The Wizard: Starting with Infinite Part-Time Jobs
Chapter 53 Revenge, A Pleasant Smell
On his deathbed, Vares looked at the black-clad man approaching him, his face covered, and said with a look of resentment, "Who is it?"
He gripped the ground tightly with both hands and kicked his legs wildly.
Aiden didn't say anything; he just watched Vares' life slip away.
He stood to the side, arms crossed, a cold smile playing on his lips.
A few minutes later, Vares stopped convulsing completely and died.
His body went limp on the ground, his head tilted to one side, his eyes wide open, dying with his eyes still open.
"I'd rather die than give you a quick death," Aiden said calmly.
He crouched down, reached out and gently patted Vares' face, the gesture carrying a hint of mockery.
"With the help of stealth and Eagle Eye calibration, I have no rivals at this distance." Aiden glanced at the bushes where he had previously hidden.
"Even when I'm lying down, my arrows are extremely accurate, not to mention I used the Heart Piercing Arrow. That thing is really effective, especially against the heart," Aiden said with a smile.
"A quick assassination is fun, a continuous assassination is even more fun." Aiden skillfully buried Vares's body, swinging his shovel, scooping up dirt again and again, sending dirt flying...
Before burying him, he searched his body for anything of value and thoroughly checked the contents of the house.
Aiden left without looking back, carrying a small package.
"Mr. Ironbeard has lost an assistant, and he's probably not happy about it! But this can only be done once. If it's done again, Mr. Ironbeard will suspect that someone is targeting him, and he might trace it back to me. This kind of thing can only be done once," Aiden muttered to himself.
I got a total of 20 magic stones, one ash wood wand, and two walnut wood wands.
After taking stock of his assets, Aiden accepted them without hesitation.
……
Like Harris's death, Vares's death caused no stir.
In addition to having his name listed on the missing persons list in the inner living area.
People were still coming and going around, each busy with their own things.
Vares' disappearance was a trivial matter.
On this day, Mr. Tetsu frowned as he looked at the empty laboratory, feeling somewhat annoyed.
He muttered to himself, "That Vares guy, he's already late after only a few days on the job? What a damn bastard."
Mr. Tetsu carefully placed the experimental results into that inconspicuous cabinet.
He opened the cabinet door very gently, placed the finished product in it, and then carefully closed the cabinet door, pressing it firmly down.
Seeing that Vares still hadn't arrived, Mr. Ironbeard had no choice but to go to Ms. Ollie's laboratory in person to borrow a new organism from Aiden.
Half an hour later.
"Hmm, Aiden has always been quite useful," Mr. Ironbeard said with satisfaction as he returned to the laboratory.
He walked around the lab, examining the borrowed organisms.
A few days later, Mr. Ironbeard learned that Vares had been registered on the missing persons list. He shook his head expressionlessly and said, "This guy disappeared so soon after joining the company? He seemed very stable and experienced when he reported to me; he didn't seem like someone who would have an accident so soon. As a high-ranking wizard apprentice, I naturally know what being on the missing persons list means—it means that person is very likely dead. Maybe he has some kind of enemy. This guy is really useless, wasting my time."
Mr. Ironbeard grew angrier and angrier, and suddenly slammed his hand on the table, causing everything on it to jump.
He quickly forgot about Vares and posted the job openings again, recruiting new part-time employees.
……
Two weeks later, Mr. Ironbeard found another suitable assistant, a woman named Mag, who was a witch.
That day, after finishing his work in Ms. Ollie's laboratory, Aiden stretched and was about to leave.
He was planning to go home and practice the Heart Piercing Arrow Technique; his intuition told him that he would soon reach the master level of proficiency.
However, a red-haired witch dressed in aristocratic attire stood outside the laboratory, peering into the garden.
She stood with her hands on her hips, leaned forward, and scanned the garden with a look of disgust.
"Is something the matter?" Aiden asked her.
He quickened his pace and walked up to the witch, looking her up and down.
"You're the assistant in Ollie's lab?" Marg glanced at Aiden and asked. She raised her chin, her eyes filled with disdain.
"It's me, it's Aiden," Aiden replied.
"Then I've come to the right person. I'm Marg, the new assistant in Mr. Ironbeard's lab. You need to send the Bluehorn Wolf over there right away," Marg said. She crossed her arms and spoke firmly.
"You want me to personally push the lab's organisms there? Are you treating me like a deliveryman?" Aiden retorted. He frowned, his displeasure evident.
"Is that not allowed? What's wrong with you giving him a ride?" Marge said, raising an eyebrow as if she looked down on Aiden.
She took two steps forward, closing in on Aiden, her eyes full of provocation.
Aiden took a deep breath, forced a slightly stiff smile, and slowly nodded.
Watching Marg's retreating figure without looking back, Aiden couldn't help but clench his fists.
"Damn it, this is like someone's shitting on your head," Aiden gritted his teeth and squeezed out the words.
"Ten creatures are already missing from the lab. If Ms. Ollie comes back, I really don't know how to explain it to her," Aiden said, his brow furrowed and his facial muscles twitching.
but.
He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down and suppress his anger for the time being.
Aiden knew this was a rare and excellent opportunity to get close to Mr. Ironbeard's laboratory.
Since Margaret told him to deliver it himself, he would do as she said.
As for this Marg.
A fierce glint flashed in Aiden's eyes, and a smirk appeared on his lips. He thought to himself: I'll teach her a good lesson!
……
"Is Mr. Ironbeard here? I'm here to deliver the Bluehorn Wolf." Aiden stood outside Mr. Ironbeard's laboratory, pushing the trembling Bluehorn Wolf in its cage.
The blue-horned wolf trembled with fear and let out low whimpers.
Aiden looked somewhat helpless as he raised his hand to wipe the sweat from his forehead.
"Come in," came Mr. Ironbeard's slightly deep voice from inside the house.
Soon, Aiden pushed Bluehorn Wolf into Mr. Ironbeard's laboratory.
The laboratory emitted a pungent odor, like a mixture of various chemicals, making one want to vomit.
The internal organs or limbs of many animals are preserved in glass jars filled with liquids of various eerie colors, including green, purple, and dark red, which look quite gruesome.
"Hmm, this is what a normal wizard's laboratory should be like. As a naturalist wizard, Ms. Ollie's laboratory is far too cozy." Aiden muttered to himself, wrinkling his nose and fanning it with his hand to try and dispel the pungent smell.
"It's you who's here. Put this blue-horned wolf down and leave." Mr. Ironbeard glanced at him.
Aiden nodded, only glancing briefly at Mr. Ironbeard's laboratory. The strange experimental equipment and bubbling potions made him feel a little uneasy.
Just as I was about to leave, I heard Xiaodie's weak voice in my mind: "Daddy, there's a nice smell here."
"Smells nice?" Aiden's heart skipped a beat, and his brows furrowed instantly.
