Chapter 85 Planet Eater
"Great planet devourers, we have come to find you delicious planets."
Su Mo stood below the throne, looking up at the thin yet still massive body, and bowed slightly, deliberately emphasizing the word "delicious".
Devouring Star lowered his head slightly, his purple gaze descending from the throne and sweeping over Su Mo's body. His voice was slow and deep, like the rolling of stars: "Oh, I presume you have some purpose? You're from Earth?"
Su Mo did not deny it.
"But that's impossible." Devourer of Stars directly refused, his voice booming so loudly that the air in the hall trembled. A halo of light rippled across the wall behind him. "I came for the mutated Celestials within Earth; Earth was merely a side trip."
Star-Lord was thrown off balance by the sound wave, his body tilting to the side, his arms flailing in the air as if he were about to fall to the ground.
But a split second before he fell, he rolled over, bracing himself with one hand on the ground, executing a Thomas Flair. The hem of his leather jacket swung open in the air, and his boots drew a circle on the ground.
The big dog Comos pressed the play button on Star-Lord's old Walkman with its paw.
Retro rock music blasted from the loudspeakers, bouncing back and forth in the hall. Star-Lord started dancing to the music, his body soaring, every movement perfectly timed, turns, slides, floor work all in one fluid motion.
Su Mo stood to the side, feeling so awkward that her scalp tingled and her toes felt like they were digging a three-bedroom apartment out of her shoes.
He wanted to rush up and drag Star-Lord away, but out of the corner of his eye, he caught sight of Galactus on the throne, and a slight smile appeared on his lips as he watched Star-Lord breakdance in front of him with great interest.
Su Mo had no choice but to endure it, gritting her teeth as she watched Star-Lord finish the entire dance.
"Phew." Star-Lord finished with his last slide, sprang up from the ground, and blew on his hair.
Devouring Star nodded slowly, his voice softening slightly: "Not bad. Earthling, what's your name?"
"I am Peter Quill. The great Galactus, you may call me Star-Lord." Star-Lord dusted himself off, stood up straight, and immediately answered Galactus's question.
"Star-Lord?" Galactus chewed on the name, then nodded. "Not bad."
Star-Lord seized the opportunity and hurriedly said, "Then, could you spare Earth? We can find you a new planet."
He paused, then added, "There are countless other dances and music like this on our planet. We can always provide them for you."
A flicker of hesitation crossed Galactus's purple eyes. But it was fleeting. His voice softened with regret: "While I'd love to do this, the Celestials on Earth possess an immense amount of life energy. I'm afraid I can't give up. Don't worry, I'll use the Ta'a II to record everything about you—your dance, your music, everything."
Su Mo could tell that Devouring Star was genuinely regretful.
Su Mo acted decisively, stepping out from behind Star-Lord: "Great Galactus, you may be mistaken. There are no surviving Celestials on our Earth. If you don't believe me, you can use the Taa II to explore the planet's interior. There's only one corpse there, a completely dried-out corpse."
"Hmm?" Galactus tilted his head forward slightly. "Is it true? But my messenger Norlin (Silver Surfer) told me it is."
A chill ran down Su Mo's spine. Norin—the Silver Surfer, Galactus's messenger. But he clearly remembered that Galactus had no messengers in this world; neither the major empires nor the Nova Corps had any records of them.
In that instant, several thoughts flashed through his mind: Was it Galactus, the daughter of Galactus, who was behind this? No, it wasn't. He remembered another being sealed within Galactus's body—the Divine Rune.
A multiverse-level entity of destruction, an eternal opposite. If the divine rune within Galactus loosened, disrupting his consciousness and conjuring up a "messenger" to lead him in the wrong direction, then everything makes sense.
Perhaps this world began to diverge from the moment the creator of the planet Devourer took the first step, splitting into different universes.
As Earth is the most important entity in the Marvel Universe, if it were erased, it would essentially mean that the meaning of the world's existence would begin to disappear.
Basically, if Earth were to disappear, the entire universe would lose its meaning. This is inevitable for Marvel comics as they are about humanity, though it's not always the case.
"The great Devourer of Stars," Su Mo's tone became cautious, "but you don't have an envoy at all. Could it be that something sealed within you disturbed your consciousness when you were hungry?"
Su Mo immediately reminded Devouring Star that he hadn't thought of it before, but now he remembered that Devouring Star was not the biggest threat; the two gods that might exist within the opponent were the greater threat.
It seems we can't kill Galactus yet. Otherwise, if his daughter or a divine rune escapes, it would be an even greater disaster.
Devourer of Stars stiffened slightly, and his purple eyes suddenly narrowed.
"A divine rune?" His voice deepened. "How do you know of its existence?"
Galactus did not deny it, but slowly nodded. "That's right, he is indeed sealed within me. I devour suitable life-bearing planets precisely to seal him away."
Su Mo cursed inwardly, "What I guessed came true."
He took a deep breath, suppressing those chaotic thoughts, and looked directly into the eyes of the Galactus: "Then, great Galactus, let us find suitable planets for you to devour to replenish your energy. We cannot follow the talisman's wishes."
His target has been locked—the symbiotic homeworld Klinta.
There is countless life there, abundant energy, and the symbiotic god Nar is slumbering at the planet's core. If Galactus devours Klinta, the threat to Pudding will also disappear. A win-win situation.
"Hmm." Galactus leaned back on his throne, his gaunt body seeming to relax slightly upon hearing the word "food." "Alright. My energy isn't quite full right now. After I devour the planet you mentioned, I'll make you my messengers."
The pie in the sky was drawn perfectly, and Su Mo didn't expose it. He simply bowed again, his voice respectful: "As you wish."
Then he straightened up, grabbed Star-Lord by the back of his collar with one hand, picked up the still tongue-laughing dog Comos with the other, and dragged the man and the dog out of the hall.
Su Mo remembered that the symbiotic homeworld, Klinta, was in the Andromeda Galaxy, about 60,000 light-years from Earth, located in a remote part of the universe, and its coordinates couldn't be found on regular star maps. They needed to find that place first, but Uncle Swallow probably wouldn't mind waiting a little longer.
Since Galactus has his eye on the "mutated Celestials" that don't even exist on Earth, why not just give him the symbiotic god Nal, who is sealed away in Krintar?
Both are gods, both are full of life energy, and Nal's level is even higher than that of ordinary Celestials, with even more abundant energy. It's believed that Galactus wouldn't reject this replacement proposal.
