Huayu 2011: Starting with Hilarious Men

Chapter 86 Preparing for Season 3

At this moment, Zheng Nan had no idea what was happening in the greenhouse.

He has already started preparing for the filming of the third season of "Hilarious Men" with his team.

"Have you notified Chen Li and Zhuang Xinyan?" Zheng Nan asked Aya.

They take every opportunity to have their own projects and signed singers appear on camera so that more people can get to know them.

"I've been notified, and the bus has been rented." Aya nodded.

In the opening scene of the third season of "Hilarious Men", Zheng Nan was preparing to film a series about buses, so he asked Aya to rent a working bus in advance.

Having already filmed three seasons, the filming order is no longer important to Zheng Nan.

Shoot whatever you can first, since it will all be edited in the end anyway.

After confirming that the only two artists from her company could appear on screen, Zheng Nan asked in their QQ group, "Season 3 is about to start filming, is there anyone who wants to be on screen and earn money?"

The QQ group has very few members, only six people: Zheng Nan, Dilraba, Yuan Bingyan, Lin Wenruo, Ren Yi, and Duan Xingye.

These six people were also the cornerstone of the first season of "Hilarious Men".

"When I return to school in a couple of days, please reserve a role for me. If there isn't one, I can do logistics." Lin Wenruo replied the fastest.

Duan Xingye posted a picture full of text, saying, "I'm staying home to study for the civil service exam, so I won't go. Thanks for the new phone, Nan-ge. Don't send me one next time, it'll interfere with my exam."

"I'm going back tomorrow, I want to earn money to do cosplay!" Ren Yi has recently become obsessed with anime conventions and has started trying cosplay.

"I'm going back in a couple of days too, @Bingpai Sweetheart, when are you going back to school?" Yuan Bingyan, a twenty-year-old woman who had just finished the New Year, didn't know that Dilraba had already returned to Shanghai, and even tagged Dilraba in the group chat.

"I have something to do, so I'm going back to school today," Reba quickly explained.

"Those who want to come can come to the company to find me. I'll be filming in Shanghai for about seven days, and then I'll go to other places to film." Zheng Nan, as the group leader, directly tagged everyone.

"Boss, this is a list of celebrities sent by Sohu. If anyone needs a cameo role, Sohu can help us get in touch." Aya handed over an A4 sheet of paper with many celebrities' names written on it.

Huang Haibo, Wu Xiubo, Zhao Wenzhuo, Angelababy, Huang Bo, Jiang Wu, and others are all celebrities who have long-term collaborations with Sohu.

Zhang Chaoyang presented Zheng Nan with a difficult problem, demanding some compensation.

"I don't mind having too many celebrities making cameo appearances. Just tell Sohu and ask around; anyone willing to make a cameo appearance is welcome."

It's unlikely that the third season will surpass the second in quality, and since Zheng Nan isn't planning to have Qiao Shan appear in the third season, they'll have to rely on more celebrities to fill the gap.

"Okay, I'll pass that on to Sohu."

"But wasn't this task handled by my uncle? Why was it handed over to you?" Zheng Nan asked.

"My uncle is busy recruiting and expanding the company, so he's delegated some of the work to me," Aya explained.

Company expansion is no small matter, especially for positions like finance and accounting. Ding Xiu is very serious about screening people and dares not be careless in the slightest.

Don't underestimate Sennan Entertainment just because it's a small company; it has a very diverse range of businesses.

Currently, it involves actors, singers, web dramas, music copyrights, and revenue sharing for ringtone SPs, among other things.

The number of companies we're working with is increasing, and the amount of accounts we need to reconcile each month is also growing.

If a bad person were to be brought in, not to mention falsifying accounts to make money, just mixing up everyone's accounts would be a real problem.

"Hiring is important." Zheng Nan can tell what's important and what's not.

"By the way, boss, I'll tell you something secretly, but you absolutely mustn't tell anyone," Aya whispered mysteriously.

I don't know if all agents are gossipy, but Aya is definitely very gossipy.

I crave gossip whenever there's any juicy gossip. Every day, besides work, I spend a lot of time surfing the internet and eating gossip.

Okay, I won't say.

"My uncle has been talking to a woman a lot lately."

"Tch, I thought it was something. My uncle talks to a woman a lot every now and then, and then he moves on to another one after a while." Zheng Nan thought he was going to hear some juicy gossip, but it turned out to be just this.

If this matter can be considered gossip, then Zheng Nan going out to buy fruit would be considered gossip.

"No, no, no, this time it's different." Aya shook her finger.

Boss, you have absolutely no idea.

"How are they different?"

"How long did your uncle ever talk to a woman in the past?"

"No more than three months, I guess." Zheng Nan recalled that, in his memory, none of his uncle's relationships had lasted more than three months.

"Hehe, that's right! But this woman's voice has been the same for almost five months, from mid-September last year until now!"

Aya only joined Sennan Entertainment last September, which means that Ding Xiu has only contacted one woman during this period.

"Could it be that I'm going to have an aunt?!" Zheng Nan was stunned by this thought.

His playboy uncle, a womanizer for years, is actually going to fall for a woman too?!

What Zheng Nan didn't know was that his aunt's father worked at the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.

Zheng Nan's uncle has done so much for her behind the scenes.

I finally accepted this gossip.

Aya continued her work report: "Some production crews want to appear on 'Hilarious Men' for promotional purposes."

In its first season, the relatively unknown "Hilarious Men" couldn't find any celebrities to make guest appearances.

The only person with any recognition in the first season was Jiang Jinfu, who was only able to get filmed because Zheng Nan coaxed him into doing so.

When the second season came out, with the fame of the first season as a foundation, it was much easier to find celebrities to make guest appearances. The guest appearances by the cast of "iPartment 3" and "Xuan-Yuan Sword" were all in a mutually beneficial manner.

Now that the second season of "Hilarious Men" has become a hit, production teams wanting to promote the show have already approached them for collaborations during the preparation stage for the third season.

These production teams that approached them weren't stupid; they valued the three major advantages of "Hilarious Men": high viewership, strong topicality, and a young audience.

The goal is to achieve a win-win promotional effect by having guest appearances in web dramas, thus promoting the production itself.

"Which film crews are involved?" Zheng Nan asked.

"There are four film production teams: 'Detective Hunter Zhang,' 'Border Town,' 'The Four,' and 'Caught in the Web.' There are also many TV drama production teams, such as 'Baby Mama Baby Girl,' 'Mu Guiying Takes Command,' and 'The Righteous Invincible,'" Aya replied after flipping through her notebook.

"Hilarious Men" used to be released every six months, so the production teams that contacted us were basically those whose shows were scheduled to air in the summer of 2012.

"The Four Great Constables?" Zheng Nan asked, somewhat surprised.

He remembered that Liu Yifei was one of the main actors in the movie.

The "Fairy Sister" (Liu Yifei) no longer acts in TV dramas and focuses on the film market. Would she really be willing to make a cameo appearance in such a low-quality web series?

"Yes, this collaboration offer came from Enlight Media. Their staff felt that martial arts films are too traditional and need to be more internet-savvy, appealing to younger audiences, and breaking out of their niche. The target audience for 'Hilarious Men' is mainly urban young people, students, and netizens."

Viewers who haven't seen the movie "The Four Great Constables" shouldn't be fooled by the name. It's a heavily modified super-powered martial arts film with an idol cast, targeting young people.

As the only phenomenal web series to date, "Hilarious Men" requires zero cost for guest appearances, yet still offers high exposure in return.

It's perfectly normal for Enlight Media to want to collaborate with "Laughing Man" for the sake of box office success.

"Will Liu Yifei make a cameo appearance?" Zheng Nan asked the question he was most concerned about.
