Arno led Norn to a riverbank where they stopped.

"Why aren't you running anymore?" Noon had just finished asking when Arno shook his body, causing Noon to fall off.

Arno placed his large, gray-black hand on his stomach and rubbed it, then pointed to his mouth with his other finger.

I'm hungry.

Norn realized that Arno hadn't eaten since the last meal in the cave, and with his previous fight with Dante in the forest and his subsequent frantic escape, he had probably expended far more energy than usual.

"Alright, let's rest here for a while." Norn looked around and, after confirming that there were no pursuers nearby, sat down on a flat rock.

Arno sat down as well, his massive body pressing down on the wild grass along the riverbank, creating a large clearing.

Under the moonlight, the river water was crystal clear, and several palm-sized fish could be vaguely seen swimming among the crevices of the rocks at the bottom. The fish were silvery-white, gleaming faintly in the moonlight, and looked plump and tender.

Norn raised his right hand, and a bolt of red lightning shot out from his palm, slamming straight into the river.

Water splashed everywhere, and white mist spread under the moonlight. Two fish, charred black from the electric shock, floated to the surface and drifted downstream with the current.

"The power of this black magic's red lightning is truly immense; it certainly can't compare to ordinary lightning strikes."

But this trick can't be used casually; if someone mistakes me for a dark sorcerer again, it could cause a lot of trouble.

Norn walked into the river, bent down to pick up the two charred fish, and threw them in front of Arno.

Arno didn't mind; he grabbed it, stuffed the whole thing into his mouth, chewed it a few times, and swallowed it.

After eating two fish, Arno's stomach was still not full. He raised his head, his pale eyes staring pitifully at Norn, his mouth opening and closing, making a series of indistinct "uh-huh" sounds, clearly still hungry.

Norn glanced helplessly at the river. That sudden movement had scared away all the other fish, and now there wasn't a single fish to be seen in the river.

"Sorry, there are no fish left." Norn shrugged. "Just bear with it for now, we'll go hunting when it's light."

Arno nodded, then reached into the bushes next to him, plucked a branch, and popped it into his mouth, crunching away.

Norn leaned against the tree roots, the cool bark against his back, the damp earthy scent mixed with the fishy smell of the river filling his nostrils, and his tense mind relaxed at that moment.

"Back to being broke again," Norn sighed deeply.

Without that big tree mark, the tens of thousands of Tianbi in the savings bank ended up in the pockets of those merchants. I wonder how the bear-like bank manager will laugh when he finds out.

Should we go back to Plencia to find Luisa?

The idea was immediately dismissed by Norn.

He had already promised her that he would never return to the Proncia region, and besides, he had received a huge sum of 50,000 gold coins. Now that the money was gone, wouldn't it be shameless for him to go back? Wouldn't that make him a scoundrel?

But he was not discouraged. Norn glanced at Arno, who was still chewing on a twig, and the corners of his mouth unconsciously turned up.

With Arnold Schwarzenegger as a powerful bodyguard, making money shouldn't be difficult, right?

If we're talking about a place where strength can be directly converted into cash, then without a doubt it's the dungeon.

With Arnold's abilities, he could easily handle any kind of ridiculous A-rank or S-rank mission.

Norn remembered that Caesar had mentioned to him before that there was a Howling Dungeon within the Demi-Human Federation, and that it was a neutral area without a chieftain, so it should be a good place to hide.

"This is it." Norn made a decision silently in his heart. As soon as it was light, he took Arno and headed towards the Howling Dungeon.

-

At dawn, outside the city of Bathurn, on the open ground where the papacy's envoys were to be received.

A lizard was lying on the scorched yellow earth, enjoying the warm morning sun, completely unaware that the sky above was about to change.

Clouds surged in from all directions, piling up layer upon layer above the open space, obscuring the rising sun and shrouding the entire area in shadow.

A golden beam of light crashed down from the clouds, sending a visible shockwave spreading outwards and kicking up clouds of dust.

The lizard didn't even have time to scream before its body turned into charcoal the instant it came into contact with the beam of light.

Before the beam of light had completely dissipated, a brown figure rushed out from within.

Dante transformed into a blur, hurtling towards Bathurn.

The soldiers guarding the city only saw a blur before their eyes as a brown shadow swept past them. By the time they came to their senses, the shadow had already disappeared among the densely packed rooftops of the city.

Dante moved swiftly across the rooftops, each step landing precisely on a tile without breaking it or making any unnecessary noise.

The initiation process had resumed, but the area around the church was no longer crowded with people; only a few dozen people were waiting outside.

This is because after the last incident of the black magician's infiltration, the list of all candidates was published, and the believers who were not selected no longer came to wait idly.

Dante glanced at the church, then continued on his way.

His target was not the church, but the royal palace.

Inside the palace, Saint Oran had just finished breakfast.

The silver plates were cleared away by the waiters, leaving only a glass of amber wine and an exquisite glass on the table. It was a custom in Saint Oran to have a drink after breakfast.

He picked up his glass, the amber liquid swirling gently within, releasing a rich aroma. Just as he brought the glass to his lips, a voice suddenly came from behind him:

"His Majesty."

Saint Oran's hand jerked violently, the glass slipped from his fingers and fell onto the carpet, spilling wine everywhere.

He turned around abruptly, his pupils shrinking sharply.

Dante stood less than three meters behind him, his upper body leaning in through the window, smiling at him.

"His Holiness the Dharma King!? What are you doing here?"

Dante braced himself against the windowsill, leaped lightly, and landed steadily in the room, saying slowly:

"Your Majesty must be very disappointed to see that I am still alive, right?"

Saint Oran composed himself, stood up, and said, "What are you saying, Your Majesty? I am truly pleased to see you unharmed. However, your manner of greeting was rather frightening; I thought you were an assassin..."

"Your Majesty, where have you been these past few days? Your sudden disappearance has caused many unnecessary misunderstandings. Those brown-robed envoys almost thought it was me..."

"Something happened." Dante didn't press for details, but continued along the lines of Saint Oran, "The monster created by that dark mage escaped to the Demi-human Federation, and I failed to kill it."

Saint Oran frowned slightly, but inwardly he was delighted. "Even with His Majesty the Emperor's strength, there are times when he makes a mistake?"

Dante continued, "That monster was accompanied by a dark mage, who has now escaped to an unknown location. I hope Your Majesty can send people to help search for the monster and the dark mage. Report to me immediately if any is found."

"After I send the people who have been ordained to sainthood back to the Holy Kingdom, I will return to the capital and stay here, waiting for news from them."

"That's excellent! Your Majesty! If the professors in Tandinger knew you were staying here, they would probably beg you to return and preach." Saint Oran nodded in agreement.

"Let's talk about that later," Dante continued, describing Norn and the others' appearances.

"The monster was over two meters tall, its body was grayish-black, its skin had white cracks, it had a single horn on its forehead, it was very strong, and it could also cast dark magic."

"As for that dark magician, he was a young human male, about twenty years old, with delicate features."

Saint Oran listened attentively, his expression focused and sincere, showing no sign of anything amiss.

"And, this is the most important thing, that dark mage's name is Norn."
