Organ rental company in another world
42. The Uninvited Guest
The walls were cracked and mottled, the wooden chairs were covered in dust and broken, and the statue of Bimbisara was incomplete.
Norn walked into the dilapidated Yaro church and wandered around, finding many good hiding spots.
After emerging from the dungeon, Norn parted ways with Joso and the others, and went to the dilapidated restaurant alone.
After confirming that the blood crystal in Norn's possession was genuine, the boss asked Norn for four hundred gold coins as a brokerage fee.
To pay the exorbitant brokerage fee, Norn had no choice but to pawn the equipment he had swindled from Pinas, keeping only a rogue's cloak. The boss then set the transaction location at this dilapidated church.
Although the boss assured Norn that these dark mages were always honest in their dealings, Norn was still worried that they wanted to get something for nothing, so he spent some money to hire a few gold-level adventurers to protect him.
While these gold-level beings are unlikely to be able to deal with those dark mages, they can at least create some chaos during negotiations to facilitate their escape.
If escape is truly impossible, Norn still has a backup plan.
He only brought a fist-sized piece of blood crystal with him for this transaction. If the other party wanted to get it for free, Norn could use the remaining blood crystal as a life-saving bargaining chip.
As night fell, Norn lit a few candles in the church and sat down on a chair under the statue of Bimbisara, making it look like a cult event.
About ten minutes later, the faint sound of horses' hooves came from the forest path outside the church gate, and the yellow light of a few oil lamps slowly emerged from the darkness.
They tied the horse outside the church, leaving one person to watch over it, while the rest went inside.
Norn felt uneasy as he saw them approaching him silently, clad in black robes.
The man in the lead took off his hood, revealing an extremely kind face, a stark contrast to Norn's impression of him as a malnourished cultist.
"Let me tell you something before we start the transaction: your worries are unnecessary. We have always valued integrity to ensure the continuity of our transactions."
We will not only refrain from harming you, but we will also do everything in our power to protect your safety. Therefore, your companions no longer need to hide; let them leave.
The man in the lead glanced sharply across the dark church and spoke.
But Norn couldn't believe it and replied, "There's no one else in the church but us. You're overthinking it."
"I see. Forgive my intrusion, but the transaction can begin now."
Just as Norn had expected, these people didn't even notice the helper Norn had hired; they just asked him casually.
Norn took the blood crystal that emitted a red glow out of his bag. The man carefully took it and examined it closely.
He then asked, "Eight thousand gold coins, is that a reasonable price?"
After speaking, the man dutifully returned the blood crystal to Norn.
"I don't want money, I need you to do something for me." Norn said, turning his body slightly to the side and pulling down his collar to show them the brand on the back of his neck.
"The Killing Curse, help me break it, you should have a way, right?"
The man squinted, examined Norn's brand closely, and shook his head, saying:
"I'm not very familiar with these kinds of curses. Why don't you go to Baserum and spend some money to have a priest perform a purification ritual for you? It would only cost five or six hundred gold coins at most."
"Hmm!? This is black magic. You should be the only ones who can do this, right?" Norn sensed that the other party's reaction was a bit off.
"What black magic? We're not black magicians, how could we possibly have a solution?"
???
Damn, so they weren't dark sorcerers, they just wanted to buy blood crystals!
"My master wants to acquire a blood crystal as a collectible. Didn't that one-eyed guy tell you?"
In the end, Norn could only earn 8000 gold coins with tears in his eyes.
Back at the inn, Norn looked at the bag of shimmering red blood crystals and decided to go see the owner again tomorrow and ask him to find some real dark mages!
That night, Norn fell into a deep sleep in bed, and in his dream he met Id and Sarah.
Sarah took off her clothes, her smile growing increasingly ferocious. Then she plunged her hands into her skull and ripped herself in two, several fleshy tentacles emerging from her body.
Id had lost his upper body, with his head protruding from the severed body, and he grinned as he walked toward Norn.
They each grabbed one side, lifting Norn high into the air, roaring and straining. The moment Norn's body was broken, he suddenly woke up!
"Hoo—a nightmare?" Norn gasped for breath, his back soaked with sweat.
Norn hid the bag of blood crystals under his bed, and perhaps for that reason, he always felt a vague unease.
Lying back down on the bed, Norn casually reached out and suddenly touched something furry.
"A pillow?" Norn was a little dazed and subconsciously wanted to hug it.
"No way! Where did these plush pillows come from?!"
Norn realized what was happening and suddenly shrank back into the furry thing in his hand.
Something has sneaked into the room!
Norn braced himself on the mattress, trying to sit up, but his Adam's apple suddenly bumped against a line of ice-cold flesh.
"Lie still and don't move, or you'll die."
A very unnatural voice rang out, sounding as if it had been deliberately forced out.
Norn closed his eyes and gathered magic in front of him.
"Watch your eyes!"
"Quack!! My eyes!!"
The man screamed, covered his eyes, and the dagger that had been held to Norn's neck was removed. Norn took the opportunity to kick the man hard.
After being trained by the human-faced monkey, the level of his right foot reached level 14, and he kicked the man away, sending him crashing into the wall.
Norn quickly got up and, under the illumination of the orb of light, picked up the longsword beside the bed.
"Hey! Who goes there!"
Norn moved the orb of light toward the uninvited guest, his tense expression instantly relaxing.
A little girl was lying on the ground with two animal ears on her head. The pillow that Norn had just touched was her.
"Where did this demi-human come from!?" Norn was shocked.
"I surrender... I surrender... Please stop fighting!"
The demi-human girl wobbled to her feet and knelt on the ground, bumping her forehead against the floor. However, she bumped it too hard and knocked herself unconscious.
