I'm the King of Curry at Hogwarts
Chapter 187 Marauder's Map
Chapter 187 Marauder's Map
As a seasoned scapegoat, Sirius Black must be used to it by now. He was even willing to take the blame for harming the Potters, so scratching up Mrs. Poor's house must be no big deal for him.
Dumbledore gave Peeves a meaningful look until he left with a wry smile.
Professor Dumbledore called all the Gryffindor students back to the Great Hall. Ten minutes later, students from Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin, and other houses also arrived, all looking completely bewildered.
"The professors and I will conduct a thorough search of the castle," Professor Dumbledore told the students.
At this point, Professor McGonagall and Flitwick closed all the doors of the Great Hall. "For your own safety, I think you may have to spend the night here. I require the prefects to stand guard at the entrance of the Great Hall, and the male and female student council presidents to stay inside and manage the hall. Report to me immediately if anything happens."
Dumbledore added this to Percy, who replied with the pride of an important person, "Just send me a ghost."
Louis, of course, declined Dumbledore's request. He knew Sirius wouldn't be coming tonight, so he sent the hardworking Christa to patrol with the professors.
See, it's not too much to ask someone from my family to go with you and pretend to be someone else, is it?
Dumbledore truly lived up to his reputation as a great wizard. With a wave of his hand, the tables and chairs vanished instantly, and then hundreds and thousands of purple sleeping bags suddenly appeared out of thin air, as if they had materialized out of nowhere.
It's not just a "seem," it's absolutely true.
"Everyone get into your sleeping bags, and no one is allowed to talk! Lights out in ten minutes!" the newly elected student council president, Percy, shouted.
It should be said that this was the first time all the students at Hogwarts had such a novel experience. Just imagine, all the students were crowded in the Great Hall, what a lively and reassuring scene it was!
Even if you've watched a horror movie, you won't be scared when you're sleeping, right?
But these days there aren't many truly terrifying horror movies. The real horror comes later, after someone of Crabbe's size falls asleep...
It all depends on whether the classmates around can provide a silencing spell.
Louis was the first to realize this problem. Back when he was in college, his bunkmate was a guy with long chest hair. This guy not only had thick body hair, but also snored very loudly, like a resonant chord.
Every night when Louis went to sleep, he felt like someone had placed a subwoofer under him, and even with earplugs, he couldn't escape the torment of the sonic attack.
It's so painful, family.
The students were very excited, as it was their first time experiencing something like this. Everyone was whispering among themselves, especially the Gryffindor students, who wrapped themselves up like silkworms, with only their heads peeking out, and chattered to their friends around them, completely unafraid of Percy's intimidation from the side.
After all, the teachers had left, and Percy, as the student council president, didn't have much of a deterrent effect.
"Hey, do you think Black is still in the castle?" Hermione asked anxiously in a low voice.
"Clearly, that's what Dumbledore thinks," Ron said in a low voice. "Didn't you see Professor Dumbledore taking all the professors out on patrol?"
Louis, who had been pacing, squatted down and interrupted Ron's conversation when he heard him: "Ron, do you know what it means when Dumbledore sends professors on patrol?"
Upon hearing Louis's voice, the three little ones immediately arched their backs in a funny little maggot-like shape and looked up at Louis.
Ron hesitated for a moment, then asked uncertainly, "To protect the students?"
"It's to make people believe that the students are protected!" Louis looked intently at Ron.
"Huh? Sirius Black?" Hermione asked in a low voice.
Louis, however, refuted her point without hesitation: "It's not Blake, it's making the students think they're protected! Sirius knows that's not true at all!"
The three children were hearing this theory for the first time, and they looked at each other in disbelief before staring at Louis.
But then Louis continued, "The principal's aim is to make our innocent, naive students feel safe, so they can move carefree between the tower, the auditorium, and the classrooms."
"But..." Hermione hesitated, struggling for a long time before finally figuring out how to ask the next question.
Louis patted her fluffy head and left the hall with a smile.
"Lights out now! I want everyone to get into their sleeping bags immediately and stop talking!" Percy's voice rang out at just the right moment, making it hard not to think that he was ordering the lights out precisely when Louis left.
In fact it is.
All the candles went out, and now the only light came from the silver ghosts floating in the air. They wandered around and spoke solemnly with the prefects. The enchanted ceiling was like the night sky outside, but much deeper. In addition to the starry sky, countless galaxies could be seen rotating regularly, quiet and magnificent.
The students might have been a bit neurotic, but no one thought Black was after them. Everyone was convinced that Black was only targeting the ringleaders, and they were even having a heated discussion about how Black had managed to infiltrate Hogwarts. Hannah Hufflepuff said that Black could transform into a flowering bush, and she spent a lot of time in Potions class telling everyone who was willing to listen to her.
Professor Snape did not stop her, but instead stood there demurely, holding his book and pulling her ear. Right after the class, the students were surprised to find that all the flowering bushes around the castle seemed to have withered overnight.
Harry has been behaving very closely with Lupin lately, going to his office all the time, seemingly learning some new spells.
The following week, when he wanted to go to Hogsmeade, he was once again ruthlessly rejected by Professor McGonagall. Just as he was feeling dejected, the Weasley twins suddenly appeared, each putting their arms around Harry's left and right, and pulling him aside.
"Let me go! Let me go!" Harry was in a very bad mood, and his tone was also not good.
But the twins didn't mind, and with warm smiles on their faces, they said in unison, "Come on, Harry, come and play with the big brothers."
Only after dragging him into a corner did Fred look around mysteriously, then pull out a large, square, tattered piece of parchment from inside his cloak.
"Your older brothers saw you were in a bad mood, so they're giving you an early Christmas celebration. This is your Christmas present this year," George said with a smile.
"What is this piece of junk?" Harry asked, frowning.
"He calls this junk," George said to Fred, gesturing with his chin.
"We seem to be underestimated," Fred added.
Under Harry's puzzled gaze, George explained, "Well, back in our first year, when we were young, carefree, and naive—"
Harry snorted, highly skeptical of George's accuracy. The two of them seemed to have never been innocent. He remembered Ron saying that he was so afraid of spiders because when he was little, the twins had thrown a bag spider onto his bed.
It's understandable that Ron is so afraid of spiders, given his childhood trauma; his two older brothers are definitely not human.
"Okay, okay, at least it's better than this," Fred said with a grin, noticing the disbelief in Harry's eyes. "We had a little tiff with Filch, and we put a dung bomb in the middle of the hallway, and hey, guess what?"
George immediately said, "For some reason, the dung bomb exploded right under his ass, hehe, so he dragged us into the office, starting with the usual—"
"—Solitary confinement, you know, Filch is wicked, he always likes to pull people out their intestines and roast them on charcoal. When he was taking things out of his drawer, we couldn't help but see his filing cabinet drawer—"
"It says on it: Confiscated supplies, extremely dangerous."
Hearing this, Harry was amused by the two men's vivid and engaging banter, and he asked with a chuckle, "And then what did you do?"
Fred said, "Oh, George threw a dung bomb to distract him, and then I quickly pulled open the drawer, grabbed this thing, and it's been ours ever since."
"This little thing has taught us more than all the teachers in the school combined," George said with a chuckle.
"You're just lying, trying to make me happy, right?" Harry looked at him with disbelief, but he was actually 70% convinced. After all, the Weasley twins were indeed naturally gifted at playing pranks. Could this little guy have taught them?
Goodness, ever since he met Lewis, Harry's slyness has increased exponentially.
"We lied to you? Hah..." George seemed to have heard the funniest joke, and he pointed his wand at the parchment: "I solemnly swear I did nothing wrong!"
A magical thing happened: fine lines of ink, like a spider web, immediately appeared from where the wand had just touched the parchment. These lines intersected and crossed each other, extending to every corner of the parchment, and then words began to appear on the top of the parchment, clearly in bold font.
"Gentlemen Moonface, Wormtail, Bigfoot, and Forkhead proudly present the Marauder's Map."
This map meticulously depicts every detail of Hogwarts Castle. What's truly remarkable are the tiny ink dots that move along the map, each labeled with a name in tiny letters.
Harry was greatly surprised. He bent down to take a closer look and saw a small ink dot in the upper left corner indicating that Dumbledore was pacing in his study. The ink dot marked Professor McGonagall was moving rapidly on the fifth floor. In an office on the third floor, the ink dots marked Louise and Catherine had overlapped.
"Huh? How come Louis and Louis's ink dots overlap?" Harry asked, pointing at Louis with a silly look on his face.
Fred and George exchanged a glance and burst into laughter.
After laughing for a while, Fred patted Harry on the shoulder and said with a grin, "You kids shouldn't ask about adult matters."
"Exactly, knowing too much won't do you any good," George chuckled. "Watch out, or Louis might give you a hard time."
To change the subject, Fred pointed to several passages on the map and said, "See these? These passages lead to Hogsmeade Village. Well, there are seven in total, and Filch knows four of them, so I don't recommend you take them."
"This one, I hope you can take this one. It leads all the way to Honeyduke's cellar in Hogsmeade," George said with a grin. "We've taken this many times and never had a mishap. Nobody else knows about this secret passage but us—"
"Moon face, worm tail, big feet, fork..." George sighed. "Alas, what noble sentiments! We owe them so much."
"Noble people, those who help the new generation destroy... trample... no, discover loopholes in the law, may they live forever." Fred changed his words several times before he felt it was less awkward, then he said lightly, "Oh, and remember to wipe it off when you're done, point your wand at him, and say something like this—Prank over!"
To Harry's astonishment, the map quickly disappeared from the parchment, leaving it once again as an ordinary, worn-out piece of parchment.
"Make good use of him, my little Harry," George said with a sacred expression, as if he were passing on some great spirit.
Indeed, the indomitable spirit of the Mischievous Rice Cracker is about to be passed on to Harry, which does have a somewhat sacred meaning.
With the map in hand, Harry didn't rush to Hogsmeade Village. Instead, he planned to walk around the castle to see if Sirius Black was there.
This kid didn't take Mr. Weasley's words to heart at all. Or maybe he did, but he interpreted them in reverse, just wanting to contradict him.
In short, he held the map in one hand and walked towards Louis's office on the third floor.
"Louis, Louis!" Harry knocked on the door, calling out Louis's name.
A moment later, the office door opened, and there was Catherine.
"Ah... Catherine, where's Louise?" Harry asked, peering into the room.
"He's eating." Catherine slowly walked back, and Harry quickly followed her in, where he saw Louis eating noodles.
The pasta was very authentic, and it made Harry hungry.
"Would you like some?" Louis gestured to the plate in front of him.
Harry slammed the Marauder's Map on the table and said casually, "I'm hungry too...any pizza?"
Aslo, always ready to help, responded quickly, almost instantly bringing Harry a fragrant, hot pizza.
"What is this?" Louis asked knowingly, looking with interest at the tattered parchment on the table in front of him.
Harry picked up a slice of pizza, touched his glasses with his wrist, and explained with a smile, "You mean this? Fred and George just gave it to me. It's something like the Marauder's Map. I'll tell you about it when we finish eating..."
