HP: Wizards at Hogwarts
Chapter 27: Is Dumbledore up to something again?
Elaine overheard the entire conversation between the three.
What are these three guys talking about?
Tian Ji's horse racing strategy?
Just then, a series of hurried footsteps came from behind.
The group turned around and saw a figure appear at the entrance of the boathouse.
The newcomer was a man who looked to be in his thirties. He had greasy, shoulder-length hair that looked like he hadn't washed it in decades. His complexion was sallow, and he looked malnourished. He had a large, hooked nose that was very prominent on his face.
He was thin and dressed in a rather traditional black robe. He appeared silently, like a large bat that suddenly appeared in the night.
Almost instantly, Elaine identified the newcomer.
Severus Snape!
"Can anyone tell me what happened?"
Snape's face was grim as he slowly opened his mouth, his voice thick and sticky like a muddy swamp.
"Professor McGonagall noticed that the entire Black Lake is frozen over?"
Clearly, Professor McGonagall discovered the anomaly at the Black Lake when she came out of the Great Hall to wait for the young wizards, and then sent Snape to check on the situation.
As for Snape...
He should have already been sitting in the cafeteria waiting for lunch, but he was suddenly ordered to work overtime. He must be feeling extremely bad right now.
"Yes, Professor."
Malfoy immediately stood up from the ground, his face full of respect.
His father, Lucius Malfoy, had previously worked alongside Snape under Voldemort, and the two had a fairly good relationship.
Therefore, Lucius had already visited Snape with Malfoy, hoping that he would take good care of his son at Hogwarts.
Therefore, Malfoy was the only person present who knew Snape's identity and status, and who could also speak to him.
"When our ship reached the center of the Black Lake, the water suddenly froze, and then that half-giant made us run over, saying it was the Hogwarts trial..."
As Malfoy spoke, his voice grew softer and softer.
He vaguely sensed that something was amiss.
If this were truly a Hogwarts trial, then there should be a professor here announcing the results.
But judging from Professor Snape's expression, he seemed completely unaware of what had happened.
Is this reasonable?
This is completely unreasonable!
Sure enough, Snape was stunned when he heard Malfoy's answer.
"Hogwarts has not prepared any trials!"
What trial?
I've never heard of that!
What nonsense is Hagrid, this monstrous distant relative, spouting to the new students?!
After raging internally, Snape gradually calmed down and began to think carefully about what was wrong with the whole thing.
No, Hagrid may be simple-minded, but he shouldn't lie!
Could it be that Dumbledore is secretly plotting something behind my back?
Is it for Harry Potter?
Does that old geezer want to test Harry Potter's talent, ability, temperament, or something else before he enrolls?
"What?!"
"You're saying there are no trials?!"
"Isn't this the sorting test?!"
"Professor Snape, what... what's going on?"
Malfoy and his two companions exclaimed in surprise.
What happened?
I'd also like to ask what happened!
"I will personally confirm this with Professor Dumbledore and Hagrid."
"As for you..."
Snape hesitated for a moment, then looked up at the main force that was about to arrive on the ice. "You all stay here and wait until you meet up with the others. Then follow Hagrid's orders."
Malfoy instinctively asked, "Huh? I'm going to have to take orders from that half-giant again?! And what about you?"
Snape didn't answer, and turned to leave.
He only glanced at Elaine once to make sure the young wizard wasn't injured, and then paid no further attention.
"Hehe~ He really is a cold person!"
If it were any other professor, they would at least have cared about the physical condition of the freshmen present, but Snape showed no concern whatsoever.
This is utterly devoid of professional ethics!
Elaine felt that this kind of person should be taught a lesson so that he would remember it!
Before long, Hagrid finally led the young wizards to the houseboat.
All the young wizards were in a sorry state, many of them huddled together, sneezing incessantly, clearly having been badly bruised by the cold wind on the ice.
Malfoy glanced through the crowd, his gaze quickly locking onto Harry, and walked over smugly.
"Yo yo yo~ Look who's here!"
"The famous savior, Mr. Harry Potter."
"Judging from your disheveled appearance, I can tell you suffered a serious fall on the way."
"What a useless guy!"
Harry's condition is indeed not good.
He fell three times on his way here.
The first time, I lost my balance and fell.
The second time was when Ron fell, I instinctively grabbed his clothes and was dragged down with him;
The third time was to help Neville, who had fallen, but after helping him up, he himself was unable to stand up.
Harry fell three times in a row, leaving him in a sorry state.
His forehead was red, clearly from a fall on the ice.
Not only that, his glasses also broke.
A small part of the left lens was missing, about the size of a fingernail, and the remaining part had two noticeable cracks.
Malfoy and his two henchmen mocked Harry's current appearance without restraint.
"Enough, Malfoy!"
"Harry got hurt trying to help someone, you shouldn't laugh at him!"
Hermione stepped forward to block Harry's path and spoke indignantly.
"Do you think you've won?"
"Hagrid already told everyone that there is no trial at all!"
"I think you've been hoping for nothing!"
More than 30 minutes have passed since the Black Lake froze.
If this trial truly exists, according to the rules, all of them, the newly arrived junior wizards, would be considered failures.
Hermione thought that Malfoy was gloating because he had passed the trial.
"I already knew that!"
Malfoy scoffed at Hermione, "Do you think I'm one of you idiots, really foolish enough to believe in some kind of trial?"
"Foolish girl, if I were you, I would be thinking about how to explain what just happened to the school board on behalf of that equally foolish half-giant."
Crabbe and Goyle: "..."
Sometimes, they really admired Malfoy.
Just three minutes ago, he was absolutely convinced of the 'trial,' but now he can say these words without batting an eye.
No wonder they can be the boss; they're just his lackeys!
Hermione glared angrily at Malfoy, but couldn't utter a single word.
Malfoy's words struck a chord with her.
That's right.
Of all the people here right now, Hagrid is the one in the most trouble!
