Lynn felt a foot step over his shoulder. The owner of the foot was very light, but it still produced enough vibrations that caused the snow on his mask to slide off, forcing Lynn to see the scene of the battle.

In the sparse coniferous forest, swarms of ghouls were besieging a dozen warriors dressed in armor and wearing bronze helmets.

He was fairly familiar with the ghoul Lynn, and Blood Raven had a lot of information about them in his memories.

However, knowing and seeing are two different things. These ghostly things are much more ferocious than zombies. Although they all look like dried corpses and their weapons are mostly rotten swords, they are incredibly agile and fast.

Saying they were fearless of death wouldn't be quite right, but they were definitely hard to kill. Lynn saw one of the ghouls have its head cleaved in two by a greatsword, but its limbs were still unaffected. It frantically stabbed the ghoul in the stomach with its broken, half-broken knife.

That alone makes them stronger than zombies.

However, its attack was ineffective; the Thane warrior was wearing leather armor sewn with bronze scales, and the weapons in the ghoul's hands had no effect on him.

When it stabbed for the seventh time, the owner of the bronze scale armor pulled the greatsword from the body of another ghoul and swung it around, cutting it in half at the waist.

"Form a circle!"

The tall, thin man wielding the sword kicked the upper body of the ghoul aside, then gave orders to the others.

The Thane quickly formed a defensive position by backing onto a large tree.

No one died in the battle just now, but almost everyone was injured. They were panting heavily, and the white breaths they exhaled rose and fell, reaching a foot in length.

Further away, more ghouls were arriving. Although these ghouls also had all sorts of strange appearances, they were clearly closer to living people. Not only were their flesh and blood plump, but their weapons were also more presentable.

However, the speed was much slower. Compared to those ancient corpses, their muscles and tendons were still relatively fresh, so the cold weather made their joints stiff, and their bodies were also heavier.

With their arrival, the "light infantry" responsible for the pursuit and encirclement began to retreat. The White Walkers commanding from behind understood that they were unlikely to cause fatal damage, and continuing would only result in a waste of manpower. Therefore, the next attack would be taken over by these recently transformed wights.

Clearly, the leader of the Theon people understood this as well.

"I'll kill the white devils, then you can leave!"

Lynn heard the deep roar clearly.

This was their only option. The wights had no minds and had to be controlled by the White Walkers. Even if they couldn't kill the White Walkers, they could still disrupt the White Walkers' control over the wights, creating an opportunity for their people to break out.

The leader of the Thane men didn't waste any words. He pointed his greatsword sharply in the direction of Lynn and then charged forward.

The ghouls rushed forward to stop him, but he abandoned his defenses and broke through the encirclement by brute force, resulting in several wounds on his body.

When Lynn saw him rushing towards her, she froze, suspecting that the other man had mistaken her, who was half-buried in the snow, for a White Walker.

But before he could make any further guesses, a strange figure suddenly leaped down from the broken tree behind him and landed gracefully less than two meters in front of him, without making a sound.

Its body is as slender as a long sword, its skin is as white as milk, and its translucent armor is made of ice, reflecting the pale snow and the green of a few needle-like leaves.

Its feet trod on the soft, sandy snow, but the snow crust showed no sign of collapsing, as if its body was filled with cold air and contained no weight at all.

Its left hand was covered with a thick ice shield, while the ice sword in its right hand was as slender as its body, gleaming with a faint and eerie blue light.

It turns out the White Walkers had been standing on my head the whole time.

When Lynn realized this, he felt his blood run cold.

But why didn't it notice me?

A question arose in his mind: Aren't White Walkers able to sense the presence of the living?

Neither the wights nor the White Walkers noticed him, but how was he any different from the Thane who were being hunted?

Oh right, it's a spacesuit!

Lynn suddenly had an idea.

The airtight spacesuit concealed his scent, or perhaps his heat? Maybe the White Walkers search for the living based on heat, rather than the so-called scent of life.

However, this does not explain the existence of baby dragons. In terms of heat, a dragon's body temperature is more than 50% higher than that of a human.

No, I'm so stupid.

Lynn cursed herself in her heart.

The thermal blankets lined the box were coated with a metallic film; their main function was to insulate against heat and maintain body temperature in emergencies...

A roar that shook the mountains and forests interrupted Lynn's thoughts, and the battle began.

The longsword was raised high and slammed down heavily on the White Walker's ice shield, stirring up a small clump of fine ice crystals. The White Walker's legs sank slightly into the snow under the weight.

The leader of the Thane was fearless. After turning around and gathering his strength, he launched another powerful attack, but this time, along with the ice crystals, several shattered blades also flew out.

It turned out that during the interval between the two attacks, terrible frost had already covered the entire blade.

The owner of the greatsword did not notice this, and the third blow followed. This time, the ice shield and the greatsword shattered almost simultaneously, and the scattered fragments even hit Lynn.

The rough face beneath the Thane helmet froze, gripping the bare hilt of his sword, his grey eyes filled with a sense of bewilderment.

But the White Walkers moved swiftly and lightly, like snowflakes drifting in the wind, and their swords were as fast as blue lightning, cutting the air with sharp, mournful cries.

The next moment, the hand axe that the Thane had hastily used to block the blow broke, along with his neck.

The helmeted head slammed heavily into the snow, and a jet of blood gushed out from the clean cut of the neck, but the hot blood had already congealed into bright red ice beads before it hit the ground.

From the moment the greatsword first fell to the moment the corpse was severed from its head, the entire process lasted only a few breaths.

The White Walker picked up the head, removed his bronze helmet, and raised his bald, earless head to show off his power to the Thane who were preparing to break out.

A sound like shattering ice escaped from its throat, and even the Three-Eyed Raven, with its vast knowledge, would probably find it difficult to understand the meaning of this language.

The last resistance collapsed. Several Thane warriors, gripped by fear, silently dropped their weapons, while the others stared blankly as their god-like leader met a gruesome end in an instant.

Although they still had their weapons, their eyes revealed that they had lost the courage to resist.

Just then, Lynn made a move.

He was gambling—gambling that the White Walkers wouldn't sense his presence, gambling that the sound of the snow falling from his body would be masked by the commotion of the wights around him, and even gambling that the legendary dragonsteel weapon that could kill the White Walkers was Valyrian steel.

And so, to the astonishment of the Thane, a terrifying king clad in pale armor rose from the snow, his helmet reflecting a rainbow of colors. The long, deadly sword in his hand pierced the White Walker's neck with a single blow, the tip emerging from the White Walker's mouth.

In an instant, the White Walker's armor and ice sword melted away like dew, and wisps of smoke rose from his wounds.

Lynn saw pale blue blood gushing out, flowing down the Dark Sisters' sword towards the dragon-wing-shaped hilt. Unsure if the attack was fatal enough, he shook the sword and stirred it a few times.

Fear? It doesn't exist.

Lynn believed that if he didn't take advantage of the chaos to kill the White Walker, he would never be able to leave Ghostwood. On the contrary, if he could save one or two Thernians, his chances of survival would be much better if he went with them.

The White Walker's body fell forward onto the snow and began to writhe strangely, shrinking a little with each twist.

It is melting.

The surrounding ghouls were thrown into chaos, and Lynn noticed that the blood on the sword was repeatedly freezing and melting. He could feel the sword radiating heat, resisting the power of the frost.

With a sharp screech, the dragon that had been sleeping in the box crawled out. It spread its wings, dragged its slender, blood-red body a few steps on the snow, and then flapped its wings and landed on Lynn's shoulder.

At first, there were only a few wisps of smoke, followed by a burst of blazing white flame that spewed from its mouth, the flame being twice the length of the young dragon's body.

When the dragonfire landed on the Valyrian steel sword, the White Walker's blood instantly turned into steam.
