Chapter 152 Ma'am Fuck Hero
Chapter 152 Damn It! (Second Update! Please Vote!)
Salomon tilted his head and glanced at Nick Fury. He hadn't expected Nick Fury to be so agreeable this time, almost unnaturally so. He knew Nick Fury was a very insecure person, so his easy leniency meant he must have some kind of backing... or perhaps, he already knew the key information from the last mission?
The sorcerer recalled Coulson's interest in Randolph Carter's bookshelf, and the order in which they boarded the carriage. He had been the first to get in, followed by Coulson and Natasha, and for a brief moment, Salomon had been unaware of Coulson's activities. Thinking of this, Salomon's eyes hardened.
"How much did you watch?" he asked bluntly. "How much did Coulson take?"
Nick Fury stared at Salomon standing at the table, a bewildered look on his face, and at the orange-red sparks flickering in his hand. "What are you talking about?" he said. "Don't you think you should explain yourself?"
"You agents are good at petty theft, but I have to clean up your messes." Salomon's expression was extremely serious. "Give it to me, Nick Fury, or I'll find the answer in your head."
"Hey, calm down, Salomon." Nick Fury kicked the ground, sending his chair sliding backward a short distance. "You'd better explain yourself. If you're talking about something dangerous, I think I can help."
"How many books did Coulson take from that strange place?" The sorcerer summoned Phoenix, letting it grab Nick Fury's collar. The power of a demon was beyond what a normal person like Nick Fury could resist. "And how much of it did you read? I need to know all of this, not only to stop you from going mad, but also to prevent some fools from summoning evil gods."
"Agent Coulson gave me nothing," Nick Fury raised his voice. "I admit, I collected information about magic, but after the last mission, Agent Coulson gave me nothing. Hey, get your bird down!"
Salomon didn't readily believe Nick Fury's lies; who knew if the agent was telling the truth? He stepped forward, pressed his wand against Nick Fury's temple, and used a trick called "Mind Coding." A wisp of tangled, glowing energy, like wisps of smoke, was then extracted—this spell could extract a memory, a thought, or a message from the recipient's mind, which the caster could repeatedly read. Using this spell was far more accurate than directly detecting thoughts, especially since Salomon had specifically mentioned Coulson and the previous mission. Nick Fury would only quickly recall things about Coulson and the last mission, and this memory would be precisely what Salomon captured.
"Monther F*uck!" Nick Fury tried to struggle, but Phoenix's hard beak remained in front of his only remaining eye, as if it were about to peck that eye out at the slightest provocation.
The sorcerer waved his hand, signaling Phoenix to set Nick Fury down. The man's face had darkened after Salomon extracted a memory, seemingly extremely dissatisfied with the sorcerer's actions, but unable to resist, he could only express his displeasure through his expression. "You can choose to tell me yourself, or I'll continue searching," the sorcerer said, taking out a test tube and placing the memory inside. He continued, "I don't know what you know, so I'll search repeatedly until I find the memory I need. I know what kind of person you are; it's highly unusual that you let this go so easily."
"I was just taking your advice, Salomon," Nick Fury said, displeased. "You've repeatedly explained the dangers of magic, and I've witnessed them firsthand. I know professional matters should be handled by professionals. I'm not a senator! Or some cabinet minister!"
"Really? But in my eyes, you rarely listen to advice." Salomon curled his lip in disdain. "When did you become so reasonable?"
“I’ve always been like this,” Nick Fury raised his voice. “Hey, don’t you have even the slightest bit of trust in me, Salomon Damonette!”
"Hmm, I changed my name. Now I'm Salomon Messiah Damonette Pendragon. Or Salomon Messiah Pendragon Damonette is fine too. I haven't thought about changing my last name yet."
"Oh ho, are you King Arthur now? You've gone from Jew to Celt?" Nick Fury's breathing was much heavier; he was clearly furious. "I don't care about your long, stinky name right now. I just want to know what exactly happened in Salem! Do you know what Agent Coulson said? Traveling through three hundred years! Agent Romanoff said the same thing! If I hadn't confirmed they hadn't gone mad, do you think I would have let you off so easily?"
"So what exactly do you know?" Salomon sat down again, holding Phoenix in his arms. The big bird seemed to enjoy being held in his arms, its forehead constantly burrowing into his chest. Salomon couldn't tell if it was a bird or a cat.
"Nothing at all!" Nick Fury yelled. "Only three hundred years! The Fiend!"
"If your office weren't so soundproof, people would think you're crazy too." Salomon waved his hand. "Traveling through three hundred years is a fact, but it's not really Salem three hundred years ago; it's a segment of time that was captured."
"Who did this? Where is he now?" Nick Fury seemed to have calmed down as well. He let out a long breath and sat back down in his chair. "Agents Coulson and Romanoff know far too little. This is magic; you Kamar-Taj should know that."
"Randolph Carter isn't human, or perhaps he was once human, only to have ascended to a higher realm." The arcane mage glanced at the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. through his golden-red feathers. "Your agents definitely told you that name, so stop trying to play dumb. Randolph Carter has already left this universe with Abigail Williams."
Where did they go?
"The ultimate abyss of another universe."
"Is it related to the silver key around your neck?"
"This is none of your business." Salomon narrowed his eyes. Nick Fury truly lived up to his reputation as the king of spies; he could connect the dots even with the slightest difference.
"Also, I've recently seen Kamar-Taj sorcerers appearing in Africa and Canada..."
"Oh, oh, stop your curiosity. That's our business, and don't even think about getting anything out of those places," Salomon said. "Anyone who has read the unedited books about evil gods and magic books, besides me and the Sorcerer Supreme, has only one path: madness—and I will save that person. Even if you've read those books, I will save you; even Captain America can't stop me."
"You found out?"
"I already knew."
I'll update as soon as I finish making cat food.
I gave up. The shrimp couldn't understand my sarcastic remarks at all. I felt like my literary skills had been destroyed.
