Warhammer: Starting with Industrial Revolution
Chapter 17: You want to cause trouble, don't you?
When everything seems to be going well, things often don't go so smoothly.
The period of calm did not last long, and the alarm bells for the planetary defense forces were sounded once again.
Looking at the red threat displayed on the screen, Luo Ning felt a headache coming on. This time, the space pirates came in a fierce manner, gathering a large number of warships. Even if he asked for help, by the time the star field governor arrived, the pirates would have already left.
But there was no time to worry about it now. According to radar calculations, the group of space pirates would arrive here in less than an hour.
But at that moment, a face suddenly appeared on the control panel of the Governor's Mansion.
"Well, esteemed Governor Karl, how have you been?"
The person in the holographic projection that appeared was Hero, a wild dog once kept by Baron Hack, and also the leader of the largest space pirate gang in this star system.
"My fleet needs resupply. Quickly disable orbital defenses, open the starport, and let me in."
With an arrogant smile on his face, he stared intently at the panicked Governor Karl through the holographic projection.
"Hiro, what exactly is your purpose? Your master, Baron Harker, has been killed." Ronin stared at that face and asked slowly.
Hiro turned his head, his face full of disdain, and looked at Ronnin. "When did it become your turn to speak? Don't bark like a dog, or your master won't give you any bones. Besides, Hark isn't my master. I should say I'm his master. Thanks to Hark for always paying me tribute on time, otherwise I would have blown up your poor, remote planet long ago."
Hearing what Hiro said, Ronin silently withdrew from the scanning range of the holographic image.
Governor Karl, seeing his face turn cold, knew that Ronin had decided to kill him.
"What exactly do you want?" The insult to Ronin even emboldened Governor Karl, who stopped trembling and walked straight toward the arrogant face of Hiro in the holographic image.
"I never thought Governor Karl, known for being utterly useless, would ever show such an expression." Hiro grinned, his face full of arrogance. "I won't repeat myself. Immediately deactivate your orbital defenses, send all your valuables to low Earth orbit, and lastly, replenish your ammunition. Isn't ammunition the specialty of your useless hive?"
Governor Karl did not reply, but turned to look at Ronin who was standing to the side.
At this moment, Luo Ning was assigning tasks. The communications officer had already completely blocked civilian communication channels and stopped public broadcasting services the moment Shiro's communication came in.
Hearing Hiro's constant urging, Ronin turned his head, extended his middle finger toward the holographic projection, and then bent it several times.
Governor Karl instantly understood what that meant. He turned his head and looked at Hiro's holographic projection.
"Hiro, I can let you in, but we can't transport supplies to low Earth orbit." He said, a look of utter helplessness on his face.
"You know the state of our planet. It was attacked by other pirate groups not long ago, and the defense forces have very few usable ships left."
Upon hearing Governor Karl's words, Hiro's face immediately darkened. "Damn it! Enough with the nonsense! Use as many ships as you have! Bring them up immediately!"
"Alright, alright, don't worry, I'll arrange it for you. How many troop transport ships do we have left?" He turned his head and asked Luo Ning, who was standing next to him, knowing the answer already.
Luo Ning sneered: "Currently, only two ships are still functional, but their propulsion systems are severely damaged, so it will probably be difficult to transport them to the altitude of the defense orbit."
"Huh? How could this be? How come the Mechanical Church guys are repairing things so slowly?" Governor Karl was full of surprise.
Ronin waved his hand. "Don't mention it, Governor. The Mechanicus says they're short of key components and will have to wait until the next supply ship arrives. If it's urgently needed now, I'll talk to the Mechanic Priest and see if we can salvage some parts from other troop transport ships to use as spares."
"Wouldn't that be an even bigger waste of time?"
As the two put on their act, Hiro's expression grew increasingly worse, his face contorted with inner turmoil.
It's clear that his fleet desperately needs supplies, but the risk of landing on the ground is indeed very high.
"Why don't you come down yourself, Hiro? You heard it too, there's nothing we can do." Governor Karl turned around, looking like he was looking out for him. "But the Imperial tax collectors are coming soon. You can have money or supplies, but you can't touch the ammunition."
He tried his best to remain calm, and even his voice stopped trembling. At this moment, he finally looked like a planetary governor.
"Useless is useless. My fleet is almost here. Don't try anything funny, or your dilapidated nests will be bombed." Hero cursed impatiently, then cut off the communication.
Governor Karl slumped into his chair the next second, turned to look at Ronin, who gave him a satisfied smile.
"Don't worry, Governor, we are no longer who we used to be. Now we are terrifyingly strong." Ronin walked over and patted him on the shoulder.
Governor Karl nodded slowly, like a block of wood. "It's up to you."
After slowly nodding, Luo Ning began to manage the entire planet.
The delivery location was chosen to be a wasteland far from the city. Ronin prepared a large number of empty boxes as bait, which were controlled by the ground forces of the defense army.
The reforms of the past two months have brought about tremendous changes to the Nest City world they live in, and now it is time to test the results.
The planetary defense forces mobilized rapidly and methodically, while the defense ships deployed on the orbital platform remained hidden.
He concealed almost all of his heavy firepower outside his field of vision.
When he lived in China, he would complain about stories or videos about the Warhammer universe. He said that those powerful cannons could have been used for attacks beyond the line of sight, but the commanders in the Warhammer world used them for melee combat, which was a waste of such powerful firepower.
Meanwhile, inside the hive city, the Lightning fighters were ready to take off at any time, and the transport planes were already filled with eager defense soldiers.
An hour later, Hero's fleet arrived.
He was very cunning; he did not allow his main flagship to land, while the other ships slowly descended into the atmosphere.
"Welcome, my friend." Sitting in the command room, Ronin grinned as he looked at the images on the screen. This would be his first real battle since he came to this world.
