Chapter 38 Trolls

"Mind your own business!" Hermione shrieked. "You're the little beaver!"

"You're so fragile. Look at you, all you do when something happens is squat in the bathroom and cry. You're not a little beaver."

Hermione rolled her eyes at her.

"You're not a skunk, are you? Damn it..." Catherine feigned sudden realization, then said with disgust, "How can you stand being in an environment that smells like this?"

Hermione broke down.

"Aaaaaah!!!" Hermione screamed, "I'm not a skunk!!! You wretched woman!!!"

"I don't have time to play these pointless debate games with you." Catherine's eyes flashed with disdain. "Whether you're a beaver or a skunk, you should understand that sulking won't solve anything, and it will only make people look down on you more."

Hermione was about to say something when she was interrupted by a series of muffled thuds.

She wiped her eyes, stood up from the toilet, and cautiously asked, "Miss Worley, did you hear anything?"

Catherine nodded and turned to look in the direction the sound came from. A dark shadow, stretched long by the light, was steadily approaching the bathroom door.

So, who is the one with the problem that designed the bathroom door to be so big?

This was a shared idea between Catherine and Hermione.

A towering monster stood in the doorway, holding a large wooden club in his hand, staring at the gate with intelligent eyes.

A pungent, sour smell of socks that hadn't been washed for months wafted over, and Hermione couldn't hold it in any longer, so she vomited all over the floor.

She swore she'd rather smell the garlic in Professor Quirrell's Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom than suffer this inhuman torment.

"It's...it's a troll!" Hermione's face looked terrible, whether from vomiting, the smell, or being terrified, it was hard to tell.

The troll's gaze followed her voice, and her heart skipped a beat. She exclaimed urgently, "Oh no! It's found us!"

"Oh my god..." Hermione's throat was dry, and she felt weak all over, as if all her strength had been drained away. She could only lean against the door of the cubicle to maintain her posture. "I read in the books that trolls have a high resistance to magic... At our age, it's hard for any spell to do any effective damage to them..."

"Stand behind me!" Catherine didn't turn around; she drew her wand and stared intently at the giant in front of her.

No, I can't leave you alone—

"Get behind me!" Catherine grabbed Hermione's wrist and shoved her a short distance behind her. "You'll only get in my way!"

As they were speaking, a rumbling sound rang out again, and another giant monster walked over.

"I think...we're going to die." Hermione's words seemed to come from the deepest part of her throat, carrying a sense of disillusionment with the world.

"I guess it won't be today." Catherine waved her wand, and eerie green flames surged forth, devouring the first troll to death before Hermione's eyes widened in awe.

A fully upgraded Fiery Blaze is terrifyingly powerful.

At that moment, Hermione's eyes held a strange element that she herself did not understand or comprehend.

"Stupefy! (Faints and collapses)"

Catherine's wand tip shot out a pale blue spell, striking the second troll squarely on the forehead. The troll staggered, limping as if drunk, before collapsing to the ground with a thud.

"Hermione! Hermione!" Harry and Ron's voices rang out from the other side, and at the same time, two little heads popped out from the doorway.

Upon seeing Catherine, the two froze, their previously joyful faces instantly falling.

"Miss Vore..." the two stammered as they greeted each other.

"A red squirrel, and a four-eyed frog?" Catherine looked coldly at the two timid figures, and after a long while, she put her wand back into the pocket of her robe: "I think if you had come any later, you might have each been able to get a jar of beaver meat sauce."

"Harry, Ron..." Hermione was overjoyed to see her two friends. She ran over and hugged Harry tightly. When it was Ron's turn, she thought for a moment, but still gave Ron a hug: "I really didn't expect you two to come looking for me... Oh my god."

Children's grudges come and go quickly, and Hermione had already put Ron's bad words about her that afternoon behind her back.

"Hey, I thought you were going to say something else." Ron chuckled, scratching the back of his head. "That's what friends are for, isn't it?"

Harry grinned sheepishly, while Catherine looked at the nascent trio with disdain and said, "Well... Miss Beaver and her squirrel boyfriend—oh, and her frog besties—if there's nothing else, I think I'll be leaving."

Upon hearing this, all three of them blushed, especially Ron, whose head seemed to be steaming. He glanced at Harry, then stole a look at Hermione, and seeing that Hermione was also looking at him with a blush, he quickly turned his face away.

Potter stood there grinning like a complete idiot, looking no smarter than the trolls.

A series of hurried footsteps startled the trio awake and interrupted Catherine's attempt to leave. The first person to appear before them was Professor McGonagall, who looked at the unconscious troll on the ground, one hand covering her chest, panting heavily.

"Can anyone tell me what exactly happened here?" Her stern gaze swept over the group, making the three children feel a little uncomfortable.

Catherine didn't care, since it wasn't her fault anyway.

Snape entered at the opportune moment, limping. He glanced at Harry with concern before quickly averting his gaze and adopting a serious expression. Professor Quirrell followed behind him, glancing at the troll with a fleeting look of surprise before letting out a weak sob and sitting on a toilet, clutching his collar tightly.

"It's my fault, Professor," Hermione stepped forward first. "I thought I could handle trolls, you know, I've read about them in books..."

"It was Miss Worley who saved me, stunning the giant with a spell." She didn't say it was two, after all, Fiendfire, a dark magic... it wouldn't be good to say it out loud.

She didn't want to cause trouble for Harry and Ron, nor for Catherine, who had saved her.

"Harry and Ron were just worried about me, so they rushed over to rescue me," Hermione added.

Professor McGonagall gave Harry and Ron a stern look, and the two silly boys nodded vigorously, afraid that they would be scolded by Professor McGonagall if they nodded too slowly. It was obvious that these two were not very bright.
