Organ rental company in another world

34. A village at the ends of the earth

This village is located in a sinkhole and is connected to the outside world through a tunnel, making it a true paradise.

The village has farmland, orchards, and a livestock breeding area, so it can be completely self-sufficient in terms of food.

The food distribution was handled by three children who appeared to be normal, one of whom had some intellectual disability and kept grinning foolishly.

Each child received a piece of fruit, a potato, a thumb-sized piece of jerky, and a mouthful of milk from an unknown animal.

They received their food and began to feast in small groups in various corners of the village.

Unlike these deformed children, Norn's dining environment was much better; at least there were stone stools to sit on.

The woman was sitting opposite Norn. Perhaps due to Id's healing magic, she had recovered very well, and it was hard to imagine that she had gone through childbirth just a few hours earlier.

The woman's name was Sarah, and she was nominally the village chief. She was very warm towards Norn, and her eyes always held genuine joy when she looked at him.

"Mom, the table is here." Id used magic to gently place a huge rock that had been suspended in the air in front of the two of them.

Then, several large leaves were used as tablecloths to cover the boulders, and the deformed children served roasted meat, animal milk, and fruit, in significantly larger portions than the others.

"Don't be shy, Lord Norn, eat your fill." Sarah tore off a leg and placed it in front of Norn.

Norn hadn't eaten for days, and even though the roast meat was clearly undercooked, it still made him swallow hard.

Norn hesitated to eat until Id tore off a piece of meat and chewed it with satisfaction before he finally felt comfortable eating.

A deformed child stood there, his eyes fixed on the roast meat on the table, drool dripping from his mouth which he couldn't close. Finally, he couldn't hold back and pounced on the table.

However, before he could even taste the roasted meat, Id grabbed his clothes and threw him away.

The deformed child fell heavily to the ground, getting a mouthful of mud.

A white magic circle appeared on Id's right hand, aimed at the deformed child who had not yet gotten up.

"Id! Stop!"

Before Sarah could finish speaking, a bolt of lightning struck the deformed child.

His body suddenly stiffened and convulsed, and urine slowly seeped into his coarse cloth trousers.

"Don't worry, Mom. I've learned my lesson this time. This level of magic won't kill anyone."

Id smiled proudly, anticipating Sarah's praise.

Norn watched as the deformed child on the ground scrambled to his feet, crying, and ran away. He asked in bewilderment, "Is this how you always treat him? Isn't he your child?"

Sarah smiled and said, "He's not my child. I remember he was... oh, her child."

Sarah pointed to a girl sitting on the steps, then shook her head: "Uh, no, no, it looks like that one."

She pointed to another one, then quickly denied it. She pointed to several incorrect ones in a row, and Sarah gave up, saying, "Oh, I can't remember. It doesn't matter."

Norn was still in a state of shock. None of the girls Sarah had just pointed out looked older than sixteen, and the youngest looked to be less than ten!

In fact, apart from Sarah, there were no adults in the village; almost everyone was a child with disabilities.

"Is Naid your child?"

Norn asked a tentative question, but Id immediately answered before he could:

"Of course I'm my mother's child! I'll always be her child!"

"I think I heard you say today that your baby is about to be born?"

Upon being asked this question, Id's head immediately drooped, and he muttered under his breath:

"It was supposed to be born, but it's all my fault. I made my mother bleed so much, and in the end, it's still the same thing as them."

After Id finished speaking, he glanced at the deformed children with disdain, while Sarah put her hand on Id's head to comfort him.

Damn, I actually stumbled upon this Cape of Good Hope storyline!

Norn finally understood that all the deformed children in the village were the result of inbreeding!

In addition, the village seems to believe in the concept of prioritizing reproduction.

Even children, once they have the ability to reproduce, will immediately give birth. This explains why the mortality rate of fetuses conceived through inbreeding is so high, yet there are still so many children in the village.

This is using the number of attempts to compensate for probability!

As for why they had so many children, and why there wasn't a single adult in the village except for Sarah, Norn didn't know and dared not ask.

This boy named Id is clearly a typical example of a guaranteed payout.

Not only is he handsome and physically healthy, but he also possesses advanced healing magic capable of healing pregnant women and lightning magic that is extremely difficult to learn.

While I wouldn't say this talent surpasses Louisa's, it far exceeds that of many high-level mages.

These are the things Norn can see. If he has any other trump cards up his sleeve, and Norn rashly raises dangerous questions that would be a desecration of their faith, he has no confidence that he can defeat the boy.

Norn forced himself to remain calm, finished his dinner, and got up to thank them.

"Sir, are you leaving?" Sarah asked, getting up.

"Yes, I have some business to attend to here. Thank you for your hospitality."

Norn was about to leave when he suddenly remembered something and turned back to ask, "Have you seen a creature here that's very big and fat, with a huge mouth on its belly and three heads?"

Sarah shook her head: "There are monsters outside, so we rarely go outside, except for Id, who often goes out."

Id shook his head: "Never seen them. There are only very dark, very big people outside. They're incredibly powerful! I couldn't possibly beat them!"

Norn nodded. It seemed that not asking questions was the right thing to do. The fact that he had survived Barnabas II showed the obvious difference in strength. He had no chance of winning in a real fight.

"My lord, it's getting late. Why don't you stay here for the night? Those monsters will be very ferocious tonight," Sarah urged.

Norn glanced at the sky. The night light here was almost the same as on the ground, unlike the upper levels. Going out seemed quite dangerous.

Anyway, these people don't seem to be bad, except for their distorted values. It shouldn't be a problem to ask them to stay for a night.

"Then I'll have to trouble you."

Sarah arranged for Norn to stay in the largest house in the village. It had a handmade wooden bed with a sheet made of rags and a pillow stuffed with weeds. This was considered a presidential suite in the area.

Norn didn't remove his armor and lay there tossing and turning, unable to fall asleep.

At that moment, firelight shone in from outside the door, and Norn instantly became alert, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword.

The wooden door opened, and Sarah came in carrying a simple oil lamp made of grease.

Instead of wearing the patched dress, she changed into a cloak woven from a few leaves and vines, which lost its function of covering her body with every movement.
