Organ rental company in another world
68. Xia Ya
The bodies in the car were in extremely gruesome condition; almost none of them were intact, resembling pieces of a jigsaw puzzle torn apart by wild beasts.
Suddenly, a sow-man with a swollen belly squeezed out of the crowd, rushed towards the cart carrying the corpse, picked up half of the sow-man's body, and wailed loudly:
"Waaaaaah!! I told you not to go over there, I told you not to be a hero! Why wouldn't you listen?!"
The demi-humans accompanying the carriage were all dejected. One of them, an orange-yellow cat-man, whispered to his companion beside him, "Who is she?"
"Lu Lang's wife is due to give birth in a few days, and then this happened..."
The cat-man's face darkened further after hearing this.
"Madam, I bear a great deal of responsibility for Lu Lang's death. It was I who sent him to chase after those humans..."
Before the cat-man could finish speaking, the sow-man slapped it across the face with such force that it almost knocked it over.
The sow-woman looked at the cat-woman for a while, filled with grief and indignation. Realizing she had acted impulsively, she picked up her husband's half-dead body and ran away.
Norn nearly fainted when he saw this scene from the carriage.
Isn't that the cat-man who chased after Batel and his group the day before yesterday?!
So these guys aren't some kind of demi-human bandits, they're fucking regular soldiers!?
I was tricked by Batel and his gang!
Although there must have been some misunderstanding, it is true that I let Batel and the others escape because of my own reasons. What's more, several of their brothers died. In this situation, they might even kill me in a fit of anger, let alone let me explain myself.
Norn quickly ordered the tiger-man to turn his horse around and leave this dangerous place, fearing that he would be recognized.
The cat-man was pulled up by his companions, and his gaze wandered through the crowd for a while before finally settling on a familiar carriage.
His orange pupils continued to shrink, and the sadness on his face was gradually replaced by anger.
"Quick, chase after that carriage! It belongs to those humans!"
After saying that, the cat-man drew his sword, which was as sharp as a sewing needle, and charged toward Norn's carriage.
"Hurry! Run faster!"
"Sir! Where are we going?"
"Don't worry about where you're going! Just run!"
Although the tiger-man was dim-witted, he roughly understood under these circumstances that Norn was no good, so he immediately let go of the reins, jumped off the carriage, and fled.
As soon as the carriage stopped, Norn heard several thuds from behind. A figure in orange-yellow jumped in front of the carriage and looked menacingly into the carriage.
A man dressed in dark blue clothes fell inside. The next instant, the horse pulling the carriage suddenly raised its right leg, its strong muscles bulging with veins, and kicked the cat-man away.
A fruit stall by the roadside was knocked over by a cat-man, scattering various fruits all over the ground.
The cat-man was in excruciating pain, his left arm, which had been directly hit by the horse's hoof, was broken, and several splinters had pierced his right arm.
The other demi-humans rushed over, and one of them took out half a bottle of healing potion and fed it to the cat-human.
"Never mind me! Grab him! He's in that carriage!"
Upon hearing this, the two lizardmen rushed into the carriage, only to find no one there. They then peered out the window.
A man's figure was running through an alleyway directly in front of the car window.
"He escaped into the alley! Zog and I will go after him, you guys run ahead and surround him!"
Two lizardmen rushed into the box, shouting for the demi-humans inside to help stop Norn.
The alley was mostly filled with pimps and beggars resting there. When they saw Norn running wildly with a long sword in his hand, they didn't even have time to run away, let alone stop him.
Just as they were about to reach the exit of the alley, several demi-humans riding horses appeared at the exit.
"So fast!?"
Knowing he was caught in a pincer movement, Norn quickly conjured a ball of light behind him.
The lizardmen chasing behind immediately realized what Norn was planning and shouted at the top of their lungs, "Close your eyes! Close your eyes! This kid's about to unleash a flashbang!"
But the distance was too great, and after the sound echoed several times in the closed alley, it became very faint, and the companions outside did not hear it.
Several demi-humans of various races gripped their weapons and formed a semi-circle around the alley entrance.
"Don't kill him. The captain needs him to find out where those humans are hiding," a bear-man warned.
Soon, Norn rushed out of the alley, and before the demi-humans could launch their attack, he shifted his body to the side, revealing the sphere of light behind him that was about to explode.
"Damn it! It's that trick again!"
A blinding light suddenly shone, dazzling the demi-humans and onlookers, and Norn took the opportunity to slip through their encirclement and escape into another alley.
However, the flash effect during the day is still not as good as at night.
One of the kobolds recovered quickly, and while everything around him was still blurry, he drew an arrow, nocked it, and shot it at the Norn figure.
A piercing pain shot through him; the arrow had pierced Norn's right calf.
Blood flowed down his ankles into his shoes, and Norn grimaced in pain with every step.
He tried to pull the arrow out, but found that the shaft was covered with barbs. Pulling it out would not only be extremely painful, but it could also widen the wound and worsen the injury.
Suddenly, Norn's eyes caught sight of a rat gnawing on rotten fruit in the corner. In an instant, a brilliant idea struck him, and he switched his right leg over to the rat and then immediately pulled it back.
After his right leg disappeared, the arrow fell back to the ground, but the wound on his calf was still there, and Norn could only endure the excruciating pain and continue running.
After staggering along the wall for a while, Norn came across a stone staircase.
It was clearly impossible for Norn to quickly cross the stairs with his injured foot, so he took the sword from his waist, held it in his arms, and rolled down the stairs on the ground.
After a dizzying spin, Norn landed on the ground. Ignoring the pain, Norn struggled to his feet and was about to continue running when…
A familiar voice rang out: "Lord Norn?"
Norn turned his head sharply and found a little human girl with animal ears standing next to him.
"Xia Ya?"
Norn recognized him as the monstrous demi-human who had ambushed him in the hotel earlier, trying to steal money to lift the curse.
She carried a bamboo basket on her petite right wrist, filled with purple-blue orchids.
A delighted smile spread across Xia Ya's face, but before she could catch up, the voices of the demi-humans came from the alleyway beside her: "His foot is injured! He can't have gone far, let's chase after him!"
Norn noticed an empty bamboo basket behind Xia and said seriously, "Xia, do me a favor..."
Before Norn could finish speaking, Xia Ya understood what Norn wanted to ask of her and nodded in agreement, saying, "Don't worry, Xia Ya understands!"
The dog-headed man charged ahead, followed by several demi-humans, as they descended the stairs, rushed out of the alley, and looked around in the street.
"Damn it, where did that guy go?"
"Sir, would you like to buy a Moon Fragrance Orchid?" Xia Ya's sweet voice came as she held up an orchid and asked the dog-headed man.
Upon seeing such an adorable creature, the kobold's hostility dissipated considerably, and he immediately switched to a gentle tone, asking, "Little friend, did you just see a human come by? He had an injury on his foot."
Xia Ya nodded vigorously, pointing to the other side of the street: "He just ran that way!"
"Good boy, take this money and buy something to eat."
The kobold took out a few earth armors from his pocket and put them into Xia's flower basket, then led the demi-humans to rush in the direction Xia pointed.
Norn, who was hiding in the bamboo basket, breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this.
