When the four of them emerged from the forest, the sky outside was completely dark. During this time, director Zhao Dekai did not contact them.

As soon as the four arrived at the foot of the mountain, where Xu Zhen had parked his electric scooter, they saw a staff member waiting there.

"Little car, what are you doing here?"

The staff member, nicknamed "Little Car," lay on Xu Zhen's electric scooter, idly playing on his phone.

Xu Zhen's reminder nearly made him fall off the car.

He quickly steadied himself, put his phone in his pocket, and said, "Stageman, the director asked me to pick you up. He said that once you come down, I'll take you to eat first, and then we'll prepare for filming after you've finished eating."

Xu Zhen knew he didn't receive such good treatment; it was all thanks to Teacher Liu beside him. He looked at Liu Zhongze and cautiously asked, "Teacher Liu, what do you think we should have for dinner tonight?"

Liu Zhongze frowned. He had never been a formalist, and he disliked the entire crew waiting for him, as it didn't suit his personality.

"No need, I'll go film now."

"Huh?" Brother Zhou and Xiao Li both complained in unison.

The four men had been working from afternoon to night, doing all kinds of physical labor. Now they were being asked to work without even having a meal, which was really putting these workers in a difficult position.

Liu Zhongze sighed and said, "Alright, let's eat something simple and not delay the filming."

Xu Zhen, Brother Zhou, and Xiao Li all breathed a sigh of relief. Compared to the two behind them, Xu Zhen hadn't had a proper rest and had long exceeded his physical limits. However, he was now too hungry to experience the hypoglycemic reaction he had just had.

The car didn't leave with the four of them. After watching Brother Zhou and Xiao Li get into the director's car, he returned to the studio alone, informed Director Zhao Dekai of the situation, and then began his work.

In the afternoon, Zhou Ge and Xiao Li didn't have time to return the director's car keys. Now, judging from the director's attitude, using his car shouldn't cause any problems.

The four of them found a shop specializing in rice noodles about four or five kilometers outside the village, and it smelled delicious.

As Zhou smelled the delicious aroma, he exclaimed, "No wonder it's the birthplace of snail rice noodles; the snail rice noodles here are truly exceptional."

Xiao Li followed behind and sniffed carefully as well. He asked doubtfully, "If it doesn't smell bad, can this snail rice noodle soup taste good?"

"You two country bumpkins, the snail rice noodles in Maolin City are fragrant. The ones you eat that smell bad are because one of the ingredients has gone bad, and some vendors even add odor-causing agents to make them smell bad."

Xu Zhen waited until Liu Zhongze got out of the car before closing the door beside him.

After thanking him, Liu Zhongze said, "You don't need to take such good care of me. I can close the door myself."

"Okay, Ms. Liu, do you have any dietary restrictions? I'll go and order something for you."

In the 80s, Liu Zhongze had no idea what snail rice noodles were, nor did he understand why they said they smelled good but smelled bad. He just thought that a bowl of noodles couldn't be that magical, and casually said, "I'll order it myself."

"OK."

The four of them arrived at the snail rice noodle shop. Zhou Ge was a lighting technician and Xiao Li was a photographer, so they didn't need to curry favor with Liu Zhongze. After finding a place to sit down, the two of them discussed what to eat. Zhou Ge was in charge of reserving seats, while Xiao Li went to order.

Liu Zhongze followed Xu Zhen to the boss and watched as the local residents slurped up the noodles, some even eating them directly from their hands. After finishing, they threw the noodles into the bag and returned the bowl to the boss's wife.

"What would you like to eat?"

While wiping the sweat from her face, the proprietress cooked the noodles. She glanced at the newcomer and, upon seeing that he was a cool and handsome man, her movements became momentarily flustered.

She then asked sweetly, "Handsome, what would you like to eat?"

Before Xu Zhen and Liu Zhongze could speak, a regular customer teased, "I think it's our boss's wife who's hungry; she's practically drooling."

"Go away, go away." The proprietress waved to the regular customers, then her tone returned to normal, "You two are from out of town, aren't you? I haven't seen you much before."

"Two bowls of our signature snail rice noodles, dine-in only!" Xiao Li called out as he came over and left.

While Xu Zhen was still thinking about what to eat, Liu Zhongze could only reply to the proprietress, "Yes."

"Are you here to visit relatives or to buy fruit?"

Maolin City has a wide variety of fruits and is a major producer of tangerines. If you want to buy fruits in bulk, Maolin City is a good choice.

"Neither."

At this point, Xu Zhen figured out what he wanted. He removed some things from the snail rice noodle recruitment list, pointed to some other food items next to him, roughly meaning to add them in, and then stood next to Liu Zhongze and waited.

"Okay, so you're here to work?"

The proprietress was unusually talkative today, as if she had endless things to say.

Liu Zhongze knew that Xiucai's village was called a ghost village by the locals. If the landlady found out where he came from, he would probably be kicked out.

"Boss lady, I also need a job posting." After saying that, Liu Zhongze didn't give the boss lady a chance to continue the conversation and walked with Xu Zhen to where Brother Zhou and Xiao Li were.

After a while, the proprietress personally brought out four bowls of noodles. Three of them looked very appetizing, but they were far less than the remaining bowl, which was overflowing with good stuff.

The proprietress smiled and placed the largest serving of her signature snail rice noodles in front of Liu Zhongze. Her eyes were fixed on Liu Zhongze's face like hooks, and even when serving noodles to other people, her gaze never left Liu Zhongze.

Xiao Li chuckled as he whispered something to Brother Zhou, his gaze occasionally drifting to Liu Zhongze.

Even when Xu Zhen picked up the snail rice noodles, his lips were still upturned when he opened his mouth wide.

"Thanks."

"Don't mention it~"

The proprietress returned to the shop entrance with a beaming smile and continued cooking noodles for the customers, but her eyes kept drifting intentionally or unintentionally toward where Liu Zhongze was.

Liu Zhongze didn't care about any of that. He picked up his chopsticks and started eating in big mouthfuls. He ate very quickly, as if it were a memory etched into his soul. Even though it was the largest portion, he ate it faster than everyone else.

Seeing this, the other three stopped taking their time and quickly finished their noodles before the four of them set off again toward the village.

"Boss lady, stop laughing. Look which direction those people are driving in."

The proprietress glanced at it briefly, then her body seemed to freeze in place.

The regular customer joked, "Could they be the scholar's guests?"

The proprietress's face darkened, and she said coldly, "Why aren't you going home after you've eaten? What are you doing in my shop? Aren't you afraid your wife will come knocking on your door?"

After driving away regular customers, the proprietress hasn't smiled once all day.

Liu Zhongze's new round of filming is about to begin; it remains to be seen whether any unexpected events will occur...
