The instructor didn't argue anymore and simply raised the metal corridor, which industry insiders generally call a "ladder," even though it doesn't look much like a ladder at all.

"Instructor, this is the Eight Characters Guidance..." Xu Xian sat down and adjusted his seat for a while before realizing that the flight guidance was not the Boeing 737's cross guidance, but the Eight Characters guidance.

"Huh? What? It's a birth chart guidance?" The instructor pushed up his glasses, glanced at PFD, and said, "It really is a birth chart guidance! Which company flew it from? Why didn't you say so earlier? I've wasted my time!"

The Boeing 737 definitely cannot fly in figure-eight pattern, so the simulator needs to be restarted and all the settings changed. This will invalidate the parameters that the instructor just entered and they will need to be entered again.

While the instructor was engrossed in setting up the data, he suddenly waved his hand: "Don't wait around! Xu Xian, right? Teach her how to prepare the cockpit, don't just sit there!"

Although Lian Shanxue wasn't Xu Xian's favorite type, he found her very comfortable to be around; she was a poised and generous girl.

Xu Xianqing cleared his throat, tightened his tie, and said in a professional tone, "The first thing is the power-on procedure!"

"Power-on procedure? Isn't that the pre-flight check?" Unexpectedly, Lian Shanxue raised a question in the very first item.

"Oh, this..."

Xu Xiangang was about to explain when Lian Shanxue raised her hand to interrupt him: "Wait a minute, let me translate it!"

Lian Shanxue found the electronic version of the SOP and pointed to the first paragraph of the normal procedures section: "It's the initial flight check, right?"

Lian Shanxue showed Xu Xian the first page of the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) chapter, which clearly stated that the first step was the initial pre-flight check.

"Then you need to have electricity, what if the plane isn't connected to power? You have to get the power on!" Xu Xian said.

Lian Shanxue asked, puzzled, "Then why not put the power-on procedure on the first page of the normal procedure?"

"A supplementary procedure?" Lian Shanxue frowned her cute eyebrows and flipped through the SOP again. Below the normal procedure section of the SOP was a supplementary procedure section. However, Lian Shanxue couldn't find the power-on procedure there.

"It's not in the supplementary program either?" Lian Shanxue clicked on the supplementary program chapter, and the table of contents showed that there was no power-on program.

"Then I'll search the entire document!" Lian Shanxue prepared to use "power-on procedure" as the keyword to search the entire SOP manual, which has this search function in the electronic manual.

Lian Shanxue was about to type in the search bar when Xu Xian stopped her. Xu Xian said somewhat helplessly, "It's not in the SOP, it's in FCOM! In the FCOM supplementary program, electrical system, power connection!"

"In FCOM?" Lian Shanxue opened the FCOM electronic manual and, following Xu Xian's instructions, soon found the power-on procedure page.

"Why isn't it in the SOP? Why is it in the FCOM? And the program is clearly called Power On, why are you calling it Power On Program?" Lian Shanxue bombarded Xu Xian with questions.

"Um...isn't the power-on procedure written out here? Battery switch, cover closed. Backup power switch, cover closed. Backup flap main switch, cover closed. Windshield wipers in PARK position, electric hydraulic pump switch off, landing gear handles down." Xu Xian didn't even need to look at the manual; he just recited it from memory: "If you want to connect to an external power source, first check if the ground power available light is on. If it is, then connect the ground power switch below."

"This ground power switch is a three-position switch, held in the neutral position by a spring. Moving it up is off, disconnecting the ground power from the AC converter busbar. Moving it down is on; note that you only need to press it down momentarily, and the switch will automatically return to the neutral position. However, if you move it to the on position momentarily, it will disconnect the power previously connected to the AC converter busbar. If the ground power is working properly, it will connect the AC converter busbar to the ground power."

Lian Shanxue's small mouth opened wide: "Oh! Um... I don't quite understand! Can you try to speak like a human being?"
