Chapter 59 Wakanda and Vibranium: A Win-Win Situation
"Everyone, please don't make a move. Let me explain."
Su Mo swiftly flew to the two opposing sides and raised the World Tree branch given to him by Odin. The golden branch emitted a soft glow. Upon seeing this, the warriors of Asgard exchanged glances, then looked at the familiar divine power emanating from the branch, shrugged, and took a step back.
The leading celestial official gestured for the troops to withdraw, and the energy cannons on the flying boat slowly retracted. The atmosphere on the scene eased, and the tanks on the ground also slightly loosened their gun barrels.
Tony Stark emerged from the crowd with Ultron in his arms. Mark's armor visor was pulled back, his face contorted in shock. Ultron followed behind, the red glow on his face flickering faintly.
"Su Mo, how come you can command them?" Tony looked Su Mo up and down, his gaze lingering on the branch in Su Mo's hand.
"It's a long story," Su Mo waved his hand, "I went to Asgard with Thor..."
He briefly recounted his journey to the Golden Palace to ask Odin for resources, obtaining a branch of the World Tree, being unexpectedly swept into Helheim, and fighting Hela before escaping, skipping the thrilling details and only stating the outcome. Tony listened, nodded thoughtfully, and didn't ask any further questions.
The misunderstanding was cleared up, and Nick Fury, who had been observing the situation from the shadows, finally stepped forward. Dressed in a black tactical uniform, his single eye slightly squinted in the sunlight, he walked steadily to Su Mo and said in a low voice, "Su Mo, I know you want to prioritize resources for the Sky Eye Society. I won't expose you."
He paused, glanced around to make sure no one was approaching, and said, "Give me a copy of the resources too, and I'll help you hide them. It's a win-win situation."
Su Mo thought for a moment and nodded. "Okay, but the Heavenly Sword Bureau must share your research with the Heavenly Eye Society."
Fury agreed without hesitation. After all, S.E.L.D. was government-led, and his power had drastically diminished after the Hydra incident. Using S.E.L.D. resources to gain Su Mo's favor was a worthwhile trade. As long as his secret projects continued, protecting humanity wouldn't be a problem. And Su Mo was going to share some of these resources with others anyway. Both Su Mo and Fury were satisfied, each feeling they had won twice.
Afterwards, Fury returned to the human army and explained the situation to the commanders. The government quickly sent politicians to liaise with the Asgardian officials to discuss other support plans for Earth.
Tony didn't interrupt Su Mo and Fury's conversation, standing by and waiting. Now that Su Mo had a moment to spare, he immediately leaned in and asked, "Can we use Asgardian space travel technology? We've already digested the unknown parts of the faster-than-light technology you gave us; now it's time to manufacture it."
Su Mo shook his head. "I'm afraid that won't work. Asgard's airships are powered by the divine power of the World Tree. Humans don't have divine power, so they can't use them on a large scale, nor can they replenish their energy."
He thought for a moment, then added, "But we can rent Asgardian airships and hire them to take humans to the interstellar market to trade."
After saying that, he patted Tony on the shoulder, letting Tony figure it out himself. Then he turned and left, preparing to return to his Sky Eye Society base.
During the flight, Su Mo's expression was somewhat gloomy. Wakanda had once again failed to appear when Earth faced a crisis. What was the point of this damned isolationism? Wakanda clearly possessed ultra-long-distance space travel technology and a large quantity of the rare metal vibranium, yet it was all completely useless.
In the movie, only the energy shield and cannon were somewhat useful. When facing Thanos's army, they actually used their bare hands to wield vibranium spears. What's the difference between that and suicide? It seems that long periods of isolation have driven the Wakanda crazy. We can't let Wakanda continue to possess vibranium while doing nothing.
Upon returning to the Sky Eye Society, Su Mo immediately ordered his agents to take action. Those of his own agents, who had already successfully infiltrated various African countries, exerted political pressure on Wakanda internationally. Simultaneously, multinational corporations secretly controlled by the Sky Eye Society imposed economic sanctions on Wakanda.
Here's a brief explanation: After Hydra disintegrated, some of its companies were taken over by the Sky Eye Society. Furthermore, Su Mo previously unearthed a large amount of gold in Africa as capital, and also brought advanced technologies from various industries from his own universe's Earth, significantly revitalizing the Sky Eye Society's businesses.
After finishing all this, Su Mo returned to his office and continued reading the spellbook that the Ancient One had given him.
The book contained various spells and the Sorcerer Supreme's personal insights, which Su Mo found very helpful. His experience in Helheim made him realize the importance of being a sorcerer. If it weren't for Pudding's white magic, he might have been defeated by Hela long ago and turned into her star. Time passed by, minute by minute.
One week later.
"Boss, King T'Challa of Wakanda wants to talk to us," Wanda, the deputy director of the Sky Eye Society, reported to Su Mo as she stood in front of his desk.
Su Mo put down the spellbook, a slight smile playing on his lips. Wakanda had finally reached its breaking point. While the pressure and economic sanctions from neighboring countries weren't enough to cause Wakanda's collapse—after all, they were perfectly self-sufficient—Wakanda was still a small country. Meanwhile, previously underdeveloped African tribes were thriving with the support of the Sky Eye, which had acquired Asgard's resources. Seeing his nation's influence waning, T'Challa, the Black Panther, couldn't sit still any longer.
"Let's leave him hanging for a while." Su Mo didn't even look up, continuing to flip through the Ancient One's handwritten spellbook, his tone indifferent. "What? You can't sit still now that you see Asgard's more advanced technology? Are you afraid that your technology, which is decades ahead of Earth's, will be overtaken by others?"
"Okay, Boss," Wanda replied, turning to leave.
the other side.
In the makeshift reception room of the Wakanda Sky Eye, T'Challa, the Black Panther, sat upright in a chair, his face calm. His bodyguard captain, Okoye, stood behind him, his hands clasped in front of him, his face almost overflowing with anger.
"Your Majesty, they have absolutely no respect for us," Okoye said, his voice filled with indignation. "They've made us wait for an hour."
"Alright, Okoye," T'Challa said calmly. "We're the ones asking for your help; we need to be humble. That's enough."
He knew that the Sky Eye Society was trying to intimidate him. If he charged in anger, he would fall into their trap. He closed his eyes and continued to wait.
Time ticked by. The sky outside changed from bright sunshine to twilight, the orange-red sunset streaming in through the windows, casting a long shadow on the drawing room floor and illuminating Black Panther's still calm face. Okoye's fists clenched and unclenched repeatedly, his anger growing stronger. But T'Challa remained unmoved, his breathing steady, his expression unchanged.
Watching this scene from behind a hidden surveillance camera, Su Mo knew there was no need to wait any longer. No matter how long he waited, T'Challa would only speak to him calmly and wouldn't give him any leverage.
Su Mo finally pushed open the door to the reception room and walked in, a slightly apologetic smile on her face. "Sorry, I was reading until quite late. Please forgive me."
Okoye had just taken a step forward when T'Challa raised his hand to stop him. T'Challa stood up, smiled nonchalantly, as if the hours of waiting had never happened.
"Oh, it's alright, I didn't wait long." His voice was gentle and polite. "By the way, what's your name?"
"Su Mo." Su Mo didn't beat around the bush, his tone direct and firm. "T'Challa, King of Wakanda. Our demands aren't high. The Sky Eye just wants a piece of land in Wakanda and the right to mine vibranium."
"Lord Su Mo, I'm afraid this is inappropriate." T'Challa pondered for a moment before speaking. "Wakanda is not a place where I can make decisions alone."
"I don't care." Su Mo decisively interrupted T'Challa's prepared long speech, shaking his head. "If you don't agree, then don't even think about getting Asgard's aid. And don't even think about getting a share of the exploration of the universe or interstellar trade."
He looked directly into T'Challa's eyes. "I can forgive you for closing your country off and having advanced technology but not helping Earth fight off the alien invasion. But that's on the condition that Wakanda joins us."
T'Challa remained silent.
Seeing him deep in thought, Su Mo clapped his hands. Wanda and the negotiation expert from the Sky Eye Society walked in, sat down opposite T'Challa, and began to bargain with him.
Su Mo believed T'Challa would eventually agree. Wakanda was a small country, and after Su Mo received Asgard's aid, Wakanda's technological advantage would diminish, and it wouldn't take long. At that point, Wakanda would truly only have vibranium to offer. Therefore, the sooner Wakanda agreed to join, the more advantageous it would be. Of course, the same applied to the Sky Eye Society.
Currently, FAST (Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Telescope) is publicly identified as an African intertribal cooperation organization. This is a win-win situation. Wakanda wins once, and Sumo wins twice.
