Chapter 37 Halloween

During Charms class, Louis watched as Seamus Finnigan detonated a feather with a Levitation Charm. Curious, he investigated Finnigan's talents and discovered that the guy's talent in Explosives was off the charts, at 15. ▲Search on 𝐺𝑜𝑜𝑔𝑙𝑒 for 𝑠𝑡𝑜520.𝑐𝑜𝑚▲

But Harry looked very unhappy; half of his face was blackened by Seamus's explosion.

Ron was in the same boat. He had been mocked by Hermione several times in class, and now he was walking to the Great Hall looking depressed.

"You know what? It's 'leviosa,' not levio'sar!" Ron mimicked Hermione's expressions and gestures vividly as he walked down the street. "No wonder she doesn't have many friends. Really, with her temperament, it would be strange if she had any friends at all!"

As he spoke, he felt a bump on his shoulder. Hermione ran past him, and he could faintly hear her sobbing.

Ron shrugged. He regretted saying those words, especially since Hermione had overheard him on the way.

"I think he seems to have heard what you said," Harry whispered to him.

But people are all concerned about their image, and even if they're wrong, they won't admit it. Ron felt uneasy, but he forced himself to walk towards the auditorium.

Once inside the Great Hall, they quickly forgot about Hermione. For young wizards, places with such a festive atmosphere were rare, especially with so many people gathered together, creating a lively and bustling scene. The ceiling, as if enchanted, appeared as deep as the night sky, with rumbling thunder flashing within, giving it a rather mysterious feel.

Halloween-themed pumpkin lanterns floated in the air, with bats flitting among them, creating a truly eerie Halloween atmosphere.

Louis looked around but couldn't find Catherine. He had no choice but to take Draco to a corner to sit down.

Behind her were Gryffindor students, who appeared to be Hermione's roommates.

"You know what? Hermione, that weird girl, is still crying in the bathroom. I've tried to comfort her several times, but I've been kicked out each time," said a female classmate who looked like a yam.

She must be one of the Indian sisters.

Della observed Louis's demeanor, slowly folding her napkin diagonally and placing it on her lap, then whispered to Louis, "That...Miss Beaver seems to be in a bad mental state."

Louis wouldn't like being called a Muggle, and he was also a little reluctant to be called by his name, so after thinking about it, he decided to call her by her nickname.

"When did you start caring about Granger?" Louis casually said, folding his napkin. "Let's eat. Tonight's dinner looks quite lavish."

It was indeed a feast, so abundant that everyone forgot about Hermione.

Louis turned his head to look and saw Ron had once again transformed into a dual-wielding berserker, munching on a roast beef Yorkshire pudding in each hand. Louis was also tempted by Ron's eating habits, so he clapped his hands, took Jerry out of his pocket and put it on the table, then had Tom sit down next to him, gave him a knife and fork, and told Tom to take care of Jerry.

Tom was loyal enough not to do anything bad to Jerry. Perhaps the Halloween party was too lavish, so he simply couldn't be bothered to play pranks on Jerry, and neither could Jerry.

What's a prank compared to a good meal?

Just as they were enjoying their meal, the door burst open, and Professor Quirrell stumbled in, crying out, "The troll—the troll is in the basement—!"

"I thought you should know." With that, he rolled his eyes and fainted.

There was a moment of silence in the restaurant, then chaos erupted. Draco, too, stood up and screamed. Louis reached out and pulled him back onto his chair.

"Look at you, you've completely lost your manners," Louis scolded, frowning. "What's the panic? The professors are all here; what can a troll do?"

Draco finally calmed down. He was panting heavily and looked around with lingering fear. The entire auditorium was a complete mess, like a chaotic marketplace.

Dumbledore had to make his wand explode with several ear-piercing firework sounds before everyone quieted down.

"Prefect," he said in a deep voice, "take all the students in your college to their dormitories immediately."

Upon hearing this, the prefects of each house expertly prepared to lead their students back. Harry and Ron squeezed their heads together and whispered, "Louis, Louis."

"What's wrong?" Louis continued to eat his fries slowly and deliberately, completely out of place in the chaotic and noisy hall; elegance never goes out of style.

"Hermione—Hermione is still in the basement—" they both said in a panic.

"I understand, but you should report this to the professor instead." Louis wiped his mouth and pointed out a clear path for the two of them.

"But...but the professor will deduct points from our score," Harry said worriedly.

Louis couldn't help but chuckle, covering his mouth with a napkin and saying softly, "You Gryffindors... do you even care about losing points?"

"That's true." Harry realized, but he still said anxiously, "It's probably too late to find the teacher. Ron and I will go down and check first..."

……

Louis didn't go to the basement with Harry and Ron. Anyway, according to the original story, the two kids wouldn't have any problem dealing with a troll, so he took Tom and Jerry back to the common room to make some tea to help them digest.

What he didn't know was that the basement was far more fascinating than he had imagined.

When the hall erupted in chaos, Catherine wasn't there; she planned to go to the restroom to take care of personal matters before going to Louis to practice her spells.

As she got up, the sound of soft sobbing from the cubicle caught her attention.

Catherine, who initially thought it was nothing, couldn't help but feel a little uneasy.

Contrary to her usual aloof and proud demeanor, she is actually terrified of ghosts and monsters. This weakness is unknown even to her parents, let alone her classmates.

The Hogwarts students had only three words to say about Catherine.

Do not mess with them.

Some might wonder, since there are ghosts in Hogwarts, isn't she afraid?

You need to understand one thing: the ghosts of Hogwarts are a different thing from those vengeful spirits... At least everyone is familiar with the ghosts of Hogwarts, so they naturally won't feel afraid.

So, Catherine, forcing herself to remain calm, tiptoed out of the cubicle, grabbed the door next door, and pulled it hard—

She recognized who was sobbing inside the cubicle.

Catherine breathed a sigh of relief, her heart finally calming down. A teasing expression appeared on her face: "Oh my, isn't this the little beaver from Gryffindor? Why aren't you in the Great Hall? Why are you crying here? Let me think..."

At this point, she covered her rosy lips with her right hand, her face full of feigned surprise: "Could it be that the little red squirrel doesn't want you anymore?"
