Hogwarts: This holy light is righteously evil
Chapter 28 Professor McGonagall: You seem to have an amazing talent for the Vanishing Charm.
Professor McGonagall's voice echoed throughout the classroom; no one whispered, and almost everyone's attention was focused on the serious professor.
"very good."
Seeing everyone's condition, Professor McGonagall nodded in satisfaction.
Of the four houses, the ones that gave her the least trouble when teaching were Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff.
Ravenclaw students are generally very bright, so she doesn't have to worry too much about their learning progress.
Hufflepuffs may not be as quick as Ravenclaws at mastering magic, but they always keep quiet in class.
As for Gryffindor and Slytherin...
Professor McGonagall glanced at the Gryffindors, who seemed silent yet restless, and at the Slytherins, who, while respectful, appeared frivolous and dismissive.
Oh, I'm too lazy to think about it.
Professor McGonagall walked around the classroom once, and then returned to the podium.
"I am very satisfied with your performance in this class, but I still want to remind you—I don't want to see anyone causing trouble in my class and ignoring my rules."
"I'm not joking. If anyone causes serious harm, I will permanently disqualify you from attending classes! Otherwise, one of your actions could cause another student to suffer unnecessary pain!"
"Magic is not child's play!"
After Professor McGonagall finished speaking, the classroom fell into complete silence; you could hear a pin drop.
Professor McGonagall looked around and then waved her wand.
"I've given you a basic overview of Transfiguration. Now we'll begin learning the most fundamental theoretical knowledge of Transfiguration."
On the blackboard, one piece of writing after another appeared out of thin air, neat and orderly, almost covering the blackboard.
"These are all knowledge points not in the textbook. I've written them all down, and I'll check them one by one."
The scratching sound of pens gliding across paper filled the air instantly.
Professor McGonagall did not rush to continue the lecture. Instead, she waited until everyone had copied down the basic theoretical knowledge about Transfiguration before handing out a box of matches to each person.
"Open the matchbox, take out a match, and use your wands to transform the match into a thin needle."
Many students were fiddling with matches, some looking curious, others looking worried.
Seriously? Shouldn't the first lesson be purely about theoretical knowledge?
Why is there classwork?!
Many Gryffindor students were scratching their heads in frustration.
Marcos was also completely bewildered.
Puni ignored everyone else and instead looked down at the notes he had copied.
"Compared to vanishing spells and summoning spells, transmutation spells consume less magic and are more stable, making them the most suitable transmutation spells for beginners."
Although it wasn't anything particularly profound, Puni was able to understand Professor McGonagall's intention in having everyone copy the notes.
—Make everyone compelled to read about Transfiguration.
Moreover, this first lesson only involves turning matches into needles, so it's unlikely that any major problems will arise. Even if they do, Professor McGonagall can quickly correct them with a Restoration Charm.
So this also shows that Professor McGonagall's strictness at times is just a bluff, in order to enable all the young wizards to learn magic better and with greater awareness of safety.
Puni couldn't help but think of many of his homeroom teachers from his previous life.
Sometimes teachers don't mean to put on a sour face, but if they seem too easy to bully, students will not listen to them; it's human nature.
Puni raised his wand and, following Professor McGonagall's instructions, cast a spell, gently tapping the match in front of him.
"Bang!"
Puni intended to try the Conversion Spell, but somehow he ended up using the Vanish Spell instead.
The match in front of him vanished into thin air.
"Hmm?" Professor McGonagall walked over. "Did you learn this spell at home before?"
Puni blinked, then shook her head and smiled sweetly: "I've read about basic transfiguration in the books at home, but I haven't tried it myself. It is indeed a dangerous spell. I'm afraid something might go wrong if no one is watching over me."
Professor McGonagall nodded slightly—this Mr. Lestrange was very sensible, quite different from the other Slytherin students.
"Let's try the Conversion Charm again," Professor McGonagall suggested.
Puni nodded and raised his wand again.
However, compared to the Vanishing Spell, which he cast smoothly, he was not as adept at using the Transformation Spell.
Professor McGonagall was somewhat puzzled: "You seem to have an amazing talent for the Vanishing Charm."
Puni blinked.
what does this mean?
Does that mean he's good at making people disappear?
My God, this is the biggest misunderstanding about him!
"Please let me try one more time."
Puni raised his hand again, tapped his wand, and magic flowed out.
"Bang—!"
This time, not only the match in front of him, but the entire box next to him, along with the match, disappeared completely.
Puni: ಠ_ರೃ?
Professor McGonagall opened her mouth slightly, paused, but said nothing. Instead, she turned around, took another box of matches from the podium, and placed it on his desk.
"Thank you, Professor." Puni coughed lightly.
Qiu Zhang, who was only separated from him by an aisle, took in all of this and couldn't help but cover his mouth and chuckle.
Puni turned to look at her.
Cho Chang raised his chin, then tapped his wand.
The match in front of her suddenly became much thinner.
Although it hasn't turned into a fine needle yet, it's already quite effective.
Professor McGonagall hadn't left yet when she saw that the ends of the matches on Cho Chang's table were gradually taking on the shape of needles, and she couldn't help but nod in praise.
"Good, progress is fast."
Puni calmed down and began to study it on his own.
Before long, he also grasped the key to the transformation spell.
—Or rather, a way to stop directing magic toward the Vanishing Spell.
Swish!
The match in front of him flashed and turned into a fine needle.
"Oh Puni, you've succeeded?!" Marcos exclaimed, his eyes wide.
He looked down at the matches in his hand.
There's still no sign of anything!
Upon hearing the sound, Professor McGonagall looked over from the podium, then pursed her lips, perhaps trying to suppress a laugh.
"Not bad, it seems you've suppressed your instinctive control over the Vanishing Charm—you're learning very quickly. I didn't expect anyone to succeed completely, but you've done even better than this Miss Qiu Zhang."
Professor McGonagall coughed. "In that case, I won't be stingy—Ravenclaw adds ten points for Mr. Lestrange's outstanding achievement."
The mention of scores made everyone in Ravenclaw excited, especially Roger and Marcos, who grinned from ear to ear.
In just the first lesson, Puni added fifteen points to their academy's score!
