Chapter 89 Fictional Distance
After modifying his body, Xiao Cha put on clothes, but the prosthetic body was so big that it made his clothes bulge.
He slowly shuffled out of the operating room, looking quite comical.
Vito wiped his hands and followed Cha out the door. After he finished wiping them clean, he casually patted Cha, almost knocking him over.
"Vito!"
Xiao Cha was dissatisfied.
Vito then looked at the two women sitting next to the computer.
"Let's go home, Gloria. Liying and I will take you home. Go, Magician."
Gloria nodded, then put the toy car into her bag.
"Hey, Cha, get some rest. Don't stay up too late watching movies! It's bad for your health!"
Xiao Cha sat down next to the computer with a thud, pressing the chair down twenty centimeters.
"Little Cha is a robot, it's okay."
After Vito and the other two left the clinic and closed the door, Cha said in a low voice.
"But Cha really likes it."
The three of them were chatting in the car.
"Gloria, has David been living with you lately?"
Gloria smiled and shook her head.
"No, he lives with Lucy."
Vito had a wicked grin on his face.
"Whoosh! Gloria's going to be a grandma!"
Li Ying scolded playfully.
"Vito, don't talk nonsense. I heard from Gloria that David is only nineteen. How could he be so young?"
Gloria, however, didn't seem to care at all.
"I've met Lucy, she's a nice girl."
"It seems the mothers are quite satisfied with their daughters-in-law, don't you think?"
Vito winked at Li Ying, who blushed and nodded.
"Let's call David back for a meal sometime. It seems like the job he and his crew have taken on isn't easy either."
"You're right, Gloria. If David and you save up enough money, where would you like to go?"
Gloria thought about it seriously.
"I don't know, maybe we'll go to Asia. In the end, it depends on David and Lucy's decision. Actually, I'm doing quite well in Night City right now."
Vito shook his head.
"Forget it, let's leave once we've saved enough money. Night City is a terrible place."
In the dimly lit and cramped room, empty wine bottles and cigarette butts were piled on the floor.
"I've come this far, and it's impossible to downgrade the prosthetic body now. What was the point of all this effort?"
Mann was no longer the same as before; he seemed dazed and listless.
He was talking to himself alone in the room.
David, who had been slapped, walked back to the door of the safe house and heard Dorio and Lucy arguing.
"Those idiots are probably catching up soon! We only have tomorrow morning, you know that! We have no other choice!"
The door opened, and bright light shone on David's face, highlighting his gloomy expression.
He regarded Mann as family, a senior, and an older brother, but Mann's words just now had pierced his heart.
"I said no! You are! Do you even understand? That guy belongs to Arasaka—"
David saw Lucy, who was very emotional, and her hands began to tremble and twitch involuntarily as she spoke of Arasaka.
-
David sighed and said weakly.
"Let's give up, let's go home, Lucy, don't force yourself."
"Shut up, David."
Although Dorio tried to stop him, his tone was not harsh.
"We can just throw Tanaka back where he was and pretend nothing happened," David continued.
Lucy trembled as David spoke.
Dorio raised his voice and roared.
"Have you said enough?!"
Amidst the shouts, Lucy ran out of the room.
"Lucy, you can't run away forever!"
David followed Lucy out of the room.
Lucy shoved David against the wall.
"David! Tell me, I can do it!"
"Uh, what? I thought you didn't want to—"
"Tell me! You have absolutely no idea what Arasaka is like! They're watching you and me all the time!"
We can't give up! We have no other choice! I know that!
Lucy was very excited, and her hands, which were pushing David, trembled uncontrollably.
"But if you were to tell me, I would definitely—"
David gently grasped Lucy's arm.
"I'm sorry, Lucy, I—I know you can do it, just go for it, Lucy."
David paused.
"You know what? Misty said my fate is being pushed along. I don't know what will happen in the future, but I know I will do my best!"
Lucy looked up at her steadfast lover.
The two entered the room.
"Dorio, I'll do it, but on the condition that David comes with me, and Mann doesn't get involved! If you don't agree, I won't go."
Dorio considered it for a moment and nodded.
"I understand, but stay connected and update every fifteen minutes, before dawn, understand?"
David, where are the Mann men?
David turned his head away.
"I have no idea!"
In the dimly lit underground parking lot, with the lights flickering overhead, Mann didn't respond to Dorio's call. He walked on unconsciously, as if he had walked back to that scorching afternoon many years ago.
"Mann!"
Dorio found Mann, who was walking while bumping into a wall without realizing it.
Mann turned his head blankly.
"Dorio?"
Neon lights flashed outside the window, and various companies' hovercars replaced birds as they flew over the city.

Jin Yan lit a cigarette while looking out the window at the city lights in Angel's home.
Angel's home has little furniture and is simply decorated. The only thing that could be considered decoration is a few printed photos pinned next to the desk.
"What a filthy city! This stench is practically seeping into my body."
"We're almost there! Once we escape Night City, we can do our own thing!"
There was no one in the room, and Jin Yan had no communication connection, but she could hear a woman's voice in her mind.
"Our business? Isn't it your business? I'll find you a body to occupy, and then I'll have another blue-eyed person by my side."
"Hehehe, I'm not like them. I know how to get over that wall, and I know how to evade the surveillance of those traitors. You can't even imagine that kind of power!"
Jin Yan took a drag of her cigarette, and slightly opened her mouth to let the smoke drift towards her nose.
"So you've been killing people all this time just to witness your so-called power?"
The laughter in my mind abruptly stopped, and a woman's voice said coldly.
"You're the one who released the puppet, you're the one who killed, and you're the one who parasitized someone else's home. Kim Yeon, do you think you're innocent just because you feel guilty while killing? As far as I know, you're not a clean person."
"Shut up!"
Kim Yeon threw away the cigarette in her hand.
"You say I'm one of you, but why didn't I know that before?"
"You're like a program. In order to send you here, many functions need to be turned off. These things will be activated by specific means at some point."
Besides, haven't you yourself recently remembered those things?
Kim Yeon remained silent for a while.
"So, you're telling me not to contact those people because you've also been activated?"
The woman did not answer.
Jin Yan sighed; there was no turning back for her.
She went to the desk and burned Angel Bishop's handwritten diary.
In the firelight, the past that Angel recorded was being slowly consumed by the flames.
