Hogwarts: This holy light is righteously evil

Chapter 37 I don't want everyone to lose their flying lessons because of one competition.

Mrs. Hooch stood in the center of the lawn, slowly put away her wand, let out a long sigh of relief, and her tense expression finally relaxed a bit.

She glanced at all the students present, carefully checking them over and over until she saw that everyone was standing steadily on the ground without any falls or scrapes, before she was completely relieved.

She had just finished teaching all the basic flight maneuvers step by step, and she had been worried that some new students might get injured due to improper operation. Now it seems that everything went smoothly.

But this peace lasted only a moment before it was broken by a sudden proposal from Puni.

Puni took a step forward, his face showing a hint of eagerness. His voice reached Mrs. Hodge's ears clearly as he said expectantly, "Mrs. Hodge, now that we've learned the basic moves, why don't you be the referee and rescuer? Let's have a broom race here! If any student accidentally falls off their broom, you just need to cast a levitation spell to ensure their safety."

"What?!"

Upon hearing this, Mrs. Hooch's face immediately darkened, her brows furrowed, and her expression became extremely unpleasant—she truly hadn't expected that the one who made such a risky suggestion would be a Ravenclaw student!

In her mind, the Ravenclaw eaglets were always calm and rational, focused on knowledge and wisdom. Such impulsive and reckless thoughts were something that only the Gryffindor lion cubs would have.

However, if it were a Gryffindor student, they probably would have started the competition long ago without her consent, and they wouldn't bother to ask for her permission. They wouldn't care about getting hurt at all.

Before Mrs. Hooch could refuse, Puni added, his words clear and to the point: "Madam, you see, we don't have flight lessons in our second year, and first-year students not only have fewer classes each week, but they are also not allowed to join the school's Quidditch team."

"But many of us want to join the Quidditch team in our second year, which requires us to train our flying skills and accumulate practical experience in advance."

"This game will not only help us get used to handling the broom, but also serve as an informal training session, which will be of great help to us when we join the Quidditch team in the future."

Mrs. Huo Qi stood there, lost in thought.

What Puni said did make some sense; it's not a bad thing for freshmen to want to hone their flying skills and gain experience.

Moreover, with her acting as referee and paramedic on the sidelines, as long as she keeps a close eye on things, there shouldn't be any serious injuries.

After a moment's deliberation, Madam Huo Qi finally relented and nodded, but immediately put forward her conditions in a serious manner.

"The competition can be held, but I have one condition."

Mrs. Hooch's tone left no room for argument, her gaze sweeping over every student present. "Regardless of who wins the competition, this is absolutely forbidden! —Tell the Gryffindor students!"

"Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff, I can barely keep you two students in check, but if the Gryffindor students find out, they'll definitely follow suit and hold their own competition. Then the Slytherin students will definitely get involved, and the situation will be completely out of control."

"Inevitably, some students will get injured and have to be taken to the school clinic, which is not what I want to see."

At this point, Mrs. Hodge's expression became more helpless: "I'm not worried about the students getting into any serious trouble, but Mrs. Pomfrey from the school clinic, once she sees a student injured while flying, she will nag me endlessly, and even suggest canceling the flight course."

"I don't want anyone to miss their flight lessons because of a competition—do you all hear me?"

After hearing Mrs. Hodge's conditions, the Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff students, somewhat surprised by Penny's proposal, all nodded in agreement without raising any objections.

—As long as the competition can be held, these restrictions are nothing!

The flight they had just taken had already excited them.

Now they can even race freely during flight lessons, which is an incredibly fun thing for them in itself.

After agreeing on the terms, the group began to discuss the choice of venue.

Actually, this matter is very simple. Mrs. Hooch suggested that the lawn in front of them be used as the venue, and that flying around the lawn once would be considered a race. Whoever crosses the finish line first would be the winner.

The proposal was accepted by everyone; it was simple and fair.

Next comes the arrangement of the referees.

Students who lacked confidence in their flying abilities and were unwilling to participate in the competition volunteered to serve as referees.

They were divided into four groups, each standing at one of the four corners of the lawn, responsible for supervising the competition and preventing cheating, such as not flying around the lawn or taking shortcuts.

With everything arranged, the students participating in the competition were all eager to try their best.

All the boys on the field signed up for the competition without hesitation.

Many girls also joined voluntarily.

Puni walked to the starting line, tidying up his broom and preparing to get into position, when he caught a glimpse of a familiar figure out of the corner of his eye.

Qiu Zhang also stood by the starting line, holding a broom in his hand, looking focused, clearly intending to participate in the race as well.

This surprised Puni somewhat.

He originally thought that Qiu Zhang would not be willing to participate in such a risky racing competition.

Noticing Puni's gaze, Qiu Zhang turned his head, a bright smile on his face, and said expectantly, "I want to try it too. When I was practicing flying with you just now, the feeling of soaring in the sky was really amazing! I want to experience it again and see how good my flying skills are."

Seeing her eager expression, Puni smiled slightly: "Then you'd better be careful not to fall off the broom. I've experienced falling off a broom firsthand, and that feeling of making intimate contact with the ground is not pleasant at all."

Qiu Zhang wasn't intimidated by his words at all. Instead, she smiled and raised her chin: "Thank you for the reminder. I'll be careful. But I won't fall so easily. Just wait and see!"

All participating students were in position, each straddling a broom, gripping the broom handles tightly with both hands, leaning slightly forward, ready to take off at any moment.

Mrs. Huo stood by the finish line, whistle in hand, her gaze sweeping over all the participating students. She called out loudly, "Are you all ready? During the race, please be careful and do not intentionally bump into other students. If any danger arises, call me immediately!"

Everyone responded in unison, filled with excitement and anticipation.
