I'm the King of Curry at Hogwarts
Chapter 259 Catherine's Disappointment
Louis is a little bastard, and he knows it himself.
He never learns from his mistakes, always smiling and joking, but he always does it again, which infuriates Catherine. He just won't change.
After dinner, Louis had nothing to do, so he went with the trio to see Hagrid.
His fritters were indeed growing very well, and they burned his hands without mercy.
Speaking of which, this thing is quite big now, about the size of a calf.
Perhaps only Hagrid could raise this thing to grow so wildly.
It's a shame he doesn't raise pigs; raising cattle would be fine too—but then again, Hagrid isn't short of Galleons. Given his talent for raising magical creatures, Snape would have to ask him for help whenever he needed something.
He's the only one who can wholesale octopus venom; there's no other like him.
Outside Hagrid's hut, they also saw Mrs. Maxime. The way Hagrid looked at Mrs. Maxime was like how Harry looked at Cho Chang and Ron looked at Fleur, as if some kind of magnet was drawing them together. His black beetle-like eyes were full of admiration.
Spring has arrived, and Hagrid's cottage is filled with the scent of hormones...
Ahem, I've gone off on a tangent.
Louise's good sister also planned to participate in the Triwizard Tournament, but the strict age limit made her hesitate.
Elizabeth clenched her fist indignantly, declaring that she would definitely participate in the competition when she was in seventh grade!
Yes, five years from now she will be in seventh grade, and she will still be able to participate in the next Triwizard Tournament—if it is still held as scheduled.
Louis spent the whole day playing cards with Hagrid, Ron, and the other two in the cabin, the kind where they stick notes on each other. By the time they came out of Hagrid's cabin, it was already dark.
"I've made a mistake," Louis muttered to himself, tightening his robe. The autumn wind was still quite chilly, and it felt a bit bone-chilling against his skin.
"Are you cold?" Catherine said, snapping her fingers lightly. A small, pale blue flame rose from her fingertip, instantly dispelling the chill from Louis's body.
One of the applications of Fiery Blaze was a new function developed under Louis's guidance—heating.
As the name suggests, it can dispel the surrounding cold.
Louis was puzzled as to why Catherine could snap her fingers while wearing gloves. He had tried many times with Catherine's gloves on, but the gloves were too slippery to create any friction, let alone make a sound.
It was dinnertime, and after dinner, the selection of the warriors would be announced. The group went to the candlelit auditorium and took their seats. The hall was bustling with people, who were there to eat or watch the excitement.
The Goblet of Fire had been moved; it was now on the faculty desk, on Dumbledore's desk. Fred and George had returned to their original positions, and judging by their cheerful expressions, they had clearly accepted their defeat.
Geminis are generally easygoing; if they can go, they'll go; if they can't, they'll just let it go.
"Oh, I wish it were Angelina," Fred said casually, then felt a chill down his spine. He turned around and saw Catherine sitting next to Louis, raising her eyebrows as she ordered from a card.
"Me too!" Hermione was practically holding her breath. "Oh, no rush, we'll find out soon enough."
"You can too, Miss Worley." Fred changed his tune quickly; admitting defeat quickly is one of the few virtues of Geminis.
Catherine waved her hand noncommittally and didn't say anything.
After Fred mentioned it, Hermione noticed Catherine and awkwardly tried to explain, "Um, Catherine, I also hope you'll be chosen."
"I would be very happy if you could say the same thing behind my back, Miss Beaver." Catherine tapped the card lightly on the table twice, and the card disappeared with a whoosh.
Hermione immediately shut up and turned to order food for herself, trying to make herself invisible so that Catherine would forget about her.
The phrase "Miss Beaver" brought back a long-forgotten memory of the fear she felt when she was dominated by Catherine's upside-down bell.
Since Louise established herself as a professor, Catherine has lost her previous aloofness and unapproachability towards her students. Hermione has also forgotten in the past two years just how terrible Catherine was at the beginning.
What's that saying? It's all thanks to the harmonious society that you were saved... If it weren't for Louis, Miss Beaver's grave would probably be covered in grass by now.
The entire dinner seemed endlessly long, with everyone appearing indifferent to the dishes before them, even though the feast was more lavish than usual. The people in the Great Hall constantly craned their necks, their faces filled with anxiety. They were restless, frequently rising to look in Dumbledore's direction to see if he had finished eating, so he could announce the Triwizard Tournament winners.
Finally, amidst everyone's anticipation, the banquet came to an end. After finishing their meals, the students, having nothing left to attract their attention, resumed their noisy buzzing, even louder than before.
Dumbledore stood up, and as if by prior arrangement, the students who noticed his movement stopped whispering in unison, and the entire Great Hall fell silent in an instant.
Karkaroff and Mrs. Maxime, flanking Dumbledore, looked just as nervous and expectant as everyone else. Ludo Bagman smiled broadly, winking at the students from various schools, while Mr. Lovegood remained calm, his eyes fixed on his daughter Akko with doting affection, looking every bit the doting father.
"Alright, I know you've all been waiting impatiently. Now that twenty-four hours have passed, our Goblet of Fire is about to make its decision," Dumbledore said. "I estimate it will take another minute—listen, after the names of the champions are announced, I want them to go to the top of the Great Hall, then down the faculty desk, and into the room next door."
He pointed to the door behind the faculty desk, "They will receive some initial guidance there."
Having said that, Headmaster Dumbledore pulled out his wand and waved it dramatically. With his movement, all the candles except those in the jack-o'-lantern went out, plunging the Great Hall into a state of semi-darkness. The Goblet of Fire now emitted a dazzling and brilliant light, brighter than anything else in the entire Great Hall, its blue-white flames dancing, as captivating as Akiyama Mio's... well, you know.
Everyone watched intently, waiting, and a few impatient people kept checking their watches.
"Soon," Lee Jordan whispered. He was not far from Louis, and Louis could clearly hear his muttering.
The flame in the goblet suddenly turned red again, crackling and scattering sparks everywhere. Then, a tongue of fire shot high into the air, from which flew a piece of charred parchment—everyone in the hall held their breath.
Dumbledore caught the parchment and held it far away so that he could read the words on it by the light of the flame, while the flame returned to its blue-white color.
"The warrior of Durmstrang," he said in a firm and resounding tone, "is Viktor Krum!"
"Not at all!" Ron shouted, showing no restraint as a devoted Viktor fan.
Immediately afterwards, applause and cheers swept through the entire Great Hall. After all, Viktor was a big star in the Quidditch arena, and his reputation among the Hogwarts students was very high.
Viktor stood up, his prisoner's hairstyle doing nothing to conceal his popularity. He strode toward Dumbledore, and upon reaching him, shook hands with the three headmasters in turn. Karkaroff, clearly valuing this student highly, spoke excitedly for a long time before finally allowing Viktor to follow the faculty desk through the door Dumbledore had indicated to enter the next room.
"Fantastic! Viktor!" Karkaroff shouted in a booming voice, as if afraid the entire auditorium wouldn't hear him. "I knew you were destined to be a warrior, keep it up!"
The applause and cheers continued until the flames of the Goblet of Fire turned red again.
Suddenly, the flames flickered and spat out a piece of charred parchment.
"The champion of Beauxbatons—" Dumbledore drawled, "is Fleur Delacour!"
Fleur rose gracefully from beside Catherine, tossing her silvery hair, and walked lightly and nimbly between the Slytherin and Gryffindor tables.
"Look, they're all so disappointed," Hermione said with a complicated tone amidst the commotion. Actually, she misused the word "disappointed." Two of the girls who weren't chosen were already in tears, and one of them even fainted from crying.
"How pitiful," Harry muttered, unable to bear seeing pretty young ladies cry.
Louis could feel that his hand was a little sore; it was Catherine gripping him. Judging from the strength of her grip, he could tell that Catherine was not entirely at peace.
After Fleur entered the next room, the Great Hall fell silent again. This time, the excitement surging within the silence was palpable even to a fool—the first two were champions from Durmstrang and Beauxbatons, so it was obvious that the third would be a champion from Hogwarts.
At this moment, the Goblet of Fire turned red again, and the flames almost licked the ceiling. Dumbledore nimbly removed the fluttering parchment from his forehead.
"The champions of Hogwarts—" Dumbledore shouted, and Louis's hand hurt even more.
He turned his head to look, and saw Catherine staring intently at Dumbledore, her eyes full of anticipation and longing.
Dumbledore paused for a moment, then shouted, "Cedric Diggory!"
"Oh no!" Ron shouted, instinctively looking behind him.
Catherine remained staring blankly at Dumbledore, without making the slightest movement; even the grip on Louis's hand had loosened. After a moment, she turned her head, looking calmly at the table, but Louis could clearly sense the sadness and sorrow in his girlfriend's expression.
He didn't say anything, but reached out and gently stroked Catherine's back.
But apart from the Slytherins, all the students in the Great Hall were jumping up and down, screaming, cheering, and stomping their feet. Louis sighed, waved to the Slytherins, and only then did everyone begin to cheer for Cedric.
We must maintain a proper balance; Hogwarts cannot afford internal strife, and harmony should be the priority.
Cedric stood up, the sunny young man walking forward with a broad smile. He shook hands with the three principals and then headed towards the room behind the faculty desk.
Since it was Hogwarts' home ground, the cheers for Cedric didn't gradually subside until much later.
"Little Moon..." Louis called out Catherine's nickname softly, gently stroking her head.
Catherine chuckled softly, feigning nonchalance, and said, "What, do you think I'm disappointed?"
"Ah, no, that's not it." Louis stroked her smooth hair and said softly, "I'm in a bad mood right now. Don't you think we should smash the Goblet of Fire?"
Catherine paused for a moment, then smiled brightly, reached out and hugged Louis's arm, whispering in his ear, "Let's leave this cup alone; after all, it's several hundred years old."
"It should be replaced precisely because it's hundreds of years old!" Louis said viciously. "I think it's getting old and blind, unable to recognize people. It didn't even choose my little moon, but chose some pretty boy Diggory..."
"Alright, they're all Hogwarts classmates, what difference does it make who we choose?" Catherine rubbed her cheek against Louis's face and said with a smile, "It's just a competition, don't take it so seriously..."
That's what he said, but Louis could still hear the deep resentment in his words.
Indeed, it's quite difficult for Catherine, who has always been arrogant, to accept such a blow. It's already unexpected that she can be so open-minded.
Louis looked up at Dumbledore and found that Dumbledore was also looking at him. The moment their eyes met, Louis noticed that Dumbledore quickly winked at him.
Then Dumbledore stood up and gestured for everyone to quiet down.
"Excellent!" Dumbledore exclaimed cheerfully. "Well then, our three champions have been chosen. I know I can completely trust all of you, including Beauxbatons and Durmstrang's classmates. You will all give your full support to your champions, and by cheering them on, you will make a great contribution to this event. I think a successful Triwizard Tournament cannot be achieved without your support!"
At this point, Dumbledore suddenly stopped talking, and everyone could see what had captured his attention.
The flame in the goblet turned red again!
Flames crackled and sputtered, and a long tongue of fire suddenly shot into the air, carrying a piece of parchment on top of it.
Dumbledore instinctively reached out and grabbed the parchment. He stared at the paper in his hand with a serious expression, remaining silent for a long time. The students in the Great Hall were intimidated by his serious demeanor, and none of them dared to breathe loudly, all staring intently at Dumbledore.
Then, Dumbledore cleared his throat and read aloud the name on the note.
