Warhammer: Starting with Industrial Revolution

Chapter 131: Education Should Start from Childhood

Inside the secret room, the initial composure of the two combatants had long since vanished.

Both Ronin and Edward were exhausted, but neither of them admitted defeat.

Luo Ning possessed all the martial arts techniques in the world and knew how to avoid every attack in the most effortless way, but his physical body was ultimately just that of an ordinary person without any enhancements.

While Edward lacked this extraordinary combat experience and was still just a teenager, he possessed what Ronin lacked most:

The endless endurance and ruthless determination honed by the struggle for survival of the lowest-class slaves.

Even when he exhausted his last bit of strength, he never gave up.

Faced with Edward's actions, Ronin could have stopped him at any time, but he remained silent.

This obsession and resilience is exactly what he wanted to see.

However, humans are not machines after all, and there are always limits.

After a long standoff, both men were exhausted. Luo Ning leaned against the wall, unable to even catch his breath. Everything in his vision was blurry. It wasn't just physical exhaustion; he felt like he was about to die any second.

Ed was in even worse shape, but his eyes remained fixed on Ronin.

However, in the process, the deep despair and hatred in his eyes gradually dissipated.

Once again, he became that stubborn child, as if he was just fighting for his last breath.

Even though his whole body was limp like a lump of mud, and he could no longer feel his legs, he still moved his body, trying to get even a little closer to Luo Ning.

Obsession is always the most terrifying force a person can possess.

Just then, the door to the secret room was suddenly pushed open.

Garan angrily rebuked the negligent guards outside the door and quickly stepped forward to help the exhausted Ronin out.

Luo Ning's head was buzzing. He could feel someone next to him opening some kind of crystal container and slowly pouring the liquid inside into his mouth.

In that instant, a clear stream flowed through his entire body.

Luo Ning felt his heartbeat become stronger again, and his blurred consciousness instantly cleared up. Even the pain of his muscles tearing all over his body was greatly reduced.

He took a deep breath, and finally came back to life.

"Master, are you alright?"

The buzzing in my head finally became clear, and a sweet call rang in my ears, tinged with tears.

Luo Ning focused his gaze and saw Lillian, Jasmine, and Daphne's faces, which were already streaked with tears.

"I'm fine, it's just that I think I overdid it a bit."

"My lord, you were too reckless!" Galan's voice was filled with lingering fear. "Although you have a profound foundation in martial arts, your body has not undergone any strengthening. Doing this will kill you. Your heart almost stopped beating just now."

It was only then that Ronin noticed that Garan had been in the room the whole time, but had left the closest spot to Ronin's harem.

Ronin scratched his head, laughing awkwardly, but then suddenly remembered that Edward was just a slave and didn't have the same good treatment as him. "What about that kid! Don't let him die!"

"How could I dare to neglect someone personally trained by an adult?" Garan shook his head with a smile, saying with a helpless expression, "I've already given him the medicine; he won't die."

Luo Ning finally breathed a sigh of relief and asked weakly, "Have the other children returned?"

"They're back, sir." Garland nodded. "These kids are more hardworking than we expected; they're all promising talents."

"Only those who have witnessed the despair of the underprivileged will fight tooth and nail to turn their lives around." Luo Ning propped himself up, rubbed the girls' heads, and looked up at Garland, saying, "Don't leave tonight, let's have dinner together."

The group soon arrived at the restaurant, which hadn't been this lively in a long time.

The long, narrow dining table was filled with people. Ronin sat in the main seat, with Garland on one side and his three harem members on the other.

Clearly, Hana also wanted to get closer to Ronning, but unfortunately, Ronning placed her opposite Edward.

Hana was eager to get close to Ronning, but she was deliberately placed opposite Edward.

Ed looked at Hannah with a strange and complicated expression.

Faced with the girl's concern, he forced a smile, but his gaze turned to Luo Ning.

He knew perfectly well what Ronin meant by making such an arrangement: he couldn't have Hana, nor did he deserve her.

But at least, Ronning placed him in a position as close to Hana as possible.

After a day of fighting, he realized just how vast the gap was between himself and Luo Ning.

A day of extreme training made him realize the insurmountable gap between the two of them.

This planetary ruler kept his word, never retaliating throughout the entire attack, always keeping his hands behind his back and relying solely on dodging to deal with all of his attacks.

He tried his best, from the start to exhaustion, using every possible method, but he couldn't even touch the hem of his opponent's clothes.

When dinner was served, the boys stared in disbelief at the table laden with delicious food.

As slaves, they had never had a full meal, let alone such a sumptuous feast.

The strongest boy, named Finch, stuffed large chunks of meat into his mouth while looking at Edward sitting next to him: "Are you alright? You seem a bit strange today."

"It seems the beating you got this morning was more serious than I thought?" The sly boy Gil looked Ed up and down, noticing something amiss from Ed's trembling hands. "What did you do all afternoon? It's not just about being tired."

"Judging from this, you almost ruined yourself through training?"

"Are you as tired as us? I didn't know military training was that bad! This morning I didn't even get a sip of water, and I was seeing stars!"

"No, I think the training of the combat nuns is the most terrifying. It feels like they could kill us at any moment!"

"Am I the only one who thinks all the nuns are so beautiful? I'd be willing to be beaten to death by them."

The boys started chatting animatedly, and the initial tense atmosphere at the dinner table dissipated as they talked.

The girls couldn't understand what the boys were saying, but they chattered excitedly with their little groups about what they had seen and heard that day.

"Your Excellency has shown great foresight by cultivating trusted confidants from a young age; this move was absolutely right," Garland exclaimed sincerely.

Luo Ning raised his glass and lightly clinked it with his: "This world is dangerous. We must accumulate strength. We can't always let our brothers risk their lives."

Garland raised his glass and downed the red wine in one gulp.

"It is our blessing to be able to follow you, sir."

"Glory belongs to the Empire." Ronin smiled and drank it all in one gulp as well.

Garland shook his head, his tone incredibly sincere:

"No, my lord. The Empire has never cared about our lives; in its eyes, we are just a string of numbers. Only you truly treat us as human beings. This cup of wine is only for you."

Luo Ning smiled slightly, said nothing, and simply patted Garan's shoulder gently.
