100. Have I become a dark sorcerer?
Norn settled Arno in a cave and then returned to Migration City.
Although it was curfew, the patrolling soldiers recognized Norn but did not give him any trouble and let him pass directly.
The next morning, Norn left the city with a backpack full of bread and roast meat on his back.
Using his memory, Norn found the cave where Arno was hidden.
The cave entrance was hidden by vines and bushes, and no one would notice it unless they were looking for it.
Pushing aside the branches blocking his way, Norn bent down and squeezed inside.
The cave wasn't large; the deepest part was only about the size of three or four rooms. The cave walls were covered in moss, and the air was filled with a damp, musty smell and a faint stench of blood.
Arno was lying in the innermost corner of the cave.
It curled up, like a huge beast lying on its side on the ground, its gray-black skin almost blending into the surrounding rocks in the dim light.
Scattered around it were a pile of leftover bones, the food Norn had scavenged for it from the manor yesterday.
Hearing someone enter, Arno suddenly opened its pale eyes, and a layer of light red, semi-transparent shield popped out from its body, covering it completely like an inverted bowl.
Arno sprang to his feet, scanning his surroundings menacingly, letting out low growls. Only when he recognized Norn as the newcomer did his tense body slowly relax, and the crimson shield vanished.
Arno sat back down on the ground, picked out a leg bone with some remaining flesh from the pile of broken bones, and handed it to Norn. His foul-smelling mouth stretched out, staring at Norn with a half-smile.
Norn waved his hand, "No need, you can eat it yourself."
Arno nodded, threw the bone into his mouth, and began to crunch it.
Norn sat down on a rock opposite Arno and asked, "You know magic?"
Arno clearly didn't understand what the word "magic" meant, and simply summoned a pale red blood-colored shield just like before.
This time Norn saw it clearly. He reached out and tapped it, as if he had tapped a boulder.
Without a doubt, this is the magic shield!
But this guy is definitely not a monster.
There was no trace of magic crystals on Arno's body, and there were no dungeon entrances around the City of Light.
Moreover, monsters cannot simply emerge from dungeons for no reason; that would require a large-scale anomaly like an abyss riot.
Norn couldn't understand it, but he didn't intend to delve into it further. Rather than investigating Arno's background, Norn now wanted to obtain its magical shield.
The illumination and lightning spells he currently possesses were acquired through possessing other people's bodies; his original magical talent is far too poor, and it's simply a pipe dream for him to learn magic on his own.
"Arno, in a moment a voice will appear in your head asking if you agree to the brain transfer. Do you agree?"
Norn took off his backpack and handed Arno a bread roll filled with roasted meat and jam.
Arno took it and eagerly put it in his mouth to eat. Then Arno turned his backpack upside down and dumped all the food on the ground.
For the sake of the food, Arno nodded in agreement to Norn's request, even though he didn't understand what it meant.
As his mind transferred to Arno, Norn's vision went black, and he saw his brainless body slump to the ground like a lump of mud.
Norn felt a long-lost sensation, a sense of magical fulfillment he had last experienced while inside Louisa's body.
But he couldn't be sure which of Arno and Louisa had a larger magic reserve, since the difference between ten thousand and one million wasn't that significant in the face of 1.
"Arno possesses such terrifying magical power!"
Before Norn could finish his exclamation, he made another major discovery:
Arnold's control over magic is equally astonishing!
Within this body, Norn's perception of magic was incredibly concrete, like clay in his hands, which he could mold into whatever shape he wanted and cast whatever spells he desired.
He had experienced the same feeling once in Louisa's body.
"It seems that I can gain much more from this body than just a magic shield!"
Although Norn doesn't currently need to become stronger, it's always good to have more skills and learning more things can't hurt.
With a slight thought, Norn's thin, pale red shield rapidly expanded, enveloping him within it, followed by a second layer, a third layer...
The crimson shield wrapped around him like an onion, so thick that he couldn't see outside.
The next second, Norn deactivated the shield, and the layers of shield shattered into specks of light.
Norn then tried low-level fireball and healing spells, and each one was successful.
Unfortunately, Norn hadn't read any books about practicing magic, otherwise he could have unleashed even more magic and copied it into his mind.
However, I don't need to fight, so learning these skills is enough for me.
Once Norn felt he had enough, he withdrew his thoughts.
Arno, who had just regained consciousness, was a little dazed, but seeing the delicious food on the ground, he stopped thinking about it and began to eat heartily.
Norn already had the casting templates for the magic shield, fireball, and healing spells in his mind. With a wave of his hand, the crimson shield quickly took shape.
"Great, my magic power should have increased accordingly."
Norn brought up the panel in his mind:
[Location: Brain]
[Level: 1]
【Characteristics: Magical Inspiration, Addiction Immunity, Demonic Decree, Evil God's Blessing】
[Magic value: 63]
[Fel Energy: 24]
"What the hell!? Another trait! And what is this fel energy value?"
Seeing that his magic power had not increased, and considering the name "Blessing of the Evil God," Norn instantly realized that what he had just released was not legitimate magic at all.
Or perhaps the magic he just used in his spell wasn't orthodox Holy Emperor magic, but rather the evil god magic within that blood crystal!
Thinking of the blood-red color of the magic shield, Norn quickly recalled that the magic shield that Pulsi had released earlier was exactly the same.
Like any normal magician, Arno's body automatically generates a continuous stream of fel energy.
"I wonder how envious those dark magicians will be when they see this guy."
After reflecting on his experience, a question arose in Norn's mind: Should he hand over Arno?
Norn didn't really want to do this. After getting to know Arno, Norn felt that Arno wasn't a bad person at heart, and that the killing was probably an unintentional act in a state of excitement. Besides, Norn didn't have a good impression of the dead merchants either.
More importantly, Arno listens to me, and I can learn a lot of magic from him, even if it's all dark magic, but it's better than knowing nothing.
Norn stood up and said to it, "You stay here. People outside are looking for you. I will bring you food every day from now on."
Upon hearing this, Arno's mouth gaped open in shock, spilling his chewed food all over the floor, and he nodded hurriedly.
Norn didn't know why it reacted so strongly, but he didn't think about it too much. He turned around and left the cave, pulling up the bushes as he went.
