Chapter 292 New Orders
Chapter 292 New Order (First Update! Trying to Slack Off!)
After kicking Nick Fury out, Salomon instructed the homunculus and the Cheshire Cat to clean the house while they were looking after it, and then he took a stainless steel pot and went into the portal. He planned to bring food to Bayonetta and Jeanne d'Arc. Although witches could survive without food, the sorcerer still wanted to use this excuse to spend time with Bayonetta.
"Good afternoon, Rodin." The sorcerer placed the stew pot on the bar without any ceremony, eliciting a roll of the eyes from the fallen angel craftsman. Though hidden behind sunglasses, no one could see it. "Don't be angry," Salomon said. "Anyway, not many people come to this bar, and stewed beef won't ruin the atmosphere. If possible, could I have a martini? I'm of legal drinking age now."
"The legal drinking age is twenty-one. Don't think I don't know your age, kid. Coke or milk?" Rodin leaned closer, sniffing Salomon's scent. "Sulfur. What trouble have you gotten yourself into lately? I heard there was some chaos in Hell recently. Was that your doing?"
"Are you referring to the armed parade at Kamar-Taj or my fight with Marduk?" Salomon grabbed his Coke and took a big gulp. Iced carbonated drinks were his favorite, especially the sugary kind. He put down the glass and let out a satisfied burp. "Mephisto and Marduk were scheming against each other, and I got dragged into it too. Don't worry, not all Demon Pillars are rebellious; at least Phoenix is quite lovable."
"There aren't many Demon Pillars hoping for the Seventh Throne's reincarnation, so you'd better be careful. There's a connection between the first-ranked Baal and the tenth-ranked Pal; be careful." Rodan adjusted his sunglasses. "I don't want to see witches overturn Hell; that would severely impact my raw material supply. You should know my clients aren't just witches, right?"
"So I have another purpose for coming here, Rodin. I need guns, lots and lots of guns—no, not the ones you're hanging on your back. I need guns that have both powerful kinetic energy and drag, that's right, I need rocket-propelled guns, as many as I want! No recoil issues, not the MBA Gyrojet kind. I'll take my army to hell, don't worry about your raw material supply, I'll take care of that."
"When do you want it?" The fallen angel craftsman raised his eyebrows with interest.
"As soon as possible, I need at least one prototype to test."
"Boya, when did you learn to go to bars?" As Salomon finished his cola, the witches entered the bar, looking quite relaxed; their work hunting angels seemed to have no effect on them. Bayonetta sat down next to Salomon, raising her legs and placing them on the sorceress's lap. This time, she had chosen black stockings with a subtle pattern, which the witch deliberately let rub against Salomon's thighs.
Salomon felt the witch's body temperature and the unimaginable friction stimulation, which made his breathing become heavier.
"You look like a mature man now!" Bayonetta was quite pleased with Salomon's reaction. "Would you like me to teach you some things that little kids shouldn't learn? I'd love to hear it!"
"Cereza!" Joan of Arc grumbled as usual, but that didn't stop her from sitting down in the chair next to Salomon. "The angels have been descending on us so often lately, it's endless, and some really big ones have even appeared," she said. "You Kamar-Taj have been dumping all that work on us again, and Cereza and I have been so busy we haven't had time to sleep. I didn't expect you to come so late, Salomon! Do you have any idea how hard we've been working?"
"To earn money to support the family, this is a special treat His Holiness has given us. After all, I can't draw endlessly from Kamar-Taj's worldly wealth right now." Salomon feigned composure, snapping his fingers. The stew in the stainless steel pot, which had gone cold, became piping hot again, and the aroma of beef wafted from the cracks in the lid. "So I brought compensation." He forced a smile. "A rare delicacy, stewed beef. You really should get some rest. I've had Dinah air out the blankets; you can fall asleep tonight to the scent of sunshine."
"And yours too, isn't it?" Bayonetta licked her lips, prompting another round of complaints from Joan of Arc.
"Are you serious, Coulson? Six days? You turned a completely refurbished, state-of-the-art aircraft into a pile of junk in just six days!" Agent Coulson stood ramrod straight, accepting the reprimand from his superior. Prior to this, his negligence had allowed Reyes, a Peruvian government agent he had previously worked with, to board the plane, leading to the hijacking of the Airbus by these government forces.
However, the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents successfully subdued the Peruvian government agents using Item 084, a Hydra weapon related to the Tesseract, which they had acquired during the mission. However, they paid a heavy price: a large hole was blown in the Airbus's passenger cabin, forcing them to proceed at a snail's pace to prevent their makeshift remedial measures (blocking the hole with inflatable lifeboats) from failing.
"I've seen the maintenance logs. This plane has been repaired before, even the engine was replaced," Coulson thought. But instead of complaining, he tried to defend his teammate, which only angered Nick Fury more. "Don't talk to me about authorization. Do you know how much this plane is worth? There's even a bar here! A very nice bar!" Nick Fury paced angrily. "Don't talk to me about authorization, I have the right to demote you to negative rank!"
"I know, sir." Agent Coulson stopped arguing.
"I want you to fix this plane, just like when you first got it! So, don't let Fitz and Simmons modify it, like putting a broken fish tank on it or something." Nick Fury finished his outburst and turned to the newcomers in Coulson's team, his mood shifting rapidly. "And that new girl, Skye, she's a risk factor."
"I understand, sir."
"You knew?" He glared at Coulson, grumbling as he turned to leave. But before disembarking, he stopped and asked Agent Coulson, "Where did you go before you set off on this mission, Agent Coulson?"
"New York, just passing through, had lunch," Agent Coulson replied. Nick Fury carefully observed Agent Coulson's facial expression but detected nothing amiss.
"Do you remember what we ate? It's been a long time since I last went to New York."
"The Brazilian barbecue on West 53rd Street in Manhattan, sir. I recommend you try it too."
"Very good, I'll go." Nick Fury stood in front of Agent Coulson and sniffed the air. Aside from the smell of gunpowder and Peruvian dust, he couldn't smell anything else. Oh, and the air freshener in the cabin too, but there was no smell of cooking oil. Nick Fury mentally raised Salomon's danger level another notch. The mind-manipulation magic the arcane mage was currently displaying was too terrifying; he had to make contingency plans.
"How is Tahiti?"
"That's a magical place. I'm ready to go to New York for my next mission, sir, that's an old friend of ours."
Nick Fury nodded and walked off the plane without saying a word.
Stop rushing me, I'm trying my best to slack off! And could you please give me a recommendation vote?
