"The patient wants to talk to you."

"OK, Lao Wei, how much is it? I'll transfer the money to you."

Old Vito gave Vito a price, and Vito exclaimed in surprise, "So cheap? She looks quite serious."

Old Wei laughed and said, "This is a discount for good people. It's okay if you don't have money, I'm not in a hurry."

Vito turned to Old Vito and laughed, "I took down two illegal clinics today and even killed the head of the cleaning crew. My wallet's bulging! Now Saburo Arasaka can only call himself Little Vito when he's out in public!"

Old Vito smiled. Vito had just come in that morning to have his prosthetic eye replaced, and he had already accomplished so much in just one afternoon. This was beyond just being described as efficient.

Vito went in and then immediately came back out. He asked old Vito, "Old Vito, don't you have any hospital clothes or anything? You're still naked!"

Old Vito agreed, and asked Misty to buy him some clothes. After he changed, Vito went back inside.

"Thank you, sir, thank you for saving my life!"

Vito waved his hand and said, "No need to thank me. That quack doctor said it was your son who bought the package. Do you want to call your son and talk about transferring him to another hospital, uh, a different clinic? Also, what's your name? I'd like to know how to address you."

"My name is Gloria Martinez. May I ask your name, sir?"

Vito waved his hand again and said.

"Just call me Vito. This is Victor, the best prosthetic doctor in this district."

Gloria forced herself to thank them.

"Thank you, Mr. Vito, and thank you, Dr. Vito. May I pay the consultation fee tomorrow?"

Old Vito said, "Just call me Old Vito. Don't worry about the consultation fee; Vito has already paid it."

Gloria continued to thank Vito.

"Thank you, Mr. Vito, I'll transfer the money to you tomorrow."

Vito refused.

"I took the money from the vet as punishment for his lack of professional ethics. Mrs. Martinez, you should call your son as soon as possible."

Gloria then realized what was happening and called her son, David Martinez.

After the Night City universal ringtone.

"Hey! Mom! How are you?! The clinic has been locked down by the NCPD, where did you go?"

"I'm alright, David, a kind person saved me, come here..."

"Victor Prosthetics Clinic in Watson District"

"Come to Dr. Victor's Prosthetics Clinic in Watson District. I'm here right now."

Gloria was very weak, so in order not to disturb the patient, Vito left the clinic and went to the back alley to smoke. Old Vito didn't go inside to watch the boxing match either; he chatted with Vito in the back alley.

"It's another old story of a company turning its back on its employees. Night City is full of man-eating demons."

Vito handed old Vito a cigarette, offering him words of comfort.

"On the bright side, at least Night City doesn't have racial discrimination."

Old Vito was amused by Vito's lame joke. Night City indeed had no racial discrimination. Since people's prosthetic bodies could freely change their skin and gender, Night City didn't have any messy discrimination anymore. There was only one kind of discrimination, and that was class discrimination.

"You're a strange person, Vito. You have qualities that most people in Night City don't possess."

"Oh? What?"

"Kindness and compassion."

"Come on, Old Wei, I've already killed at least ten people today. They don't think I'm kind."

"Hahaha, that doesn't count!"

"Oh, right, Old Wei, I have a little money now. Could you recommend some brand-name products to me? I need to get my lungs and stomach replaced first. The air quality in Night City is just as bad as the food."

The two chatted for a while when a boy in a school suit ran over and asked them a question.

"Excuse me, is this Dr. Victor's clinic?"

Old Wei replied, "Yes, you are Mrs. Martinez's son, right? She's at the clinic, still a bit weak."

"Okay, thank you," David said, and was about to go inside when Vito stopped him.

"Did you get into a fight? You look all dirty. Go wash up properly before you go in, so your mother won't worry."

David paused for a moment, then found a place to wash up and looked at himself in the mirror before entering the clinic.

"I didn't realize you were such a thoughtful person, Vito."

Vito lit a cigarette and sighed.

"Family ties are priceless; may love be free from sorrow."

David stayed for about half an hour. Gloria couldn't go home today; she had to stay temporarily at Old Vie's place. Old Vie asked Misty to take care of Gloria.

David found Vito, bowed deeply to him, and said, "Thank you for saving my mother. Please come home with me; I will give you my reward!"

Vito declined, saying, "I'm fine with going home with you; I happen to have nowhere to stay. No need for a thank-you gift. I'll be staying at your place for a while, is that alright?"

David quickly replied, "Of course!"

The two got into Vito's bread truck.

On the way, Vito asked David.

Which company do you work for?

David was puzzled as to why Vito asked that, so he replied, "I'm not working at the company yet; I'm a student at Arasaka Academy."

Vito asked doubtfully, "Arasaka has an academy? I thought you were from the company because you were wearing a suit. What can Arasaka Academy teach? How do you bow to Saburo Arasaka?"

David was somewhat surprised that Vito didn't know about Arasaka Academy, and he replied.

"They teach a little bit of everything, but mainly hacking techniques."

The two drove to David's building. Vito asked David to help him carry the boxes inside so he could deal with the cleaner's car and prevent it from being used as a tracking device.

"Could you help me carry this box upstairs for a bit, then come down and get me? I need to deal with the car first."

"OK!"

David unloaded the box from the car. The box was heavy, and the contents rattled as he walked. He carried the box to his front door and saw the sign that said "No Entry for Unauthorized Persons."

"grass!"

David kicked the door hard. Helpless, he could only carry the boxes downstairs to wait for Vito.

After a while, Vito got out of the Delaman taxi.

"Thank you, old man!"

"You're welcome, thank you for choosing Delaman!"

As soon as Vito got out of the car, he saw David sitting on the ground and asked, "Have you been waiting long?"

David shook his head and said it wouldn't be long. Then David carried the box and led the way, looking hesitant to speak along the way.

When they reached the door, David said apologetically, "The rent is overdue, and the door is locked. But we can take another route; we'll just need to open the box and pass the items in one by one."

Vito laughed.

"It's okay, I'll transfer the rent money to you, just open the door."

Vito immediately transferred the money. David opened the door first, and Vito said.

"How about I stay in your room and you stay in Mrs. Martinez's?"

David nodded quickly.

Vito carried the box into David's room; he couldn't wait to begin the experiment.

David then retrieved the Sianwistan prosthetic body that Gloria had told him about from the room, intending to give it to Vito as a token of his gratitude.
