Chapter 112 Life is Hot Because of You

Chapter 112 Life is Hot Because of You

The night breeze in Night City seems to have become even more foul lately, carrying an indelible industrial rust smell, mixed with the pungent odor of prosthetic machine oil and waste chemical reagents, sweeping across the desolate suburban development zone.

The biotechnology company's photovoltaic base is situated on this temporarily deserted wilderness.

Unlike the neon-lit, bustling skyscrapers of the city center, this place is eerily quiet.

The endless expanse of black photovoltaic panels stretches across the barren ground and steel frames, layer upon layer extending to the edge of the night, like a giant black net imprisoning the entire wilderness.

A massive corporate metal sign stands beside the base, its silver alloy surface reflecting the pale moonlight. The blue biotechnology logo, Iogo, is cold and glaring, silently demonstrating the company's monopoly over biological experiments and new energy industries in Night City.

Vito loaded a truck with a heavy load of C7 explosives, played a shouting FM radio program, and slowly drove to the highway outside the base, where he stopped and leaned back in the car to smoke.

Tommasino, always eager for drama, not only gave Vito a truckload of explosives but also opened a stock account for him, advising him to buy up biotechnology stocks at rock-bottom prices.

This is one of Tommasino's little tricks. You, Vito, don't like the company, so I'll let you easily gain wealth in company affairs. That way, Vito will eventually be tied to the company.

Vito didn't need to stealthily move around, nor did he need meticulous planning.

For Vito now, this simply fortified solar power base is hardly a dangerous battlefield; it's just a garbage dump that can be destroyed at any moment.

The evening breeze lifted the hem of his black coat, revealing glimpses of the metallic outline of the sergeant at his waist.

He glanced down at the simple holographic timer on his wrist; the screen flickered with blue light, indicating that there were still three hours until the agreed-upon window for detonating public opinion with Thomasino.

With an absurdly large amount of time, Vito could even play a board game by himself in the solar park.

"It's Vito!"

Vito chuckled softly, his tone casual and relaxed, without a trace of the tension one would expect from a high-risk infiltration, and he even cosplayed Johnny from The Shining.

He stubbed out his cigarette and drove his car into the solar power plant.

This photovoltaic base is the energy core of the biotechnology company in Night City, supporting the power supply of several secret experimental buildings in the surrounding area. It is also a facade project for them to launder their gray industries and present themselves as a new energy technology company.

On the surface, it appears to be a compliant clean energy base, but underground, hidden pipelines continuously supply power to clandestine workshops for drug manufacturing and live experiments, concealing countless shady dealings.

Because of its significant strategic value, the base has a high level of security for this area, with infrared cameras, electromagnetic barriers, and patrol drones deployed on the outer perimeter, and more than a dozen fully armed corporate security personnel stationed inside.

But this defensive system, which was enough to crush an ordinary mercenary squad, was completely useless against Vito.

Vito swaggered in and drove right in.

Two patrol drones hovering at low altitude were the first to detect the car noise, their red lights flashed instantly, and the mechanical alarm was about to sound.

The next instant, Vito subtly moved his fingertip, and the vehicle's onboard miniature electromagnetic pulse device was silently activated.

Two pale blue electromagnetic waves quietly spread out, precisely enveloping the two drones.

The mechanical aircraft in mid-air suddenly froze, its indicator lights flashed wildly, its circuitry burned through, and it lost all power. Like a kite with a broken string, it fluttered lightly to the ground, crashing into a pile of rubble and becoming nothing more than scrap metal. It couldn't even send out a warning signal for a second.

Vito didn't even glance at the wrecked drone and continued driving forward.

The patrolling security personnel inside the base quickly discovered the anomaly; three lasers pierced the darkness and precisely locked onto Vito's magician.

Three corporate security guards, clad in black tactical armor and wielding pulse rifles, quickly surrounded them. Their prosthetic eyes lit up with red locking cursors, and their tone was cold and forceful.

"Unauthorized personnel are prohibited from entering! Get out of the vehicle immediately, cover your head, squat down, and submit to inspection!"

The three men stood in a triangular formation, guns loaded, their prosthetic muscles taut, ready to fire at any moment—a standard corporate security encirclement tactic.

Vito stopped the car, glanced at them, his face expressionless, even showing a hint of nonchalant laziness.

"I've loaded a truck with explosives. Do you want to inspect the goods?"

The three security guards tensed up instantly, and one of them shouted sternly.

"Get out of the vehicle! Or be shot immediately!"

Vito got out of the car, and under the cover of the car door, he drew his gun and fired a burst of shots, leaving several large holes in the chests of the three security guards.

"The security for biotechnology is indeed better in the city than in your rural-urban fringe areas."

The renowned security forces at the company's base were utterly ineffective against him, not even worthy of his serious attention.

The gun attracted the security team, but the outcome was predictable. Vito's lone wolf form never talked about tactics or showed mercy. The company security guards were no different from henchmen in front of him.

After Vito finished clearing out the last security guard, he suddenly felt a chill down his spine.

A security captain equipped with S.A.S ...

Pfft!

The fabric was torn.

Ding!

The mantis knife didn't penetrate Vito's body even a fraction of an inch.

Vito turned and used the butt of his gun to knock the security captain back, then casually tossed the sergeant into the car and pulled out a punk knife.

"Wuhu, if you were some Oda Santai, I might take you a little more seriously. May I ask your name? Mr. Tailor Shop Partner."

The security captain was on high alert; the subcutaneous armor on the smiling man in front of him exceeded military grade.

He activated his prosthetic eye to scan Vito, trying to find the weaknesses in this armor.

"You're looking at my armor? You have a good eye. With a few more layers, this armor will be on the verge of immortality. I was planning to let Dogshit Adam try it out first, but I didn't expect you to be the first to experience it."

The security captain activated the Sinwistan again, attempting to get behind Vito and attack the back of his neck.

The flow of time was instantly slowed down dramatically, and the sounds of the wind and the subtle noises of machinery all became slow and stagnant.

We're almost there!

Pfft!

The punk knife pierced the security captain's neck.

"I'm not a giant, why are you staring at the back of my neck?"

The corporate hegemony of Night City is best at using expensive equipment and sophisticated security to create a deterrent effect, intimidating struggling mercenaries and civilians. But in the face of true power, all of this becomes paper.

The security captain wasn't quite dead yet; he watched helplessly as Vito unloaded boxes of bombs from the car.

"Remember to call your friends so they can come watch the fireworks!"

After saying that, Vito started digging and digging in the small photovoltaic park.

He placed C7 explosives under many photovoltaic panels, followed by power transmission equipment. His movements were casual and skillful, without any cautious restraint. He casually unpacked the explosives and attached them piece by piece to the steel frame of the high-voltage main control cabinet, the main power transmission cable support, and the energy conversion core.

Soon, all the key locations in the core energy zone were set up.

Vito dusted off his hands and turned his gaze to the most conspicuous spot in the base: the giant biotechnology signboard, tens of meters high.

Vito, carrying the last three most powerful C7 explosives, walked to the bottom of the giant sign.

He raised his hand and firmly fixed the three explosive charges to the core of the sign's base, locking the load-bearing steel frame tightly to ensure that at the moment of the explosion, the sign, which symbolized the biotechnology company's facade, would completely shatter and collapse, turning into a pile of scrap metal.

Finally, he put a mark on the C7 bomb.

Press E to defuse the bomb.
