Warhammer: Starting with Industrial Revolution

Chapter 69: The Day of Harvest Has Arrived

Just then, the blue light on the terminal went dark without warning.

It flickered twice before falling completely silent, all the text and labels on the panel went out, leaving only a cold, black plastic screen.

The hum in the server room faded away, leaving only the sound of their breathing echoing in the empty space.

"Praise be to the God of Machines." After a long silence, Viktor spoke slowly, as if sighing. "The Machine Soul has found peace. It guarded the darkness for twelve thousand years, exhausting the last bit of power in its energy storage core, just to deliver the Creator's last words, the final glory of humanity, into our hands."

He turned around, bowed deeply to the dark terminal, and recited a short, comforting prayer.

"Praise be to the God of All Machines, praise be to this sacred machine spirit that held fast to the very last moment. It has not truly perished, but has merely fallen into slumber. We will bring it steady holy light, soothe its weariness, awaken its will, and complete its unfinished mission."

Looking at the screen in front of him, even Luo Ning couldn't help but believe in the existence of the Machine Soul.

For tens of thousands of years, without any maintenance or repair, this terminal was still running and lasted until the very last second when Viktor finished reading the content.

"Praise be to the God of all things." This was the first time Ronin had praised him so sincerely.

"Lord Luo Ning, this time you have found true assurance. After the machine spirits have maintained and repaired these production lines, they will soon be able to start production. And the weapons you need to develop the Nest City Enhancement Force are also readily available."

Viktor and Ronin walked out of the room and looked at the dilapidated production line outside. Viktor, unusually, took the initiative to start a conversation, indicating that he was in a really good mood.

Ronin bowed politely: "Lord Victor, I plan to designate a private, enclosed research area for you within this colony, for your research on machine spirits and equipment debugging. Do you have an area you'd like to see?"

He is not someone who only takes; if he wants to gain the long-term support of allies, he must first show enough sincerity.

Viktor may not make demands, but he must not pretend not to see them.

Sure enough, upon hearing this, the red light in Viktor's mechanical eyes softened slightly, and his expression towards him was full of approval:

"Thank you for your thoughtfulness, Lord Ronin. However, there's no rush. Let's explore the colony thoroughly first, and then we can discuss this further."

Luo Ning nodded slowly and followed Viktor out of the production workshop, back to the central square, and into the corridor at the other end.

This is the automated warehousing and logistics area for the entire colony.

The scene before me was a scene of utter devastation. Everywhere were traces of laser firefights, scattered human skeletons, and storage warehouses of all sizes that had been blown open in the battle, their contents strewn across the ground.

The automated logistics track suspended in the air was snapped in half, and twisted metal debris fell down, blocking most of the passage.

Fortunately, most of the enclosed containers remained intact and sealed, and even the damaged containers did not have their core components completely destroyed.

For the Mechanicus, repairing this level of mechanical damage would be a piece of cake.

What Luo Ning was really concerned about was what was sealed inside the container.

The soldiers struggled to move out the first few storage boxes and pried open the sealing latches.

When the door of the first container opened, Luo Ning's eyes lit up instantly.

Inside, rows of vacuum-sealed packets of plant seeds were neatly arranged, with the logo of the Golden Age of humanity printed on the packaging.

Viktor's mechanical eye scanned the seed packet, its red light flashing rapidly as it completed the component scan, and he slowly said:

"These are gene-edited, genetically modified seeds from the golden age, producing radiation-resistant, barren-tolerant, and ultra-high-yielding grain and vegetable varieties that are perfectly suited to the soil environment and radiation concentration of this planet. They mature in just three months, yield more than thirty times the yield of your existing farm crops, and come with disease and pest resistance genes, requiring virtually no complicated field management."

Unfortunately, most of the scattered and damaged seed packets have long since lost their vitality over the course of thousands of years, and the seeds inside have turned into dust that crumbles at the slightest touch.

But Luo Ning knew in his heart that with the vacuum sealing technology of the Golden Age, there must still be a large number of intact active seeds hidden in this storage area.

As long as he can find these seeds and plant them on a large scale in the purified farm outside the hive, he will no longer have to worry about the food shortage in the hive in just a few months.

The other container contained well-preserved individual protective armor.

Ronin picked up a piece of armor that was unbelievably light, but he knew perfectly well that its defensive capabilities were at least twice as strong as the standard equipment provided to his planetary defense forces!

The key point is that these don't need to be produced; these armors remain as good as new even after tens of thousands of years.

He could immediately re-equip all the elite troops of the defense force, enabling the troops to achieve a qualitative leap in combat effectiveness.

The next few containers mostly succumbed to the ravages of time; the bags were all torn, leaving only a patch of black ash inside.

"It contains some kind of organic matter, and even with the best preservation methods, it simply cannot withstand the erosion of tens of thousands of years."

Viktor gently brushed away the black ash from the container and spoke slowly.

Everyone was stunned when the soldiers worked together to pry open the huge, sealed container at the deepest part of the warehouse.

Inside, neatly arranged slabs of polished, pure white marble were laid out. The stone was delicate and warm, without a single flaw, and gleamed with a soft sheen under the emergency lights.

The moment the container was opened, Father Moraes's breath caught in his throat.

His hands, gripping the subspace detection device tightly, trembled involuntarily for the first time, and his cloudy eyes shone with an unprecedented light.

In the human empire, this pure, flawless white marble was the premier material for building imperial chapels.

"Father, all of this marble will be entrusted to you for the future use in building a sacred chapel dedicated to the Emperor," Ronin said promptly, his tone solemn.

Father Moraes turned sharply, his eyes filled with excitement and gratitude as he looked at Ronin. It took him a full ten seconds to calm his rapid breathing before he bowed deeply to Ronin.

"Lord Ronin's loyalty and devotion to the Emperor will be forever etched in my memory, and I will certainly report it to the Sector State Church. The Emperor's radiance will forever protect you and this planet."

The warehouse also contains a large number of well-sealed heavy containers that require large engineering equipment to open.

But Ronin was no longer in a hurry. The gains he had made so far far exceeded his expectations and were even enough to completely change the future of this planet.

Compared to where they were headed next, their current gains were merely appetizers.

The second basement level is the true core of this colonial ruin.
