Chapter 1137 The Wakanda Civil War

Chapter 1137 The Wakanda Civil War (First Update)

During the First Latvian War of Expansion, an average of three hundred Fire Knights were assigned to each country in Southeast Europe.

The three hundred Infernal Knights were also tasked with attacking several military bases, suppressing urban resistance forces, and even mountain guerrillas. Even so, they still managed to deliver the crown of victory to the Emperor within the allotted time, and the Emperor was generous with his praise and honor. Now, to deal with this Wakanda civil war, a total of over seven hundred warriors had been deployed. Malcolm felt this was far too many; ten Pegasus-type assault transport ships filled with Infernal Knights could easily conquer the entirety of Wakanda, not just the capital, Golden City.

In the early stages of the war, some resistance forces still existed. In order to quickly eliminate these firing points, the ammunition and fuel transported from the Skysword Space Station were being consumed rapidly. This did not even include the ammunition and fuel consumption of the mortal troops of the First Secret Regiment of the Fimbulwinter, who later entered the city to carry out suppression operations. That army, which belonged to the intelligence department, had its own independent logistics system. Even disregarding the Fimbulwinter First Secret Regiment, which acted strangely and was obviously carrying out espionage missions in secret, Corps Commander Malcolm had a headache after seeing the data reported by the armored vehicles.

He believed that the Hell Knights were not adequately prepared for this war.

If half of the fully armed Infernal Knights transported in the horse-shaped assault transport ships and the heavy armored personnel carrier in the cargo hold were replaced with ammunition and fuel, they could also capture the Golden City before dawn the next day. The Infernal Knights are experimenters with a wide range of tactics, from rapid strikes to area extermination, from siege warfare to stealth infiltration, from psychological warfare to information jamming—all are in their tactical manuals. The five hundred superhuman warriors who entered the city were like knives cutting through grease; it was only through a variety of tactics that they were able to break through the makeshift defenses built by the warriors still loyal to the new King En Jadaka in a short time.

Conquering urbanized areas like the Golden City commercial district is one of the Fire Knights' specialized tactics. Whether it's counterinsurgency or large-scale bombing, the Fire Knights are adept at it. However, the agreement reached between the Emperor and the former rulers of Wakanda was for a swift victory and minimal casualties. Malcolm could only order the Fire Knights to follow orders and reduce the use of those terrifying tactics. Some of the genetically modified warriors' individual tactics were designed to use fear to force the enemy to surrender. In this war, such tactics were only allowed to be used on a small scale and against specific targets. The tallest Wakandans could only obtain the lower edge of the Fire Knights' shoulder armor. When these demigod-like giant warriors came into close contact with the enemy, many Wakandans who originally had the idea of fighting to the death would have their morale collapse, not to mention those who had witnessed them fighting in close combat.

This condition is known as "transhuman phobia" in Latvia. When faced with such an unstoppable war machine, the deep-seated human fear of the giants at the top of the food chain is reawakened, and it is difficult to resist this instinct without a strong will. Psychologists within the Legion have developed a set of tactics specifically designed to target mortals, aiming to instill extreme fear in the enemy and thus render them incapable of tactical command. The Golden City commercial district is currently the testing ground for this tactic.

In the towering skyscrapers of the Golden City, the tactical and modified advantages of the Fire Knights were brought to their fullest potential. Clad in jet-powered armor, the Fire Knights ignited their engines, leaving long, scorching trails of flame as they soared from the ground into the sky before crashing into enemy strongholds within the buildings. Their clean, precise shooting, brutal hand-to-hand combat, robust power armor, and superhuman strength combined to create an urban warfare advantage that allowed them to quickly eliminate hidden firing positions within buildings. Pulse weapons and ballistic weapons bounced harmlessly off their power armor, while chainswords whistled through the air before slicing down, cleaving enemies in two. The roar of explosive guns, accompanied by the clatter of large-caliber ammunition casings hitting the ground like raindrops, composed a symphony of death.

Wakanda had enjoyed peace for too long, and when the fear of war loomed over them, many Wakandans were at a loss because they had no relevant education in their lives. When the Infernal Knights stormed forward and pushed the battle line to within about twenty kilometers of the royal palace, thanks to the virus implanted in the communication system by members of the War Dogs organization and the brainwashing broadcasts conducted by the Infernal Knights after they seized the communication center, most Wakandans knew that this was a conflict confined to the royal family.

Most Wakandans chose to stay indoors or in their workplaces, which created conditions for the Infernal Knights to achieve a swift victory. While the genetically modified warriors were pleased with the convenience of this combat method, they also despised the Wakandans' weakness. In fact, in the wars they had experienced, the Wakandans' fighting spirit was not particularly strong, not even comparable to the fanatics of the Middle East, who at least had the audacity to fire at the Infernal Knights with rifled AK-47s that had their rifling worn down.

"No candidates, brother," the adjutant reported to the legion commander. "Civilization has eroded their will; they are too weak to withstand the trials. Their limbs have become supple with the conveniences of life, and their minds have become indecisive because of civilization. We will find no candidates here; the sound of a chainsaw sword is enough to terrify them. Compared to those chosen on the battlefield, the Wakandas have no potential as warriors."

The battle to capture the noble mansions was similar to the battle to capture the Golden City trading district, and even easier.

It was nearly impossible to say that the nobles were loyal, given that King Enjadaka had only been on the throne for less than two days. The Infernal Knights easily dispatched the nobles' guards, and with dozens of explosive guns pointed at their heads, those nobles who had initially pledged allegiance to the new king unsurprisingly surrendered and renewed their allegiance to Princess Shuri. After this, the Infernal Knights recaptured more and more important locations without bloodshed, until they had complete control of the entire city and had assembled a private army of surrendered nobles to maintain order in the Wakanda war zone, freeing up the Infernal Knights to attack the royal palace.

"Our soldiers have infiltrated the palace to rescue your mother. If you wish, we can destroy the building after the mission is complete. The rocket launchers in the rear are all equipped with thermobaric warheads; even if the building's frame is made of vibranium, it will melt. We don't mind dropping some thermobaric and incendiary bombs." Malcolm lowered his head and spoke to Princess Shuri, who could barely reach his chest armor plate. "Unless you want us to go in and drag N'Jadaka out for you to hang, or you need his complete corpse for a parade to rekindle the common people's awareness of the king's authority."

"No need, just surround it like this." Princess Surui raised her pale face. "The throne must be reclaimed by my own hands."

"Who? When?"

“He’s on his way.” Princess Shuri clenched her fist. She didn’t know what T’Challa would think of Wakanda’s current state, but she believed it was worth it. She didn’t know where this idea came from, and at times she even thought that if her brother wasn’t willing to reclaim the throne, she would take the Heart-Shaped Herb and challenge N’Jadaka herself. “Soon.” Princess Shuri let out a long breath, her nostrils filled with the acrid smell of burning flesh and steel amidst the charred ruins. “I want to make another deal with you, Commander.”

"What agreement?" Malcolm, after hearing Princess Shuri's request, immediately gained a new understanding of the woman before him. "Alright, I agree." He glanced at the Wakandan army that had been summoned behind him; those men had already submitted to Princess Shuri. The legion commander said, "You must understand, this means that Wakanda will have to give up more than just an industrial noble seat."

"I know," Princess Surui said, "but without the throne, the Golden Tribe has nothing."
