Cyberpunk: I didn't cheat.
Chapter 22 weekend
Inside the restaurant of the Ember Bar.
"The food here is so delicious! I'll have to pack a few portions for my mom later."
Jack said to Vito in a low voice as he ate.
Vito was focused on the salmon in the sauce in front of him, and he nodded.
"Good idea. I suggest adding salmon to Mrs. Wells' menu; it's quite good."
Just as the two were enjoying their dinner, the waiter came to their table and asked them something.
"Sir, would you like some drinks to accompany your meal?"
Jack loosened the non-existent tie around his neck to hide his unease.
"Um, do you have agave here?"
A holographic projection appeared on the menu in the waiter's hand.
"You have excellent taste, sir. Ember has just received the world's finest tequila, Neocimetho, now on special for only 2899 a glass."
Vito was somewhat surprised.
"I just heard about it a while ago, and we've run into each other today? Two drinks, please. Also, another serving of the dishes on our table, we need to pack them up when we leave."
"Yes, sir, enjoy your meal!"
Jack curled his lip.
"Embers are really expensive. I was thinking of bringing Misty along, but I guess she'll feel just as uncomfortable as I do."
Vito laughed.
"Misty is a very down-to-earth girl. If you spent the money you would spend here going out with her to hand out tacos, I reckon she would be smiling more than she is here."
Jack grinned.
"That makes sense. I'm totally smitten with that girl. Sometimes when I go to Old Vie's place, it's just a pretext. I'm actually there to see Misty."
Amidst laughter and conversation, two glasses of sago pearls were brought to the table. The two took a sip, found the taste quite good, clinked glasses, and drank them down in one gulp.
Jack let out a sigh of relief.
"I never thought I could earn so much money in my life, and in just these few days. Vito, you're an amazing person."
Vito finished a piece of salmon and said.
"We've been working so hard these past few days because we're buying a car. Once we pick it up from the old captain, you can rest for a few days and take Misty for a drive."
Jack took a big gulp of the spicy soup and said.
"I estimate that it won't be long before we can come in and give birth."
Vito was somewhat puzzled.
"Jack, why are you so obsessed with the afterlife?"
Jack smiled.
"Obsession? Mano, that's the afterlife. Countless legends have lived there, and those who have entered the afterlife are no ordinary people."
Vito called over a waiter and ordered a relatively inexpensive bottle of rye whiskey, then said to Jack.
"I have my doubts about that. Back then, when Rogue from the Afterlife went to fight Johnny in the Arasaka Tower, everyone else was almost shaken to death. How come Rogue was completely fine and continued to run Afterlife? Afterlife is like a trendy bar, a legendary spot that attracts wave after wave of people to visit the holy site. But to put it bluntly, it's just a group of shady people and mercenaries who want to do something dirty."
Jack was speechless, and he raised his whiskey.
"Uh, Mano, you're right, but there's no harm in going and checking it out, right? Cheers!"
Vito clinked glasses with Vito.
"That's true, but our goal from now on is for everyone to come to Wild Wolves and find the living legend Jack Wells."
"Hahaha, that's fantastic!"
After they finished eating, the two went to Wild Wolf to deliver dinner to Mrs. Wells. There, they met with "Old Captain" Muammar Reyes, the middleman in Santo Domingo. He was not only the best middleman in Santo Domingo, but also a used car dealer who could get his hands on some good cars.
The three of them sat down in a booth on the second floor of Wild Wolf.
"Hey, you two've been working really hard lately. Feeling frustrated with Night City's public transport and thinking about getting yourselves a mobile home?"
Jack joked.
"We have a little money, so you need to give us some advice and help Vito get a car that he can sleep comfortably in after arguing with his wife."
The old captain was also very humorous.
"We definitely have to meet the client's requirements. Do you have any cars you've already picked out?"
Vito got straight to the point.
"Do you have any Merrimack magicians? Preferably the original ones."
The old captain laughed when he heard it was a big deal.
"Great quality! I'll get you the original parts next week, you can choose any color! This car might be a bit conspicuous in the city, but it's fantastic for rough terrain. What, thinking of starting a new business?"
Vito laughed.
"You're as slippery as an eel! Don't try to trick me. I'm paying a deposit now, and I'll pay the full amount when the car arrives!"
The old captain squinted.
"That's great, Vito! Godfather, I'll urge your car to arrive early! And you, Mr. Jack Gold Wells, have you chosen your ride yet?"
Jack thought for a moment and then said.
"To be honest, I still prefer motorcycles a bit more. Now that we have some money in our pockets, I'm thinking of getting a Kusanagi Blade CT-3X. Do you have any in stock?"
The old captain opened his eyes.
"Jack, your taste is impeccable, but I don't handle Japanese goods very well. I can ask Okada Wakako for you."
Beep~ Beep~
The old captain made a phone call to Wakako.
"Hey, Wakako, I have a customer who wants to buy a CT-3X. He wants an original one, and he's got plenty of money."
"No, that won't do. I have to keep my clients' information confidential."
"Alright, I'll ask around. If they can make it work, I'll recommend you to them."
"Okay, same as always."
After hanging up the phone, the old captain said to the two men.
"The old lady would like to get your contact information to talk. Is that alright with you?"
Vito shook his head.
"There's nothing inconvenient about it. Okada Wakako is the middleman, and it won't hurt to know her."
"Alright, I'll hand her over to you. Now you two can talk to her. I need to hurry and contact my godfather's magician. Goodbye, both of you. Call me if you need anything!"
Jack called Wakako, and the motorcycle deal went smoothly. Wakako would deliver it in three days. Okada Wakako also invited the two of them to meet at a pachinko parlor in the Kabuki district.
"Alright, the car issue is settled. Did you ask Jack about the hacking?"
Jack sent Vito a document.
"There's a hacker who used to work for Dexter DeShawn, a fat black guy. Last year, the old fat black guy ran away in a panic, and this hacker has been taking odd jobs. She can start working for us next month."
Vito took a look and realized that it was T-bug, the hacker from the beginning of Cyberpunk 2077. Although his brain was burned out in the Azure Building, he was still a pretty good hacker.
"Alright, I'll call Mann's team and call David back to help me move. You haven't met the kid yet, he's a great guy."
After receiving the news, Mann borrowed Qiwei to work for Vito. Qiwei's work in a day was roughly equivalent to half a job that Mann's team took on, which made Mann even more respectful of Vito.
"It seems Night City is about to produce another notable figure!"
