The Wizard: Starting with Infinite Part-Time Jobs

Chapter 10 Ms. Ollie, the Magical Four Seasons Jade

The boy didn't have time to think about why, when he was recruiting biological cultivation assistants, he was required to kill the organisms right away.

Veins bulged on his forehead, his hands trembled slightly, and he grabbed the small knife from the ground...

He pressed the struggling little red fox firmly to the ground. The little red fox kicked its four legs wildly, making a mournful cry, and its claws scratched marks on the ground.

Without hesitation, the boy stabbed the man in the neck, and blood spurted out instantly, splashing onto his face and clothes. He didn't bother to wipe it off and instead vigorously twisted the knife a few more times.

……

Nine minutes later.

The red fox's body lay there quietly, its heart completely removed and placed on a small plate, still beating slightly. Its fur had also been neatly peeled off and stacked aside.

Mr. Ironbeard looked at the item that met his requirements, a smile playing on his lips, his beard trembling slightly. He said with a smile, "Then it's you."

"Thank you, Lord Ironbeard!" The boy was overjoyed, his face full of excitement. He clenched his fist tightly. For him, he finally had a source of magic stones and would no longer have to worry about making a living.

"By the way, what's your name?" Mr. Ironbeard asked.

"My name is Quillins, Lord Ironbeard," the boy replied quickly, leaning forward slightly in a very respectful manner.

"Very good, then you will receive two magic stones as payment each month," Mr. Ironbeard nodded and said. He was in a good mood to have a cheap laborer.

Moreover, he has an experiment that requires a more discreet material.

Watching Quillins leave, Mr. Ironbeard's lips curled into a smile. He turned around and began to busy himself in the laboratory, arranging some experimental equipment neatly.

"Look at this address, this is Experimental Zone 072," Aiden muttered, looking at the doorway.

Just then, the door was pushed open, and a boy dressed in civilian clothes with freckles on his face walked out with a smile and light steps.

"I think I've seen this guy before. He's the boy from the tavern that day, the one whose girlfriend sold her dignity for magic stones." Aiden still remembered the boy's helpless look as he angrily slammed his hands on the table that day.

"Are you here to apply for a job too? But Mr. Ironbeard has already hired me. Why don't you go and look at other part-time opportunities?" Quillins said kindly.

Aiden paused for a moment, then spread his hands and said helplessly, "Thanks for letting me know."

He forced a smile.

He didn't ask why Quillins had also come to this experimental area. Quillins was clearly just like him, a prospective wizard apprentice, and didn't have the authority to enter.

Judging from his appearance, Quilins was clearly affected by the fact that his girlfriend had dumped him and that he had sold his dignity for magic stones; he had become a different person.

The two passed each other by, and Aiden had no choice but to look for a more challenging part-time job, namely the opportunity to become a biological culture expert.

As he walked, he looked around; the passageways in the experimental area were intricate and complex.

It took Aiden more than ten minutes to arrive at Experimental Zone 040.

What comes into view is a colorful garden, with flowers of all colors emitting a rich fragrance, but if you sniff closely, you can smell a faint stench of decay.

In the center of the garden, a woman sat in a wicker chair, holding a book as if she were reading something. Beside her was a small table with some tea set on it.

"This must be Ms. Ollie," Aiden thought to himself, straightening his clothes and taking a deep breath.

Aiden rang the doorbell, its clear sound echoing through the quiet garden.

The woman looked up and met Aiden's gaze, which sent shivers down Aiden's spine.

It was because the woman's face was distorted, and her entire face looked extremely thin, with the bones in her cheeks protruding.

More importantly, she had long purple hair that looked like a venomous snake coiled around her, swaying slightly with her movements.

"Excuse me, are you Ms. Ollie? My name is Aiden, and I'm here to apply for the position of biological culture expert," Aiden said, forcing himself to speak. His voice trembled slightly, and his hands clenched unconsciously.

"Yes. But child, are you sure you haven't come to the wrong place?" Ms. Ollie paused, her voice sharp and shrill, and continued, "What I need here is a biological cultivation expert. But you're clearly not even a formal wizarding apprentice yet."

Her eyes were fixed on Aiden.

Aiden froze. He hadn't expected that his lack of formal wizarding apprenticeship would be seen through so easily. Fine beads of sweat appeared on his forehead.

"However, since you've come all this way, I can give you a chance," Ms. Ollie said, closing her book and standing up. "Come with me."

Aiden looked down at the flower field at his feet, carefully lifted his foot, and leaned forward slightly to maintain his balance.

"Sunset Flower, Ember Chrysanthemum, Frost Whisper Flower, Jade Ink Flower..." Aiden counted as he walked, his Adam's apple bobbing up and down.

Aiden grew increasingly surprised as he walked, because these flowers of different colors all came from the various empires across the continent.

Planting these flowers of different qualities in one garden and having them bloom together is nothing short of a fantasy, yet now, this miraculous phenomenon is right before our eyes.

……

It is a simple little house, without many strange decorations, like the house of an ordinary commoner.

"You seem surprised?" Ms. Ollie sat in her chair, the wrinkles around her eyes crinkling together.

As Aiden got closer, he noticed that the section of Ms. Ollie's exposed leg looked like a dead tree trunk, not a human leg, which sent chills down his spine.

The skin on his calves was grayish-brown, covered with cracks of varying depths, like the bark of an old tree that had been scorched by fire.

He swallowed hard, suppressing his doubts.

"Ms. Ollie, I don't mean to flatter you, but it's really incredible that you can grow so many different kinds of flowers in one flower garden."

Aiden said seriously.

The two stared at each other for a few seconds. Ms. Ollie tapped her fingers lightly on the table, and Aiden's heartbeat quickened with the rhythm.

"It seems you know more than I expected," Ms. Ollie said slowly, stopping her tapping and taking out a piece of jade from her bosom. The jade was bluish-white with faint patterns on its surface.

"Since you know these things, you are at least qualified to be a biological cultivation assistant. As an appreciation, I can give you the answer: there is a Four Seasons Jade brought from the Wizarding World under this flower bed, which can simulate a simple four seasons environment."

Four Seasons Jade?

It turned out to be the case.

Aiden nodded vigorously, looking like he had learned something.

"Now, let's begin questioning you about the knowledge you possess." Ms. Ollie sat up straight.

"No problem, Ms. Ollie," Aiden said with a smile.

The image of the "Acrobat's" encyclopedia of the world's creatures flashed through Aiden's mind. For Aiden, this was an open-book exam; even more challenging practical exercises were unnecessary.

He closed his eyes briefly, and when he opened them again, his gaze was clear.
