Arno let go, and the man fell from mid-air, landing on the wet floor. He covered his head and quickly scrambled away from Arno.

Norn got out of bed and confronted the strange man, demanding, "Who are you? Why are you in my room?"

The man raised his head, his pale face regaining some color. He was about to answer when his gaze became fixed on Norn's crotch and he couldn't look away.

Norn glanced down at his best buddy, quickly grabbed some shorts and put them on: "Don't change the subject, answer me!"

The man then snapped out of his daze, pushed himself up from the floor, straightened his collar which Arno had crumpled, took a deep breath, and tried to make himself look as disheveled as possible.

"Hello, I'm an employee of the Adventurers' Guild. Are you Mr. Homan?"

Norn nodded. "Yes, that's me. What's wrong?"

"Great! I heard Mr. Homan is interested in S-class missions, and there just happens to be one. I was wondering if you'd like to participate."

"What S-rank mission?"

Seeing that Norn did not refuse outright, the man quickly pressed his advantage, "Do you know Lord Shared, the son of Duke Wald of the Kingdom of Eton? He is a passionate scholar of dungeons. He just arrived in Desert Village today and is planning a new round of dungeon explorations. He needs to recruit adventurers as bodyguards."

Norn didn't completely trust him, after all, he had never heard of a guild member personally seeking out adventurers to accept quests.

"Are you kidding me? What guild recruits adventurers for quests?"

"The recruitment location is right next to the guild. You can go and take a look yourself. The guild sent me to find you mainly because we recognize your strength and believe that your participation in this mission will better protect Lord Sharred's safety. If something happens to the Duke's son in the dungeon, the guild leader cannot bear the consequences."

Norn thought it made sense; when Austin was trapped in the dungeon, Pinas was also extremely anxious.

"Sigh, these dukes' offspring are really a handful."

Norn thought to himself, then asked the man, "There's another question: how did you find me, and how did you get in?"

"This inn is owned by the guild. I heard you were staying here, so I rushed over. As for how I got in..."

The man glanced at Arno, who was covered in gray and black, and pointed to the door with a large hole in it, saying, "I knocked on the door, and then your companion smashed it open and dragged me in..."

Recalling what had just happened, he felt as if his head had been crushed like an egg, and he couldn't stop trembling.

Norn sighed helplessly and turned to look at Arno, who was not wearing any clothes.

"I'm sorry, this guy was experimented on by a dark sorcerer before, and that's how he turned out, but he's not a bad person at heart."

"I understand, but this really terrified me. I'll probably have nightmares for days on end, and maybe even..."

Norn understood what the man was talking about and handed him a gold coin as compensation.

"How much is the reward for that S-rank mission you mentioned earlier?" Norn asked the question he was most concerned about.

"The reward is settled personally by Lord Sharred and varies from person to person. Based on the experience of the last inspection, the minimum should be 50 gold coins."

Norn's eyes lit up immediately.

50 gold coins! And that's the minimum! He only got 56 gold coins after doing three A-level missions!

"Come on, take me to see." Norn stood up and began to put on his clothes.

"Okay, I'll wait for you outside." The man said, then crawled out through the large hole in the door.

Arno received Norn's order to get dressed and began to imitate Norn's actions.

Norn saw that it had put its pants on backwards, so he quickly told it to stop and that he would put them on himself later.

The man led the two to an open space near the guild, where Norn saw a large crowd gathered to watch the spectacle.

A bespectacled man, who looked to be in his thirties, sat at a makeshift table and chair. He was dressed in typical explorer attire—a dark brown leather jacket, high leather boots, and a small notebook tucked into a lining of his chest.

His features were not particularly outstanding, but his eyes were exceptionally bright, revealing the keenness and focus unique to scholars. This was Charles, the son of the duke.

Standing beside him were a man and a cat-man.

The man was burly and had a broadsword almost as long as his arm hanging at his waist; he was clearly a swordsman.

The cat-man was much smaller, wearing light leather armor, with a sword and wand hanging at his waist, and a bow on his body. Several bottles of potions were also hidden inside the leather armor, so he was probably a free spirit who knew a thing or two.

Behind the two men stood seven or eight adventurers, who, according to the man, were those who had already passed the recruitment process.

Norn's gaze swept over those people, and suddenly he saw two familiar faces.

One of them was Mur, the mithril-level adventurer who had stolen his mission last night. At that moment, he also saw Norn in the crowd, and the proud smile on his face froze instantly.

The other was Koroya, the gold-level adventurer who brought them to Desert Village. He was embracing his wife Daisy, and the two were flirting and talking.

Although there were many people around, few wanted to go up and sign up; most were just there to watch the excitement or were debating whether or not to go.

This is understandable. Even though the reward is generous, this mission takes us to an extremely deep area, even below the ninth level. Even adventurers of the steel level dare not venture there lightly, as a single mistake could cost them their lives.

The man jogged toward Charlotte and whispered a few words in his ear.

After hearing this, Sharred raised an eyebrow, looked up, and followed the man's gaze to Norn, a hint of curiosity flashing in his eyes.

"Bronze level, completed three A-level missions in one go?"

Sharred had seen many adventurers who pretended to be weak to actually harm others, but this was the first time he had ever seen one this exaggerated.

"Sir, I'll go test his skills. In case he's up to something, it'll be inconvenient for our team to have this burden on us."

"Okay, go and give him a try." Shared nodded.

The man waved to Norn in the crowd, and Norn led Arno to the open space. The swordsman beside Sharred also went up.

"I've heard about your deeds, but the minimum standard for this recruitment is Gold level. To prevent any problems, Lord Sharred asked me to test your level," the swordsman said.

"Of course," Norn nodded. "May I ask your name?"

"Uru, a Steel-rank adventurer." With that, Uru raised his arms in front of him protectively. "Ready?"

"Don't you use a sword?"

"I'm not good at controlling my strength; if I use a sword, you'll be dead!"
