Chapter 115 Recruitment

Chapter 115 Recruitment (First Update, Please Subscribe)

"Do you know Asgardians, Agent Victoria Hand?" Salomon ignored the pistol pointed at the back of his head and the tall, red-haired woman behind him. "Are you fighting for humanity?"

"Who are you?" Victoria Hand stepped forward, pressing the muzzle of her gun against Salomon's head. She demanded sharply, "Who gave you this address? What's your purpose here?!"

"Looks like you agents all have the same problem. When Nick Fury first met me, he bombarded me with a bunch of nonsense, which really annoyed me," Salomon said with a helpless smirk. His sole purpose in coming here was to poach a top agent, because when Nick Fury set him up, Salomon realized that relying on S.H.I.E.L.D. to develop Kamar-Taj's secular power was extremely unrealistic.

Kamar-Taj's population is negligible compared to the entire world's population, as those with magical talent are few, and even fewer can pass the Vishanti's trials. With such a small number, maintaining the entire Earth free from magical threats is extremely difficult. Earth's current peace, free from the threat of extradimensional demons, is entirely due to the Sorcerer Supreme's presence on Kamar-Taj. However, as time passes, the Sorcerer Supreme will eventually relinquish his role. At that time, Salomon will need a force—a force capable of wielding magical weapons—to deal with the dark magic creatures within Earth, allowing the Kamar-Taj sorcerers to focus their attention on dealing with extradimensional threats.

Strange is unreliable; his only talent is causing trouble.

This team will be built on the foundation of the Brotherhood of Shield, and Salomon plans to find a time to investigate and inherit the Brotherhood's legacy. He no longer trusts Nick Fury; even if he were to hand over the Brotherhood to Fury, the guy would still have his own agenda. Agent Coulson is extremely loyal to Fury and was never Salomon's choice. Maria Hill is even less likely; she is also a trusted subordinate of Fury, and she was originally sent by the World Security Council to supervise S.H.I.E.L.D., so even if S.H.I.E.L.D. falls into chaos, she can safely escape.

Victoria Hand was the only high-caliber talent Salomon chose, given that she was originally destined to die in the S.H.I.E.L.D. internal strife. Salomon didn't even need to worry about her loyalty, because as long as there was a contract, there was no need to worry about betrayal—he just needed to find a law firm to help him draft the contract, and a foolproof contract would solve all the problems.

Victoria Hand blinked quickly; her hand was steady, ready to fire at any moment.

"I know you have access to the files on the Asgardians. Thor, the Destroyer… those figures from mythology have now become reality. Ah, I shouldn't say that. I should say this is the first time modern humanity has come to know what the real world is like. The arrival of the Asgardians has awakened humanity from its arrogance," Salomon said with a smile. "Would you like to know more?"

Victoria Hand's heart was beating steadily. "What do you know?" she asked.

"everything."

"What is your purpose?"

"How so? When a person is involved in a great undertaking, he will be invincible. These are Nick Fury's words, and you believe them wholeheartedly." Salomon slowly stood up, the clear moonlight spilling over him, casting a hazy, shimmering light on everything from his silver chain buckle to the shroud, from his jeweled ring to his long, slightly wavy black hair. He slowly turned around, looking across the sofa at Victoria Hand, who stood in the shadows.

"The fundamental principle of S.H.I.E.L.D. is protection—protecting individuals from harm, protecting humanity from aliens. These are all very broad tasks. But believe it or not, it has never been S.H.I.E.L.D. that has protected Earth. For thousands of years, it has been us who have protected the independent development of Earth's civilization from the threats of enemies. The Asgardians are our allies. S.H.I.E.L.D. is completely powerless against future threats, therefore I invite you to join me."

"Who are you?!"

"Salomon Damonet, from Kamar-Taj, a magical organization dedicated to protecting humanity. Our lineage comes from the most powerful sorcerer in the world before the dawn of human civilization (Agomot). You will be the second person in S.H.I.E.L.D. to know my identity; the first was Nick Fury." Salomon clapped his hands, and the living room lights suddenly switched on. Victoria Hand was startled by the sudden light, followed by a tinkling sound.

As Salomon waved his finger, steam billowed from the kettle that had been sitting still on the table. The white porcelain teacup reached out its little hand, picked up the silver spoon beside it, and hopped onto the table, tapping its head. The tea bag tore open its wrapper, tied a sugar cube to the string beside it, and danced up and down to the tinkling sound of the white porcelain teacup. Finally, stepping on the silver spoon, they leaped together into the teacup filled with hot water, took a comfortable bath, and let out a satisfied sigh.

The fairytale-like scene left Victoria Hand wide-eyed. Her first thought was that she had been poisoned; it was an enemy ambush, using some kind of hallucinogenic gas.

"Magic, not some hallucinogen. It would cost far more to induce hallucinations like this. Don't doubt it, this is magic. My files are top secret; even level ten access wouldn't be able to access them. This isn't my first time at Trisolaris headquarters, and I've observed you. You're the one I'm most satisfied with," Salomon said. "Also, I must apologize. I saw tea bags under the table and took it upon myself to use them."

Salomon walked over, sat down on the sofa, and picked up his teacup to drink. He had no intention of recruiting an agent with just a few words; he had only laid out a condition.

"I just returned from Asgard with a gift for you. This is the finest mead from Asgard; I hope you enjoy it. Ms. Hand, this is an invitation," Salomon said. "When you are utterly disillusioned with S.H.I.E.L.D., you can contact me, whatever your situation may be. If you are alive, I will recruit you; if you are dead… well, you owe me a life."

------------

"You actually recruited my agents!" Nick Fury yelled. "I was even planning to compensate you!"

"What do you think you can give me, Nick Fury? I don't need anything from you. I only took your diamonds last time because they were raw materials." Salomon said, his eyes closed and his legs propped up on the desk. He waved his hand impatiently, signaling Nick Fury to stop talking nonsense; he was having a headache.

Bayonetta's stimulation was so intense that he didn't even dare to spend the night in that apartment. Bayonetta's assessment was "a shy boy's clumsy kissing skills," but Salomon didn't find Bayonetta particularly skilled either. Even back in his bedroom in Kamar-Taj, under the influence of puberty hormones, he still couldn't get a good night's sleep. It wasn't until he took the drug (the Panacea), and the previous potion wore off, and the Asgardian mead kicked in, that he finally fell asleep.

Victoria Hand's report to Nick Fury was entirely expected by Salomon, as she had been a loyal follower of S.H.I.E.L.D. before its collapse. This strong woman demanded that Nick Fury reveal Salomon's information, but due to his contract with Salomon, she received nothing—Fuchry only told her he was Salomon's supervisor. Without that statement, Ms. Hand might have continued her relentless pursuit.

"And this!" Nick Fury laid out another item—the mead Salomon had given to Lady Hand. "You didn't say you went to Asgard! What were you doing there?"

"Do I need to inform you before I go to Asgard, Nick Fury? That's Kamar-Taj's internal affair. You'd better not get involved. Don't forget our agreement; it's written in the contract that I won't care if the people in front of me are S.H.I.E.L.D. agents or not. For them, death is the only option. I think you've already seen that." Salomon sounded extremely impatient. His vacation was almost over, and his schedule was packed for the remaining days. He couldn't possibly give up his chance to go to Akihabara just to communicate with Nick Fury.

"Let's negotiate properly, Salomon Damonette."

"Then fulfill the contract properly and don't try to find loopholes." Salomon opened his eyes. "Using information about dark magic creatures in exchange for magical support. Our relationship is purely transactional."

"You hold a grudge like that? I reminded you to fulfill your obligations on the plane."

"Then you'd better not bring it up," Salomon glared at him. "Otherwise, I'll get angry just thinking about how you schemed against me."

"Okay, I admit I was wrong about that, I've apologized, and I promise to make it up to you," Nick Fury said. "And..."

"And what?"

"I don't think you genuinely want to recruit my agents. You just want a little revenge, otherwise you wouldn't have approached Agent Hand. But I must say, your methods are far too naive," Nick Fury said with a smile. "I think your intelligence skills are good, but I can teach you more. I believe S.H.I.E.L.D. has more experience in protecting the world. You and I are the same kind of people—people who will stop at nothing to protect this world. Why don't you leave Eton College and come to S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy? At S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy, you can learn more systematically."

"Really? You think that's all I did? Well, then keep that assumption. I won't tell you anything more." Salomon shrugged. "And I'm not as bad as you make me out to be, am I? I'm a spellcaster, not a secret agent. Besides... what's S.H.I.E.L.D.? Can it compare to Oxford?"
