87. The strongest spear!
As the morning light streamed through the curtains and filled the bed, the effects of the black smoky powder gradually wore off, and Norn slowly opened his eyes.
I'm alive.
This realization was like a bucket of hot water poured on his frozen limbs, instantly warming him up.
Norn sat up abruptly, reaching down to touch the back of his neck. The brand was still there, and the skin felt normal, without any abnormality.
"niceeeeeeee!!"
Norn's laughter came muffledly from under the covers, growing louder and louder until he finally lay back on the down pillow, limbs outstretched, staring at the exquisite wood carvings on the ceiling, and let out a long breath.
Pulsey wasn't lying to him; there was no such killing curse at all. It was all a lie fabricated by Angre from beginning to end, with the aim of making him never dare to take back his manhood.
"Damn it, Angre..." Norn cursed through gritted teeth, but a smile lingered in his eyes.
Despite his cursing, he was so happy at that moment that even the names of his enemies seemed somewhat endearing.
Thinking of this, Norn quickly brought up the panel and took a look.
[Location: Style]
[Level: 18]
[Special Abilities: Unyielding, Flexible, Resilient with Age, Immune to Burns, Resilience]
!! ?
Norn's expression shifted from anticipation to shock, and then from shock to an indescribable complexity.
Level 10...18?
And what the heck are all these random, nonsensical features?!
Angre actually managed to raise his style to level 18, and it even came with five special characteristics.
Norn's gaze slowly swept over the long list of entries, and with each one he read, a picture automatically appeared in his mind. Without exception, the main character in each picture was Angre's greasy, chubby face.
"That guy's really something," Norn remarked sincerely, his tone even carrying a hint of admiration.
However, now is not the time to reminisce about Angre's achievements.
Norn jumped out of bed, quickly washed up, changed into a presentable robe, pushed open the door of the mansion, and strode confidently into the streets of Miguang City.
He wanted to verify the value of these eighteen levels.
The city of Miguang was as bustling as ever during the day, with various races of demi-humans moving back and forth on the chalk-paved avenues.
Norn stood tall and proud, his gaze sweeping across the crowd, paying particular attention to the subhuman women standing at the alley entrance, dressed scantily and with captivating eyes.
This is too old.
This is too small.
This is too ugly.
……
From one end of the street to the other, Norn passed over one candidate after another.
Perhaps because he cherished this first time with this new style, Norn was particularly picky when making his selections.
There was nothing he could do but turn back and lower his standards a little to continue his selection.
He quickly found his target.
A graceful cat-woman prostitute leaned against the stone wall at the alley entrance, her orange-yellow fur gleaming softly in the sunlight, a slender tail swaying gently behind her.
It saw Norn return, and although it was somewhat puzzled, a hint of surprise flashed in its emerald vertical pupils. After all, Norn was now impeccably dressed and had an impressive appearance, clearly a generous spender.
Norn stopped in front of it.
He sized up the cat-woman in front of him. She had delicate features, a good figure, beautiful fur, and a unique charm that set her apart from other streetwalkers.
"Sir, would you like to come in and have a seat?" The cat-woman winked at him, but Norn was stunned when he heard her voice.
"Are you a man?"
"Of course, but don't worry, my skills are no worse than those bitches'." With that, the cat-man grabbed Norn and tried to drag him through the wooden door to the side.
Norn abruptly pulled his hand away and ran off in disgust.
He then turned to look at another lizardwoman prostitute standing on the street not far away, her bare shoulders covered in fine, bluish-green scales that gleamed coldly in the sunlight.
Looking further away, there was a tall dog-man with fluffy, droopy ears on either side of his face, wagging his tail at him.
"Hey, sir, what's wrong? Don't you like it?" the cat-woman prostitute called out to him from behind.
Norn waved his hand without turning his head.
After wandering the streets for a long time, Norn gradually realized that he didn't seem to be a Fury fanatic.
He certainly likes cute kittens and puppies, but when it comes to having sex, he'd rather not.
He longed for the alluring human women of the red-light district of Basel, for their subtle perfumes and the dimples on their lips when they smiled, not for the hairy, shimmering alien beauties before him.
As I was walking, a sweet floral fragrance suddenly wafted into my nostrils.
Norn followed the scent and saw a shop under renovation on the street corner.
Two workers were using a ladder to hang a sign on the lintel. The sign had a blooming flower carved on it, and next to it, in neat handwriting, it read "Xia Ya's Flower Shop." It wasn't officially hung up yet and was lying on the ground waiting for final polishing.
The shop's door was open, and the interior was filled with bouquets of all sizes.
Bundles of purple-blue orchids were leaning against the wall, pink and white star-petal flowers were placed in earthenware jars on a wooden shelf, and there were some other flowers that Norn couldn't name, red and yellow intermingled, filling the entire shop to the brim.
A petite figure was busy among the flowers, her fluffy animal ears twitching with her movements.
"Xia Ya," Norn called from the doorway.
Xia turned around abruptly, and the moment she saw Norn, a smile bloomed on her young face. She jumped out from the pile of flowers and skipped over to Norn, "Lord Norn! What brings you here!"
"I was just passing by and smelled the flowers, so I came to take a look." Norn looked around the small but very well-decorated flower shop and nodded approvingly. "It's pretty good. I thought you wouldn't be able to open the shop for a while."
"I originally wanted to save up some more money," Xia Ya said, lowering her head shyly and twisting her hands together. "But you returned all that money to me, sir. I calculated that it was just enough to pay for a year's rent and the cost of inventory, so I quickly took over the business. In two more days, I can hang up the signboard and officially open for business."
"I'll be there to support you then," Norn said with a smile.
As the two were talking, a worker's scream and curses suddenly rang out from the street.
"Damn it, are you blind? You bumped into our boss!"
Norn glanced at it sideways, his brow furrowing slightly.
Several demi-human thugs appeared at the entrance at some unknown time. The leader was a werewolf with a necklace of animal teeth around his neck.
The other thugs included pigmen, iguanamen, and two dog-headed men.
A wooden ladder and the construction worker were lying on the ground. When the other worker saw that the newcomers were hostile, he quickly jumped down, afraid that they would also kick the ladder over and fall to the ground.
"Tch, never mind him, let's go inside and take a look."
The werewolf abandoned the trembling worker on the ground and entered the flower shop with several fierce-looking henchmen.
Several demi-humans looked around the shop, sometimes picking a flower, sometimes breaking off a leaf, their actions were rough and didn't seem like those of people who love flowers at all.
Xia Ya's smile froze instantly. She mustered her courage and stepped forward, saying, "Dear customers, our shop is not open yet. If you would like to buy flowers, please come back the day after tomorrow."
The werewolf's fierce eyes darted around, and it casually spat the chewed flower petals into Xia's shoes.
"It's not like I'm not going to pay you. Do you really think I'm some kind of scoundrel who takes things for free?" The werewolf rolled his eyes, casually pulled out three earth armors, and threw them on the ground.
"Guys, take whatever you want, I've already paid."
As soon as the werewolf finished speaking, his other underlings echoed in unison, and the group began to carry the flowerpots one by one, preparing to leave.
"This money can't even buy a single stick of moonflower! Put it down!" Xia Ya shouted at them in her childish voice, unable to bear it any longer.
This sound was exactly what the werewolves wanted; now they had a reason to cause trouble.
"Why sell a bunch of broken flowers for such a high price when they're neither edible nor usable? Why don't you spend the night with us and keep us happy, maybe we'll give you a few more sea bream."
The werewolf grinned lewdly and reached out his claws toward Xia Ya, but was blocked by a tall, imposing figure.
"Go ahead and pick a fight, why are you wasting your breath?" Norn said.
