117. This kid is just showing off.

Ok?

Strange, it seems like nothing is missing?

After the red lightning erupted, the red dots did not decrease at all and continued to hover around Norn.

Norn slapped his forehead, suddenly remembering the description of the red-eyed electric eel in the strategy guide:

Red-eyed electric eels have extremely high resistance to lightning. Their skin, after special treatment, is used to make equipment that is top-tier armor for mages to fight against lightning magic, and is also an essential ingredient for lightning-resistant potions.

"Since I can't kill him with electricity, I'll have to resort to fists and kicks," Norn thought to himself.

He stretched his hands out of the shield, pushed aside the icy lake water, and swam toward the red dots.

Arnold is far less agile in the water than on land, but fortunately his strength is terrifying enough that he can propel himself several meters with each stroke.

The surrounding red dots darted around, but they couldn't outrun Norn. Soon, a gray-white eel was illuminated by the ball of light.

Norn reached out and grabbed the electric eel's tail tightly with his five fingers. Then he raised his fist and smashed it directly on its head. Several streaks of blood appeared, and the electric eel immediately went still.

A few minutes later, a small mound rose from the calm lake surface, revealing the blood-red shield beneath.

Norn surfaced, swam to the shore, carrying the corpses of three red-eyed electric eels and several other monster corpses he had picked up along the way.

Norn retrieved his brain and sat up from the bushes, his body covered in dead leaves and grass clippings, with a few dry grasses stuck in his hair.

Arno had just regained consciousness when he looked down and saw a bunch of delicious food in his hand.

Without a second thought, it grabbed an electric eel and stuffed it into its mouth.

"Arno! Put it down!" Norn shouted sternly, and Arno was so frightened that he quickly let go.

Norn then softened his tone, pointing to the other monster corpses and saying, "Eat these. Don't move those eels, understand?"

Arno nodded blankly, picked up the corpse from the ground, and began to devour it.

While Arno was eating, Norn tore off a few pieces of rag from Arno's body, rolled them into ropes, and tied them up with the three electric eels.

"Have you finished eating? If you have, let's continue. We still have two tasks to do."

The next morning, as the morning sun peeked over the eastern mountains, golden rays spilled onto the messy rooftops.

In the Adventurers' Guild Hall, Mur and his team arrived early.

Several people gathered in front of the counter, and Mur returned the task he had snatched from Norn the day before.

Last night, in a fit of anger, he snatched the A-level mission in order to show off in front of Norn.

But when he got back and thought about it, he realized he had been too impulsive.

Clearing out a frost spider nest on the fifth floor? This kind of difficult task only rewards 20 gold coins?

Mur immediately realized that this must be a task that had just been posted, and some people were deliberately leaving it unfinished so that their employers would raise the price.

This task isn't too difficult. As long as you prepare cold-resistant medicine and some supplies, it's quite easy to complete.

The problem is that the reward is too low. After deducting the cost of preparing the potion, you might only get ten gold coins, which is not cost-effective.

So early in the morning, Mur and the other team members came to cancel the mission.

But he didn't feel ashamed, because compared to that arrogant guy Norn, he had already restrained his bravado.

That kid accepted three A-level missions in one go. It was just reckless and audacious. Any normal person would think it was an impossible task.

He wasn't the only one; several other members of the team thought the same way.

They were certain that Norn would come to cancel the quest this morning, so they quietly canceled it while there were few people in the guild, to avoid being seen and laughed at.

So Mur and the others arrived an hour early, just to wait for Norn to come over and see the kid's crestfallen expression when he slunk away from the mission.

They waited from the first light of dawn until the sun was high in the sky, and from high in the sky until almost noon, but they didn't even see Norn's shadow.

Murr couldn't sit still any longer. He got up, walked to the counter, and jokingly said to the female clerk who was organizing documents:

"Why hasn't that bronze-level adventurer who accepted three A-rank quests last night returned to cancel them? Is he trying to pay delay fees?"

The female employee looked up, her quill pen hovering in mid-air, a strange expression on her face. "Rejected the quest? He just accepted the quest last night and went straight into the dungeon."

Mur paused for a moment, then laughed.

He returned to the group and said to the others, "This kid is quite concerned about his image. He went all out with his act, even going into the dungeon last night."

"We won't take any missions today. We'll just wait here for him to come back, and then we'll laugh at him mercilessly!"

The team members felt that this was going too far. It seemed that what happened last night had a significant impact on Mur, as he was willing to stop work to watch the kid make a fool of himself.

However, they were too embarrassed to refuse, after all, they had worked hard to get Mur to join them, and it would be a huge loss if they were kicked out of the team because of this.

So they all chimed in, chattering away and saying bad things about Norn:

"That kid's obviously out of his mind. He can't even brag properly. I could admire him if he got a B-rank mission, but three A-rank missions in one go? Who wouldn't laugh?"

"I think he's just interested in that woman and wants to show off in front of her."

"Ugh—what's so attractive about that woman? The girls I sell in Low Leg Alley are better looking, and you can sleep with them for two silver coins a night..."

Their conversation quickly veered off course, shifting from a scathing critique of Norn to a debate about who could get the best value for their money by sleeping with prostitutes.

Mur wasn't interested in their dirty jokes; all his energy was focused on Norn. He just wanted to make fun of Norn and regain the face he'd lost last night!

Just then, a team member sitting by the window suddenly pointed to the door, his voice trembling with excitement, "Captain, that kid's back!"

Mur's spirits lifted, and he turned his head sharply. A draft had automatically formed in his mind, and it was about to burst forth like a flood.

However, when he saw it clearly, his expression froze.

Norn strode into the guild.

His clothes were covered in dust and dried blood, his hair was disheveled, and there were several gray marks on his face, making him look like he had been rolling in the mud.

But none of that matters; what matters is what he's holding in his arms.

Three red-eyed electric eels were neatly tied together, their grayish-white bodies gleaming brightly in the sunlight.

The strange man wrapped in rags following behind him was even more outrageous.

It raised its arms and held up a tattered cloth.

The tattered cloth contained several magic crystals of varying thicknesses and a pile of brownish-green seeds.
