Alien invasion? Luckily, I'm Superman.
Chapter 76 Pushing the Moon
Superpower accelerated rapidly, breaking through the atmosphere and flying towards the bright moon in the night sky. Its red cape fluttered behind it, silently billowing in the vacuum, leaving a dark red trail.
A moment later, Superpower appeared above the moon. He landed on the grayish-white lunar surface, his footsteps creating a shallow crater. Endless silence surrounded him, and in the distance, the blue outline of Earth slowly rotated in the darkness.
Superb took a deep breath, a movement that made his muscles tense even more. He bent over, spread his fingers, and placed them on the rough surface of the moon, his body sinking down as if preparing to lift a barbell.
He began to exert his power, pushing the moon off its original orbit. He wanted to keep the moon always above Washington, D.C., with the White House right there. He wanted to rule the world, and the White House was the most suitable place for him to declare his rule.
Just as Superba unleashed its power, Su Mo quietly left the watchtower and silently flew behind Superba. He hovered above the moon, looking down at the red and blue figure below, and secretly swallowed.
As a Kryptonian completely immune to Kryptonite and even able to grow stronger with it, Superpower's physique is extremely rare. His genes would be incredibly beneficial to Su Mo. If Su Mo could defeat Superpower, extract his genes, and have Pudding adjust his own gene sequence, he could completely eliminate his weakness to Kryptonite.
He hadn't forgotten how he was almost defeated by Batman's kryptonite powder when he first arrived in the DC universe. Kryptonite as a weakness was simply too dangerous. It was only because of the Superpower invasion that things were different; otherwise, any minor villain could conjure up a huge amount of kryptonite out of thin air at any time, ostensibly for the sake of the plot, requiring a small sacrifice of the Kryptonians.
Su Mo watched as Superpower continued to propel the moon below, silently raising his fist, gathering strength, his muscles taut to the limit. Then, he instantly accelerated, swooping down towards Superpower's back. A jab, fast and powerful, struck Superpower squarely in the back of the neck.
"boom--"
With a muffled groan, Superba was smashed into the lunar soil like a nail, sending rubble and dust flying in all directions.
Before he could recover from the impact, Su Mo's flying knee was already upon him. Hearing the whooshing sound, Superba instinctively rolled to the side. Su Mo's knee slammed into the ground, blasting a larger crater into the moon's surface, sending powdery lunar debris flying like water droplets.
Superpower leaped out of the crater, ducked low, and his eyes suddenly glowed red, two thick beams of heat shooting out from their sockets. Su Mo dodged to the side, the heat beams grazing his cheek and shooting into the distance, carving two scorched furrows into the lunar surface. Superpower stopped firing the heat beams and, taking advantage of the moment Su Mo dodged, threw a straight punch at his face.
Su Mo took a half step back, simultaneously extending her right leg and delivering a sweeping kick that slammed into Chao Ba's shin. Caught off guard, Chao Ba leaned forward, and although he quickly regained his balance, he still revealed an opening.
Su Mo stepped forward, grabbed Chao Ba's legs tightly with both arms, leaned back, and executed a powerful slam. Chao Ba's head slammed heavily onto the lunar surface, sending debris flying everywhere.
Chao Ba cried out in pain, struggling violently. With a sudden kick of his legs, he broke free from Su Mo's embrace. He flipped over and leaped back a few steps, creating some distance. His eyes were red and burning, the red light surging in their sockets foreshadowing the next burst of heat rays.
"Sizzle—!"
Two thicker and brighter heat rays shot out from Superba's eyes, heading straight for Su Mo. Seeing that he couldn't dodge in time, Su Mo's eyes also lit up red, and two heat rays shot out from his pupils, meeting Superba's attack head-on.
Two rays of heat met in the air.
The red beams collided and twisted, energy accumulating at the point of intersection, causing the temperature to rise sharply and ionizing nearby trace gases into rings of pale blue light. In the silent lunar sky, only the crackling sound of tearing energy could be heard.
The two remained locked in a stalemate. In the intervals between the clashes of heat rays, they began to move closer. Flying, their hands clasped together, they began to wrestle. Their fingers intertwined tightly, each finger straining, the knuckles cracking. At the same time, the heat rays collided in front of them, the thermal expansion causing their hair and cloaks to flutter even without wind.
"Who are you? Why are you stopping me?" Superba gritted his teeth, slamming a fist into Su Mo's face, his voice ferocious. "Are you Superman of this universe? My damn, weak counterpart? If we hadn't met..."
He suddenly realized something and immediately shut his mouth, as if he had almost revealed a secret he shouldn't have.
"What did you encounter? An anti-monitor?" Su Mo didn't hesitate to reopen Superpower's wounds, revealing the truth directly. He clenched his fists into a hammer and slammed them down on Superpower's head. "No way, you couldn't even defeat a super-weak anti-monitor replicated from the Dark Universe?"
Every word he said was like a knife stabbing into Superba's wounds. "Aren't you just a bunch of stray dogs? Your own world has been destroyed, and you come crying to us like babies?"
"Screw you!" Superba gripped Su Mo's arms tightly, veins bulging. "We're just making a strategic retreat! We'll eliminate him ourselves later. As long as I get more Kryptonite—"
He headbutted Su Mo hard on the forehead, making Su Mo see stars.
Su Mo brought his legs together, bent his knees and tucked in his stomach, then kicked out with a powerful leap, sending Superman flying. He continued talking: "The other side can directly destroy your universe, do you really think mere kryptonite in your universe will be of any use? That's just your excuse."
Chao Ba steadied himself in mid-air, quickly flew behind Su Mo, and wrapped his arms tightly around Su Mo's waist and abdomen before slamming him violently into the lunar surface. He used Su Mo as a human cushion, repeatedly slamming him onto the moon. One, two, three impacts, each one creating a new crater on the lunar surface.
"I told you, I'll go back to him!" Chao Ba's roar exploded in Su Mo's ears. "And besides, our universe hasn't been destroyed yet! He promised us that as long as we keep helping him find new universes, he'll agree to let ours go. You're the first!"
"Then we'll be the last ones," Su Mo said dismissively. "Because you won't have a chance to complete the mission. But don't worry, we'll save your universe too."
Before he could finish speaking, Su Mo mentally called for Pudding. A black symbiote instantly surged from his body, countless black tentacles shooting out in all directions. The tentacles tightly wrapped around Superba's limbs, torso, and neck, tightening frantically while attempting to invade Superba's body.
"What is this?" Superba roared, his muscles bulging as he tried to break free of his restraints. Pudding's tentacles creaked and groaned under his immense force, some already beginning to break off.
"Your grave!" Su Mo said, raising his fist and slamming it hard into Superman's gaping maw. Then he turned and shouted behind him, "Batman! Over here!"
In the darkness of the far side of the moon, Justice League fighters silently approached, their silver fuselages reflecting distant starlight. Batman ejected from one of the fighters, boarding a small Batplane with a massive device mounted on its nose.
Sunlight generator.
Batman pressed a button while in flight. The device's shield opened, and its internal core lit up with a blinding white light, focusing intense sunlight into a beam of light several meters in diameter, which radiated continuously toward the Superpower.
"No!" Superba screamed in terror, struggling frantically. Pudding's tentacles snapped off one by one, but it was too late. Golden sunlight enveloped his entire body; his skin began to smoke, and his muscles began to shrink. His kryptonite-enhanced body withered at a visible rate, and power rapidly drained from his body. He fell into unprecedented weakness, no longer able to struggle.
At the same instant, Su Mo manipulated Pudding's tentacles to pierce into Superba's body and replicate his genetic sequence.
"Alright, Su Mo, leave him alive." Batman's voice came through the fighter jet's communicator, deep and calm.
Su Mo heard everything clearly thanks to his enhanced hearing. He lifted Superman from the ground with a hint of regret. Indeed, killing Superman outright was the least worthwhile approach. He should have studied his genes more thoroughly, and as the strongest member of the Crime Syndicate, Superman must be hiding many secrets even from his teammates. After all, they were the Crime Syndicate, not the Justice League; keeping secrets from each other was the norm. Just like how Super Queen's child wasn't Superman's or the Demon Lord's, but Lex Luthor's.
"Alright, whatever you say, Batman." Su Mo shrugged casually. "Is the Gotham situation resolved?"
"Superman and Wonder Woman are handling it." Batman's voice was as brief and concise as ever. "Alright, let's go too."
