Cyberpunk: I didn't cheat.

Chapter 80 Dangerous

"That's the problem. I have three attachments right now, and this Kim Yeon is definitely not simple!"

Vito is currently discussing the commission with Valerie over the children.

Valerie's expression was grave. She hadn't expected that what was originally news from inside Arasaka would now be so widely known, and that things were becoming increasingly confusing.

"I understand. I'll talk to my boss about this. I also thank you for reminding me, and I'll give you some money as a token of my appreciation."

Vito pulled a cigarette from his backside and lit it, a unique way of taking out cigarettes in Night City that Vito had now learned.

"I'm contacting you not to ask for your money. You can't take responsibility for this, and neither can your superiors. This was probably an order directly given by Saburo Arasaka."

I've been in Night City for a while now, and I've never seen the entire city, both above and below ground, searching for one person at the same time. I don't think even a plane crash would have generated this kind of frenzy.

Valerie's nostrils trembled slightly, a mixture of aversion to the smell of smoke and shock at coming to this conclusion.

She knew exactly what Saburo Arasaka's orders meant. The creator of the Arasaka Empire would personally issue orders that would result in many deaths, with each person dying faster than drinking a bottle of beer on average.

What do you think?

Valerie calmed herself down and then asked.

"Me? I must have seen it on TV at home. This kind of thing is bloody once you get involved, and I don't want to end up rotting in a garbage dump."

Valerie is now caught in a dilemma: on one hand, there's the obvious foul play, and on the other, there are the company's orders.

She's no fool to have gotten to her position in the counterintelligence department; she was a top hacker who stood out from many geniuses, and she's quick-witted.

"Fine, I'll cancel my engagement with you, and I'll delete all communication records between us."

Vito nodded.

"Okay, Jack will take you back. Good luck."

Valerie walked out of the raging child's house in silence.

Vito went to the clinic next door. It was getting late, so Vito told Gloria that he would close earlier in the future, and then asked Cha to accompany him to the afterlife.

After kissing Vito goodbye, Liying asked Gloria to drive home with her.

Tonight, the scene was unusually lively, but there were far fewer mercenaries. Many middlemen were exchanging information while holding a cocktail in their hands.

Vito asked the bartender Claire about the booth where Roger was sitting, and slowly walked over with Cha, eavesdropping on the conversations of the people in the middle along the way.

"It's rare for the people of Zeta to be so generous; they're willing to go to any lengths to find that woman."

"It's not just Zeta; even those normally stingy people are suddenly being generous. They used to give a dollar or two, but now they're all bidding like they're at an auction!"

When she arrived at Roger's booth, it was already full of people. Chrispin Wayland and Emeric Brunson sat on either side of Roger, while several people dressed as hackers were tapping on tablets nearby.

There was a glass of wine in front of everyone, but it seemed that no one was drinking even a sip.

Roger was talking to a middleman with a composite prosthetic eye when she saw Vito arrive. She gestured for Vito to wait a moment.

"I need your information. Money is no object. You should be able to handle this small matter, Queen of the Next Life."

Emeric stared at the middleman, seemingly dissatisfied with what he had said.

Roger chuckled, picked up a glass of whiskey from the table, took a sip, and then said slowly.

"Faraday, you yourself said I'm the queen of the afterlife, not the queen of Night City. How could I possibly have information that no one else knows?"

Faraday's three prosthetic eyes on his right cheek flickered; he was very dissatisfied with Rogge.

"Are you done talking? My guest has arrived, you might have to make room for him."

Faraday got up with his bodyguards and stared intently at Vito as he passed by.

"Rogge, I'm just gouging out eyes, not killing anyone. Emeric and Weyland won't stop me, will they?"

Vito was very annoyed by Faraday's sinister gaze; he felt that this performance art freak harbored a wicked secret.

Roger put down his cup and said lazily.

"Probably not, but there are rules for the next life, so please give me some face."

At that moment, Rogge noticed Little Cha behind Vito.

"Newcomers? Your team could go shoot Mewtwo, the idol."

Vito pulled Cha down to sit.

"Everyone in the underworld is looking for someone. Your request is related to her, isn't it?"

Roger glanced at Cha, but said nothing.

Vito understood what she meant.

"My team's newest member, Chapai, is reliable and keeps his mouth shut."

Rogge then slowly spoke.

"Since you've heard about it, I won't waste any more words. I need to find her, dead or alive, and get her behavioral data and the chip. My client said it's better if she's dead."

All other commissions require finding people, living people. Okada Wakako even explicitly stated that her brain must not be damaged.

Rogge, on the other hand, wanted Kim Yeon dead.

Vito became even more determined not to get involved in this mess.

"This guy can't even catch the company's own people?"

Roger frowned.

"Vito, stop asking. It won't do you any good."

Vito nodded, said nothing more, and got up to leave.

"Vito, as someone who admires you, I have a piece of advice for you: either take orders honestly and do your job properly, or stop playing the puzzle game and asking around everywhere, or you'll get into trouble."

Vito waved with his back to Roger, then left the Rebirth Nightclub.

Little Chapman, sporting Brad Pitt's face, looked around with a bewildered expression. He had never had the chance to witness the splendor of Night City's streets before.

Vito shook his head, trying to clear his mind of the jumbled thoughts. Roger was right; being too curious and then playing jigsaw puzzles would only get him into trouble.

……

Taiping Prefecture, the stronghold of the Voodoo Gang.

"Found her, Bridget! She contacted us through the dark web!"

Maman Bridget and her voodoo gang also got involved in the search for Kim Yeon.

According to intelligence gathered by the Voodoo Cult, this woman codenamed Zhu Yan possesses exceptional hacking skills, and the tools she carries can help the Voodoo Cult research the Black Wall.

"Rover, connect to her signal!"

Bridget had her subordinates connect to Kim Yeon's signal, and she observed it on a computer next to the high-performance server.

"Signal connection established; she sent over a location file."

Bridget thought for a moment, then said.

"Check the files, including the virtual address and Poseidon logo, to prevent fraud."

A minute later, Jofernell, sitting in the hacker chair, suddenly screamed in agony; his brain had been instantly roasted. The other hackers quickly activated the Poseidon subnet to scan and remove the virus that had located the file.

The location file was enclosed in a specially designed domain name by Poseidon.

A voice message was transmitted.

"Your actions have violated the Cybersecurity Law. Stop searching for Kim Yeon, or your hacking will suffer the consequences!"

Bridget had the hacker's body removed from the hacker chair and thrown out, then another hacker was put on top of it.

"Ugh, those damn internet censors!"
