Alien invasion? Luckily, I'm Superman.
Chapter 93 Marvel Editorial Department?
Through the wall, you can see the messy workstations inside, desks piled with draft papers, and various superhero posters on the walls.
Su Mo heard the department head inside saying, "XXX, how did you come up with such a garbage plot? Why did you include DC's Superman? You need to know that this isn't a crossover publication. They'll sue us for copyright infringement. Icarus is one thing, but the real Superman is absolutely unacceptable."
After the supervisor finished his reprimand, the screenwriter said, feeling wronged, "Minister, I don't know what happened. This comic just appeared on its own. Someone must be playing a prank."
"I don't care, you have to handle this as soon as possible. Remember, the main characters are the amazing girl and the monk. Our comic is all about being right!" The supervisor interrupted the screenwriter.
Su Mo instantly appeared in the office below and knocked everyone unconscious in a flash. But after being knocked unconscious, everyone disappeared except for the supervisor.
After hesitating for a moment, Su Mo woke up her supervisor, who knew things were going to go wrong as soon as he saw her.
"Speak, tell me what you know." Su Mo grabbed the supervisor by the neck, pressed him against the wall, and spoke fiercely.
The supervisor's legs were off the ground, his face filled with terror. He recognized Su Mo's face and began to beg for mercy: "Deadpool, have mercy! I'm just a scapegoat!"
Su Mo loosened her grip slightly, her brows furrowing even more: "What do you mean?"
The supervisor glanced at Su Mo cautiously, thinking that this person didn't quite resemble Deadpool; Deadpool didn't have a normal face. But besides Deadpool, who else could scale walls? Perhaps some Deadpool variant with superpowers.
He swallowed hard and explained rapidly, "Our world is just a fake editorial department created by the real screenwriters. We can't handle the real plot at all; we can only create content that the real screenwriters have attached to us according to the settings. We're just messengers."
"Then what's this zombie universe you mentioned?" Su Mo asked.
"That's because this editorial department is instinctively creating garbage universes, mostly scraps that nobody cares about." The supervisor's voice lowered, his eyes darting around. "Scraps mean nobody will read them."
Su Mo put down the supervisor and walked over to the screenwriter who had just collapsed.
Apart from Su Mo and the supervisor, there was no one else in the office; all the editors and illustrators who had fainted had disappeared.
The outside world was also silent, with no pedestrians on the streets. This world had never had any living people; it was just an empty shell set up to "produce comics."
Su Mo picked up the first draft, still stained with ink, from the table. The image on it was frozen at the moment he raised the Infinity Gauntlet; the brushstrokes were rough and the lines were messy, but the character's expression and movements were very clear.
He casually added the following content to the drawing, snapped his fingers infinitely, and time reversed.
But when I drew the panel with the Wasp, I couldn't erase her presence no matter what I did. The shrunken zombie was like a nail, firmly fixed on the paper, and I couldn't wipe it off no matter how hard I tried.
Su Mo frowned and threw the Wasp into the black hole at the center of the universe. Out of sight, out of mind, that way no one could be bitten by her.
The supervisor stood to the side, watching Su Mo's actions, not daring to stop her, but cautiously asked, "Then can I continue working?"
"Why do you still want to work? There's no one here anymore." Su Mo looked at him with a puzzled expression.
"My assigned task is to supervise the creators' work. If I don't, I'll disappear." The supervisor was already quite certain that the person in front of him wasn't Deadpool, but he didn't dare say it out loud. He paused, then added, "I can draw the people who disappear."
As he spoke, he picked up a paintbrush, dipped it in ink, and made a few strokes on the paper. The lines outlined several blurry human figures, and the screenwriters and illustrators who had disappeared reappeared in front of the desk, as if nothing had happened.
Su Mo was somewhat surprised. This ability was too powerful. It could create people out of thin air. Although they were not real people, they were real within the rules of "this world".
He looked at his supervisor with burning eyes.
The supervisor frankly stated, "We can only create weak worlds. The zombie world you just encountered was content that the actual editors abandoned; otherwise, we wouldn't have been able to control it. Moreover, we can only follow the plot's development; if we deviate from the intended storyline, the modifications will be rendered useless."
"What if we change it just a little bit?"
Su Mo's gaze fell on the stack of dusty comics in the corner. He walked over, opened it, and found a scene depicting his first time traveling to the Marvel Universe: he walked out of the portal and stood on the streets of New York. The second page, the third page... all the way to the chapter about fighting Dormammu.
Su Mo picked up a pen, crossed out Dormammu's narration, and rewrote the explanation next to it. He rewrote Dormammu's origin story, showing that Dormammu, who had devoured the Dark Dimension, paled in comparison to Su Mo in the battle, ultimately tearing apart his own Dark Dimension core and surrendering everything.
The moment Su Mo finished changing the last square, his whole body trembled.
A brand new memory suddenly flooded into his mind: the Dark Dimension, an endless ocean of dark purple energy, where he stood at the very center of the dimension and became its master.
Su Mo raised her head.
The figures of the supervisor and the screenwriters had become transparent, like pencil lines erased by an eraser. Their outlines swayed in the air a few times before silently disappearing.
The office walls began to peel, the ceiling collapsed like a melting candle, and the outside world crumbled into nothingness in the gray light.
Su Mo didn't care. He had long seen that there was no life in this world. Those "people" were just the embodiment of the rules. Once they died, they died. Besides, the supervisor was lying. Their power was much greater than he said. It was better that they were destroyed now.
The world collapsed completely before his eyes, and everything returned to chaos.
Su Mo closed her eyes.
When Su Mo opened his eyes again, he was greeted by an endless ocean of dark purple energy. The black dimensional space resembled a boundless night sky, with purple light flowing slowly through the void like sleeping dragons.
He stood at the very center of the dimension, with dark energy solidified beneath his feet and countless dead stars reshaped after being devoured above him. He looked down at his hands.
This body is not Superman's body, but a new shell given to him by the Dark Dimension, with his will as the skeleton and the energy of the dimension as the flesh and blood.
He could sense that another body was still alive "over there," that Su Mo who was a superman, still in the chaos of the editorial department's world being destroyed.
But even if that body is destroyed afterward, it won't kill him.
Su Mo opened his arms and took a deep breath. The energy of the Dark Dimension cheered within him, like a long-lost friend.
