Chapter 56 Save Me
The two went to the shooting range to test the guns, and then made minor adjustments to the weapons based on how they felt.
At this moment, Gloria also arrived at the clinic. She changed into the white coat of Gunfire Children's Clinic and ordered two breakfasts.
Breakfast consisted of coffee and a synthetic hot-pressed sandwich. She knew Vito had arrived when she saw the clinic open early, and Vito never liked fried noodles or similar foods, calling them Night City's Satanic ritual against Eastern cuisine, so that's what she ordered.
When breakfast arrived, she carried the food to deliver it to Vito and saw Rebecca testing a gun.
She had heard about the tragedy that had happened to Mann's squad, but one of the best ways to comfort someone is not to bring up painful memories.
"Hi Rebecca, I brought you breakfast."
Gloria handed her share to Rebecca.
"Thank you, Mrs. Gloria."
Rebecca put down her gun and took the breakfast, while Vito pushed it back to Gloria.
"You eat first, Gloria. You still need to watch the shop later. I have a favor to ask of you. I haven't been able to be at the shop much lately."
"It's nothing. Do you have something planned for today? Why are you at the store so early?"
Vito chuckled.
"Nothing much, just here to pick up some equipment."
Gloria's eyes seemed to see right through people's hearts.
"So, there are still some prosthetic bodies left in the warehouse, right?"
Vito scratched his head.
"Cybernetes? Of course I have a lot. I'm not going to war, why would I need so many cybernetes? Anyway, I need to reassign the captain. The upcoming mission might involve infiltration, so I need to pack my gear."
After saying that, Vito fled the firing range.
"Rebecca, try a few more shots after you finish breakfast, then come to the front and I'll adjust it for you!"
Gloria smiled wryly. To outsiders, Vito was a composed mercenary, but in front of his friends, he was always like a child.

Vito, who had escaped the firing range, received a phone call from Jack.
"Hey Jack, did you find out?"
Vito got straight to the point.
"I found out that there's a guy selling goods in the underpass of Twisty Street. Apparently, they're all hard-to-find sunglasses."
Jack replied.
"Have you chosen anyone for T-bug yet?"
Vito fitted his captain with a TSX trogon muzzle, which reduces muzzle noise significantly, making it ideal for catching the enemy off guard.
"They didn't mention the bug, so they're probably still looking for it. Have you heard anything about it?"
Jack asked.
"We're starting to see some progress. Come to the store. I've ordered some good stuff from Stings. After we pack it up, we'll give Old Wei a copy so he can put some new items on the shelves."
"Okay, I'll ride my bike over."
After hanging up the phone, Vito sent a message to Stins, asking him to meet him at Gannon Square in Heywood.
Stings arrived in Gannon in a police car, followed by three officers.
"Oh, you even brought bodyguards? Officer Stins doesn't trust me, does he?"
Stings ignored Vito's sarcastic remarks. He had his three men wait outside while he and Vito went into a taco shop.
"It's so early in the morning, I still have to go to the station after the transaction, of course I have to bring my men!"
After saying that, Stins handed Vito a data chip.
"Here are the things you wanted. Keep them for yourself and don't let everyone know."
Vito took the chip, examined it, and then smiled.
"This thing will be on the shelves sooner or later. With the kind of behavior you NCPD people have, you'd sell your conscience, let alone a little bit of citizen data."
Stins had nothing to say; he knew Vito was telling the truth.
"What about the information I need?"
Vito ordered two burritos and two espressos, then gave Stings the information he wanted.
"You know that guy 'Wooden Man' Oswald Forster, he's just the lubricant for the Tiger Claw gang's sex industry. His boss is Hiromi Sato, who is the actual person in charge of Genting. He lives on the top floor of the H8 skyscraper and doesn't usually leave his luxurious penthouse."
Hongmei's superiors are the two leaders of the Tiger Claw Gang, but I don't think they would directly contact a nobody like Dut from the NCPD.
Stins got the information he wanted and nodded.
"Very good, the transaction is complete."
Stins was about to get up when Vito called out to stop him.
"Have breakfast before you go, or are you just out of things to say to me?"
Stins sat down again, wanting to see what Vito was up to.
The waiter brought them wraps and coffee. Vito started eating breakfast, while Stins didn't touch a bite.
"Which powerful backer have you latched onto, Arasaka? Or the Yoru Corporation?"
"It's none of your fucking business."
"Ahem, Stins, have I been too nice to you?"
When Stins realized that the conversation was not going well, he prepared to get up and leave.
"Stins, if I were you, I wouldn't act rashly. I'm holding a taco in my right hand and my beloved Euro gun in my left, pointing it at your corrupt cop's balls. You don't want to lose your little guy, do you?"
Stings' face turned ashen, and he shouted in a deep voice.
"Are you crazy? I've already given you what you wanted!"
After finishing his burrito, Vito slowly took a sip of coffee.
"Tell me, maybe I can help you get some credit with your master."
Stins hesitated for a few seconds before speaking.
"Arasaka, Fujitsukaru."
Vito understood.
"Remember that perverted company dog? That little bastard."
Stins nodded.
"That guy is no ordinary person. He works for Arasaka and is in the security department. His girlfriend is also from Arasaka. She set up a secret surveillance point in his old, disguised hideout, which I happened to discover. I also happened to get some data from Yoo Young-cheol's computer."
Vito spoke slowly.
Stins immediately became interested, as he had also heard a little about the internal struggles within Arasaka.
"What are those data?"
Vito took a sip of coffee.
"I haven't looked at it. I'm not really interested in things that don't make money and only cause trouble. I'd rather give this data to someone who's interested. It mentions Frankfurt. If your Japanese patron is with Arasaka Yorinobu, then he might need this information."
Stings suppressed his excitement and spoke slowly, trying to create the impression that he didn't really need the money to avoid Vito making exorbitant demands.
"Maybe. I don't really want to get involved in these companies' messy affairs, but it's not a bad thing to add to their success. How much?"
"I don't need money. Find the Tiger Claw Gang's Seifu Jotaro for me. I know he has a hideout, but that bastard has a keen nose and moves very quickly. I want you and your men to search for him in the Kabuki district and Little Chinatown. As soon as he appears on the street, notify me. After it's done, I'll give you Yoo Young-cheol's information."
Stins assessed the situation and then nodded in agreement.
Did he offend you?
Vito put away his pistol and stood up.
"It's just a commission. I accepted the commission, and those who deserve to die must die."
