Chapter 1582 The Lunar War

Chapter 1582 The Lunar War (Ninety-Four)

The intelligent war machine possessed unparalleled firepower and mechanical strength, and Aparisha was pleased that Commander Malcolm had been able to conceive of the type of support he needed in such a short time. He and the soldiers of the First Company were capable of dealing with all the extradimensional spiritual entities in this residential area, but the ruins of the buildings destroyed by artillery support had wasted a considerable amount of time, and at the current rate and frequency of attacks, their ammunition reserves might not reach the minimum standard by the time they carried out the final phase of the mission.

"I expect you to have brought enough ammunition and batteries as agreed."

"I guarantee that I will transport supplies according to the logistics routes set by the command."

The Mars technician wore a shy expression. His eyes had been upgraded to more powerful electronic eyes, allowing him to process large amounts of information in a short time, though their fluorescent green color made it impossible to guess his true thoughts.

"The safety level of the logistics route is only 43.7%, far below the standard for safe transport. Even if I deploy intelligent mech squads to patrol the route, based on the current enemy-to-friendly ratio, there is a 79.9% chance of encountering large groups of enemies, delaying the delivery of ammunition and supplies, with a transport error within 5 standard minutes..."

Before he could speak, Aparisha boarded the tracked armored personnel carrier without looking back. He was satisfied with the Martian technicians' answer; after all, they had carried a large amount of ammunition before setting off. If the road ahead remained clear, this heavy armored company would be strong enough to penetrate heavily defended non-key targets, and a five-minute margin of error wasn't particularly unacceptable.

"...The command has dispatched a detachment of safari cavalry for me, and I am waiting for them to take their positions."

Upon seeing Aparishia leave, the Mars technicians raised their voices in a panic.

He quickly directed the AI-controlled mechs to the front of the convoy. One of the fortress-type AI-controlled mechs, which had been unable to join the battle and was responsible for protecting him, raised its Siege-2 explosive cannon, whose caliber was much larger than a heavy explosive machine gun, and aimed it at the crumbling buildings ahead. Some of the ruins were products of this Siege-2 explosive cannon; after all, its purpose was to destroy fortifications, and the claws mounted on these AI-controlled mechs could easily dismantle thick concrete. This was an AI-controlled mech specifically assigned to him for his mission—the Martian Mechanical Foundry, as one of the Emperor's research bases, undoubtedly wanted to gain sufficient benefits from this war, and the Emperor was not stingy in sharing the Inhumans' knowledge and technology with Mars—in return, Mars would assume part of the responsibility for the war and completely hand over command to the Emperor. Although Mars and Earth had little communication during the time they were trapped in the time bubble, the current rulers of Mars remained loyal to the Emperor, and this relationship was maintained.

"Once they reach the D-2 line, I can get to work!" Chromium-606 shouted. "I assure you, we Martians are the most punctual people!"

The Chimilian clan's settlement was engulfed in flames, and columns of black smoke rising from various ignition points were sucked out by the overpressure created by the gaps in the steel dome. Black Bolt, wearing his royal oxygen mask covered with ornate embossed copper plates, silently watched the scene before him. The air pressure here was gradually decreasing; the automatic repair system of this section of the steel dome was failing. The removal of partitions to expand the living area had resulted in extremely poor airtightness in the upper levels of Citadel Attilan.

Faced with the current situation, Black Bolt is helpless.

He could only watch as the human army built even stronger fortifications around the Chimilian clan's outskirts and bombarded the city with even more intense artillery fire. He saw the sorcerer entities that had once appeared in other clan settlements emerging from every corner, especially the wizard's spire at the center of the Chimilian clan, as if the tower was crammed full of monsters, and the doors finally gave way under the pressure, forcing them out. These crazed, deformed, and vile creatures, accompanied by howling, ferocious beasts, wantonly hunted down the survivors of the Chimilian clan in the streets, only to be met with mortar fire upon being spotted by the mortal army's reconnaissance drones. However, they didn't care at all. They wantonly devoured every part of the survivors of the Chimilian clan. They used knives, claws, pliers, and all sorts of tools that normal people couldn't imagine to vent the most terrifying, vile, and disgusting desires in the world on those survivors. They didn't even care whether those survivors were intact or still alive. They turned a deaf ear to the screams and pleas, as if the victims' cries of agony gave them more satisfaction.

"The IFF system has detected a shape matching the description? Confirm again!"

"Commissar Sofia, the reconnaissance drone has confirmed that the figure is very likely Black Bolt. IFF code..."

"Understood." Sophia hung up the phone. She pressed her fingerprint and dialed another person's number on the command chain. "Black Bolt Blackcard Burt has just moved to the Chimerian Clan. Intelligence level: Crimson, awaiting instructions from command... Received. E-4 will not attack Black Bolt for the time being. Received. We will continue to monitor him."

"Fire! Don't let them get close!"

As Tita spoke, she returned fire with her rifle, and the other members of the Sisterhood followed suit, adhering to tactical protocols. Two armored vehicles, originally intended for terminal air defense, stopped near the fortifications, furiously unleashing machine gun shells. These large-caliber machine gun shells, capable of tearing open the top armor of tanks, proved as expected against the surging tide of extradimensional spiritual entities. Even though these monsters weren't particularly vulnerable to physical damage, the barrage of high-speed shells still managed to disintegrate their forms, driving these relatively weak monsters back into their own dimension.

An anti-personnel mine was triggered. The directional shrapnel and steel balls kicked up by the explosive smoke made Tita squint, but her shooting remained incredibly accurate. An extradimensional psychic entity bursting out of the smoke was blasted to pieces by her explosives. The monster following closely behind, stepping over the corpses of its kind, lunged at her, only to be blasted back by a burst of fire before it could even touch the blade of Tita's drawn sword. Aura, wielding a heavy explosive machine gun, emerged from behind her, accompanied by members of an assault squad. Tita rolled her eyes at Aura, but she was too embarrassed to tell her that she actually wanted to use the sword.

Protecting the logistics base was such a boring task that only close-quarters combat could make her happy.

"I don't think these reinforcements are enough to handle the upcoming battle," Aura said worriedly. "This is the fourth attack already, and these monsters will attack again before the mines are even laid. How many of them are there?"

“Think of the Battle of Fimbulb, the enemies we face are endless,” Tita said. “But there’s some good news, though. The arcane mages of Kamar-Taj are calculating the exact location of the portal. The Royal Guard has instructed us to be prepared, and once the portal’s location is confirmed, we will launch a teleportation strike alongside His Majesty, regardless of whether the perpetrators who summoned these monsters have been killed.”
