwen's wrist, as if chasing fate, and headed for Peter's ankle.
