Crazy Nezha

Chapter 13 The Old Artist

Inside the guardhouse, Li Tianbao sat there with an air of nonchalance, putting on airs. He adopted the demeanor of a leader inspecting the grassroots, exuding an aura that was quite intimidating.

The old man was on the phone, his voice quite loud: "Dacheng, come quick! A reporter's here for an undercover investigation!"

"Oh, how would I know? I'm just the gatekeeper. He's looking for the factory manager, who's in the guardhouse."

"Yes, yes, I'm receiving them. It's definitely real; they have press credentials!"

"I didn't see any cameras, just him alone, oh, and a dog."

The old man hung up the phone and grabbed a bottle of mineral water.

"Reporter, have some water. I've already called the director; someone in charge will be here soon. Are you from the TV station?"

Li Tianbao kept a straight face and gave a faint "hmm".

The old man took out a box of cigarettes from his pocket; the box was almost worn smooth. He lit a cigarette and handed it over.

Li Tianbao said with a stern face, "Thank you, but our company has regulations that prohibit smoking during undercover investigations."

The old man nodded, put the box of cigarettes into his pocket, took out a box of cigarettes from another pocket, and lit one for himself.

"Our factory used to be state-owned, but now it's been contracted out to a private owner. Our factory manager looks quite sturdy. To say he uses diseased cows and pigs is probably just a smear campaign by a competitor. I think it's just a rumor."

The guardhouse has a table, a bed, and some daily necessities. It's not very big to begin with, and there are also spare clothes hanging in the room. The old man should stay here at night.

The gatekeeper was clearly a chatterbox; perhaps he was lonely guarding the gate in the suburbs. He talked on and on, not at all nervous. "Why is your wolfhound cross-eyed? Why did you bring a dog on this undercover investigation?"

Li Tianbao didn't want to say much; the more he said, the easier it would be to give himself away. Bringing a dog along was illogical; he needed to explain!

"This is a retired police dog. It has undergone rigorous training and can smell which additives are in excessive levels."

The old man found it amazing, "Is that even possible? This is the first time I've ever seen a police dog."

Suddenly, the Celestial Dog revealed a human-like smiling face.

The old man's eyes widened. "Hey, this dog can laugh!"

Li Tianbao stroked the dog's head. "Harry, sit still."

A short while later, a middle-aged man in his forties arrived. Surprisingly, he wasn't dressed in a suit and tie, but rather in work clothes.

"I'm Qiu, the workshop director of our factory. And you are?" The middle-aged man took off his rubber gloves and politely extended his hand.

Li Tianbao said solemnly, "My name is Li Tianbao. I am an in-depth investigative reporter for Oriental Today, a special editor for the agricultural technology column of the Urban Life Channel, and also a media observer for the Provincial Agricultural Products Circulation Association and a publicity liaison for the municipal animal husbandry industry."

He spoke this passage fluently and naturally. Li Tianbao had memorized this passage. It was about a reporter who played a minor role in a short drama, who went to interview the villain and was eventually shot to death by security guards with a machine gun.

Director Qiu was taken aback. "What is it you need?"

Li Tianbao said, "We received a report from the public that there was a problem with your dairy cows. Comrade Chen Rui from the Public Security Bureau was in charge of handling this matter. This is her police dog. The Public Security Bureau personnel arrived shortly afterward."

Director Qiu nodded. "Public Security Bureau? Could you please show me your identification?"

Li Tianbao looked serious and pretended to take out his ID.

He definitely can't see the ID; that's a mental patient's certificate. This workshop foreman seems quite shrewd; he's not easy to fool.

Since things have come to this point, we must not show weakness and must continue to act reasonably and logically.

Li Tianbao took out his ID, but before handing it over, he withdrew his hand and took out his phone, pretending to answer a call.

"Hey, Xiaorui..." He answered the phone as he walked to the door, his tone indignant and slightly angry.

The long van that had been parked earlier stopped at the factory gate, and several people got out. One of them, a woman, stood at the factory gate, while someone else carried a video camera and pointed it at the gate.

The female reporter was holding a large, square microphone with the "Xiao Li Helps" logo printed on it.

"Dear viewers, some people have reported that Xinyuan Meat Processing Plant has been in arrears with its workers' wages for as long as three months. Now, let's follow Xiaoli..."

There were also two young men, holding up a tripod, live-streaming.

Li Tianbao put his phone in his pocket—it was like a godsend! Plan A, which he had planned in advance, could be put on hold.

Launch Plan B and leverage the momentum!

Upon seeing this, the workshop foreman in the guardhouse quickly went out, and the old guard also went out, adjusting his hat.

Li Tianbao saw the two groups negotiating, with a professional carrying a camera following them all the way, and Xiao Li extending a microphone to ask all sorts of questions.

The workshop foreman was sweating profusely and quickly called the factory manager.

This factory definitely has problems. Some former workers have complained that it's probably deducting wages and not providing social security benefits.

This kind of problem is common in small cities. It's already difficult for small and micro enterprises to survive. Some of these deductions are malicious, while others are because they genuinely can't afford social security.

Because it was drizzling outside, the workshop director invited the reporters to the reception room next door. Several managers hurried down the second-floor railing.

For a while, no one paid attention to the man and dog at the factory gate, so Li Tianbao went to untie the cow's rope and led the cow out.

He swaggered away with the cow, and when he passed the guardhouse, the gatekeeper even opened the big iron gate for him.

"Is this really a sick cow?" the old man asked.

Li Tianbao said expressionlessly, "Whether it's a sick cow or not, we'll have to test it first. Your factory manager called you, remember, you're just a gatekeeper. Don't let people's hearts be treacherous and you get blamed for nothing."

"Oh, okay. Thank you for reminding me." The old man panicked and hurriedly walked towards the factory building.

Li Tianbao nodded, watched the old man's hurried departure, and led the ox away.

The driver of the TV station at the entrance didn't get out of the car, and was a little puzzled to see a strange young man leading a cow.

Li Tianbao's hair was wet in the drizzle.

As he passed the bread cart at the entrance, Li Tianbao stopped, opened the passenger door, took out a box of toilet paper, pretended to wipe his hair, and casually grabbed a folding umbrella.

The driver looked puzzled: "Who are you?"

Li Tianbao opened his umbrella and said unhappily, "I'm from the Animal Husbandry Bureau. What's wrong with your unit?"

The driver was completely confused. "The Livestock Bureau?"

Li Tianbao said, "Oh, so you're asking our unit to help inspect the livestock, but we're supposed to transport them ourselves?"

"No, I really don't know about this. Let me call and ask you."

"No need. Our company car is waiting around the corner. I'll use the umbrella."

The driver generously said, "Please feel free to use it. I'm sorry, this was already abrupt, and then there was another unexpected situation while I was on the bus..."

"Yes. It's all for work, I understand."

A man, a dog, and a cow strolled in the drizzle.

The young man held an umbrella, his steps steady and neither humble nor arrogant.

……

Twenty minutes later, a truck from Ant Moving arrived at the intersection of Beijiao Street. Ant Moving is an online freight moving app, similar to a food delivery ordering model.

This order was placed by Li Tianbao.

The moving driver was stunned when he learned that the move was to transport dairy cows.

This is a van, with the phrase "ants moving house" sprayed on its body.

[One-stop service, comprehensive care – Ant Moving solves your moving problems.]

Li Tianbao frowned. "What? We can't transport dairy cows?"

"Okay." The driver's face stiffened.

A van was driving on the road and soon arrived at the navigation location.

"We've arrived at Hengbi Garden."

There's no logical explanation for why Li Tianbao couldn't have brought the cow to his second uncle's house. Now that things have finally gone smoothly, he can't let his second uncle become suspicious because of this!

So he decided to move the cow to his empty bridal chamber first!

Hengbi Garden is located near Xincha Avenue in Xincheng. The first phase was quite expensive at the time, the second phase saw its price halved, and the third phase was abandoned.

This house has been vacant for many years. It was bought by Li Tianbao's parents for him as their wedding home during the peak of housing prices. It is located in a relatively high-end neighborhood.

"Drive directly to the underground parking garage."

The driver hesitated, "Could you go and say hello to the security guard?"

The community security guard stood in front of the car, a walkie-talkie clipped to his waist. Upscale communities are different; the security guards always act so arrogant towards delivery drivers, couriers, and construction workers!

Li Tianbao sat in the passenger seat, stuck his head out, and showed the homeowner information on his phone, "I'm from apartment 703 in building 1, and the furniture I ordered has arrived."

After the security guard checked and confirmed it was correct, he was filled with respect and immediately saluted, causing the underground parking garage gate to open.

The truck drove into the underground parking garage of the residential complex and, following Li Tianbao's directions, arrived at the elevator.

After unloading the cow, Li Tianbao went to the stretcher elevator. This type of residential building has two elevators: one commonly used and another stretcher elevator, also called a renovation elevator, which has a large space.

Li Tianbao led the cow into the elevator, and the dog quickly followed. He pressed the button for the seventh floor. He prayed silently, "Please, please, please don't run into anyone!"

Ding! The elevator reached the seventh floor. After opening the door, Li Tianbao entered the combination lock and brought the cow to his home.

After closing the door, I let out a long sigh of relief.

The fully furnished apartment, over 120 square meters, was completely empty. The front and back balconies were enclosed, but there was no furniture.

The Celestial Hound said, "We'll cultivate here tonight and then resurrect Leopard Head!"

Li Tianbao checked the time; it was almost 5 PM. "Xiaotian, everything is going more smoothly than we expected!"

"Yes, this house is nice." Xiaotianquan ran around the living room for a while and was very satisfied.

Moo~~ The cow mooed.

"Don't shout." Li Tianbao frowned.

Li Tianbao said, "If this cow keeps bellowing, some homeowners will definitely complain!"

The Celestial Hound said, "It'll be fine once the Leopard Head's spirit possesses her body."

Li Tianbao couldn't wait any longer. "Let's start now."

The Celestial Hound sat up straight and became serious: "Alright, let's revive Brother Leopard Head now!"
