Chapter 2 Mud
Vito killed the mercenary, but he felt no discomfort. On the contrary, he felt a sense of absurdity looking at the shredded flesh mixed with a few pieces of iron on the mercenary's face. He felt as if he had been directly transported into the game.
But now, he feels unwell while eating fried noodles.
Vito had originally hidden the gun in his clothes, but Shigure's gun barrel kept hitting him when he bent over. So he went to a gun shop and asked if they would take Shigure. The gun shop owner said righteously that he would not take guns of unknown origin, while making a five-point gesture on the table.
Vito thought about it and decided that five thousand wasn't bad. He would buy himself a nice outfit and then have a good meal; he was actually quite hungry.
Vito nodded in agreement, but he wanted cash. Seeing how readily he agreed, the gun shop owner immediately took out a wad of cash and handed it to Vito.
Vito counted the money and then said with dissatisfaction.
"How come you only have five hundred when we agreed on five thousand!"
This question baffled the boss. He wondered when he had mentioned five thousand. After a while, he realized that this guy who looked like a top-tier prostitute was actually a newbie just starting out on the streets. He explained.
"It's raining everywhere now, and this isn't anything special. Look at this gun, it looks like it was hit by a .31 light machine gun. And look at these scratches, it looks like it was thrown into a ditch. I'm just being kind-hearted. If you were selling this in Dogtown, you'd probably get kicked out right away!"
Vito was speechless. "Password? You've planted a camera on me, haven't you?" he thought for a moment and said.
"Okay, five hundred it is. Also, give me three standard magazines and two boxes of pistol ammunition, but you have to give me a discount on those!"
The shopkeeper smiled and took out the goods, then accepted the beautiful little euro. Seeing Vito's worried face, he comforted him.
"Don't be discouraged. Working on the streets might make you poorer, but it's better than getting stabbed in the back, right? Where did you work before, Genting?"
Vito immediately got angry. "Damn it, even though I've sculpted a face that looks like Jim Ross Stewart, it's a bit much for you to make such a wild guess that I'm a Teamfight Tactics employee!"
Vito pulled out his uniform and pointed it at the boss, saying, "I'm not selling myself. If I'm selling anything, it's my labor! What the hell are you talking about?!"
The boss spoke tremblingly in the face of Vito's sudden outburst.
"My bad, my bad, calm down, buddy. The NCPD patrols around here all the time. Don't do anything stupid. Consider these bullets a gift. Let's be friends. Put the gun down."
As he spoke, the shopkeeper handed Vito the money in his hand. Vito snatched the banknotes, pointed at the shopkeeper, and backed away step by step before leaving the shop.
The boss spat on the ground and cursed as Vito walked away.
"Damn, this kid's pretty quick! These days, selling anything isn't shameful, what's wrong with this bastard!"
After leaving home, Vito bought himself a set of clothes that fit him well, then found a popular Chinese food stall and, on the owner's advice, ordered fried noodles with the "money back guarantee" policy.
He took a big bite of the fried noodles as soon as they were served, and then vomited it all over the ground.
He coughed for a while before recovering. This fried noodle dish, well, apart from the name, had nothing to do with fried noodles at all. It was practically an attack on Vito's mouth.
Vito felt his breathing and blood circulation activate, he took a breath and then cursed.
"Damn it! Boss, you poisoned me, didn't you? I'm already losing blood!"
When the shopkeeper saw Vito's excessive reaction, he assumed Vito was trying to extort money, so he pointed at Vito with a spoon and started yelling at him.
"What nonsense are you spouting, you little brat? I've been running this business on the street for ten years, and you think I'd poison you? Let me tell you, this is the Tiger Claw Gang's protection. Don't try to scam me!"
Vito felt another urge to draw his gun, but seeing the diners around him enjoying their food, he figured the people of Night City had probably gotten used to calling this chemically-infused plastic a delicacy, so he walked away with a dark expression.
"You little brat, you haven't paid yet!"
Vito turned around and cursed, "Damn it! You have the nerve to charge me for this garbage that doesn't even taste good?"
The stall owner was about to get angry, but seeing that Vito only took one bite and left, he decided not to argue and turned around to pour the remaining fried noodles back to the next person.
Vito's stomach was rumbling, but he felt that if he ate any more of that stuff, he would really die. Now, there was another urgent matter: saving up money to buy a digestive prosthetic.
Starving, Vito walked up to a vending machine and bought a protein bar. It didn't sound so scary; it should be a good temporary snack.
This time, Vito was smarter. He took a small bite of the protein bar, which was still unpalatable, but not to the point of causing him to bleed. So he bit the protein bar into small pieces and swallowed them whole to avoid the strange taste of the protein bar killing the sensory cells on his tongue.
As Vito was eating, a native of Night City came over and handed him a small can of Coca-Cola. He was a medium-sized Latin American man who looked at Vito and said...
"Are you starving? How about we come to my house and have a couple of hot pizzas, honey?"
Vito's face darkened again, and he asked, barely suppressing his anger.
"Should I stab you, or should you stab me?"
Seeing that there was a chance, the man immediately spoke.
"Sure! I have tons of stuff at home, you can play with whatever you want!"
Vito looked around, found a dark alley, and pointed it out to the man.
"I won't go home. You wait for me in that alley."
The man was overjoyed. He never expected to have such good luck today, to be able to meet such a high-class person to play with. He happily entered the alley.
Vito waited until he entered the alley and looked around to make sure no one was paying attention before pulling out his ammunition to check the magazines and then entering the alley.
The man was rubbing his hands together, which were covered in flies, and asked.
"Are you going to take everything off?"
Vito pointed the gun at his head and cursed.
"Get your ass off! Hand over the money, or I'll make your brains spit out from the back of your head!"
The man reluctantly pulled a roll of euros from his pocket and handed it to Vito.
Vito held it in his hand and estimated it to be about thirty or forty pieces. He cursed, "Is that all? Don't force me to search your corpse later!"
The man cried, "I'm not exactly rich, buddy. If I were, I wouldn't be wasting my time in Watson District. I only have a hundred dollars left in my account; this is truly my last bit of money!"
Vito thought for a moment, and realized that this guy did look really poor, so he shouted.
"I'll let you off the hook today. I don't want the money in your account, but consider the money in your hand as punishment for talking nonsense to me. Get lost!"
The man ran out of the alley without looking back. Vito looked at the pile of garbage around him and felt very sad. This Night City was simply a stinking garbage dump. His beautiful heart had turned into a pile of mud after only one day.
Vito walked out of the alley dejectedly. He felt that Night City had turned him into a monster, and he wanted to repent and stop using violence.
after that.
The NCPD received more than a dozen reports from men and women who claimed they had been victims of a honey trap robbery, in which an armed man lured them into an alley and stole all their cash.
It's common knowledge that you have to pay to call the police in Night City, and there are already more than a dozen people who have called the police, so you can imagine how many people don't.
Rumors of the handsome robber from Watson District quickly spread throughout the North District.
Vito, counting a pile of cash, is now grinning in a hotel room.
I cried, but I was faking it, hehe.
