Chapter 334 The Dance of Blood

Chapter 334 The Bloody Dance (First Update)

Anduin was a large, robust boy, like the big boys in every school, with a ruddy complexion and a broad chest. But unlike them, he was quiet, shy, and even a little bashful.

Although the boys in his grade were afraid of this big guy, those names given to him were merely labels he had earned in self-defense. He tried playing quiet and cute games with strangers his own age, but a sheep doll and a primary school boy whose clothes were almost the same size as his father's seemed out of place.

This was precisely why a few mischievous boys would provoke him—John Marble's mother drank heavily while pregnant with him, and it was said that John Marble could stab people just four days after his birth; he was the undisputed bad seed in the small town of Culham, south of Oxford. Anduin's aunt said that the bad seed would one day end up in jail, just as bad as his jailed father—they threw away Anduin's sheep doll, so Anduin broke his finger, just like he would accidentally break a pencil.

Anduin was six years old at that time.

However, some of his peers were not afraid, and they formed a small group.

Take Newton, for example. He was a short boy who wore glasses (round, without prescription), and his mother always believed he would become a great scientist. However, Newton's scientific talent wasn't as obvious as the freckles on his face. Once, while conducting an "experiment"—which his mother believed was beneficial for brain development—he caused a major power outage in the town. Newton's mother was overjoyed, believing it to be a testament to her son's talent.

There was another girl named Dani, Dani with a full head of red hair. That's what they called her; her full name was Daenerys Hermione Lúthion. She got her name from a room full of novels; her mother was an avid fantasy novel reader. Girls with this name usually have two choices, and Daenerys Hermione Lúthion chose the second.

When Anduin and Newton met her on their first day of school, they asked her name, and she innocently told them.

So the school security guards used several buckets of cold water to separate Daenerys Baratheon Stark's teeth from Anduin's fingers, and Newton's first pair of glasses shattered. From then on, they often hung out together, either strolling through the winding streets of the town of Culham or meeting and chatting at their secret hideout in the woods.

They became bad apples, the kind who were born to be hanged, because they talked about God loudly, broke water pipes, and chased rats.

"Listen to me!" Dani said arrogantly, hands on her hips and chest puffed out.

As Dani did this, the other two boys, sitting on the worn-out car tires, lowered their heads. They were eleven years old, and Dani was developing much faster than Newton. The two boys knew that boys and girls were somewhat different, and they knew that their hearts would race when they touched Dani, which troubled them greatly.

But Dani didn't care about that. She didn't care about girlish modesty when she was fighting. When fighting John Marble's bastards, she was always at the forefront. Her white teeth were her most terrifying weapon. She once bit John Marble so hard that he cried.

"Listen to me!" Dani repeated, "My mother has declared that magic exists! Myths are real!"

"There's no magic in this world, Dani. The magazine said Thor is an alien, and they use high technology," Newton said. Anduin nodded in agreement.

Thor made the UFO topic suddenly boring, and no one claimed to have seen a UFO anymore.

As everyone knows, Asgard sits on the Rainbow Bridge; that's what magazines say.

"Just like Stark, but Thor is even more powerful," Anduin said. "My aunt says that all the women who subscribe to the Daily Psychic believe they're mediums, or were Elizabeth I or Bloody Mary in a past life. They eat organic vegetables, drink organic milk, and even keep organic frogs!"

"Bullshit! There are no organic frogs in this world, at least I haven't seen any!" Dani grinned, her pearly white teeth reflecting the sunlight. "But have you forgotten that knight from New York? The magazines called him the Silver Knight, and my mother collected a lot of his photos (actually just blurry video screenshots, because the shots were taken from too far away, and Salomon's face is still blurry in them)—she said the Silver Knight is actually King Arthur! He's back to save the world! Don't tell me you haven't heard what the Silver Knight shouted!"

"But that's in America, not in England... We still have the Queen." Anduin wanted to argue, but under Dani's increasingly stern gaze, his voice and patriotism grew weaker and weaker.

"Besides," Dani coughed dramatically, "according to my mother's research, Hogwarts won't send us owls! She says only King Arthur is real, so Merlin is real too! She's even planning to go to New York to find the Silver Knight!" Dani said this with a proud expression, "and she's also planning to send me to learn magic!"

The once clear sky was now filled with thunder, and Anduin nearly jumped off the tire. He looked up, then gaped in astonishment, quickly patting Newton, who was sitting beside him. The boy with glasses also looked up and immediately stood up. Dani was quite annoyed because her companion hadn't listened to her and was only pointing at the sky.

Magic arrived in an unexpected way.

A dazzling white beam of light, as brilliant as a shooting star, streaked down from the sky. The light drew ever closer, its destination the three children's secret hideout. Terrified by the sight before them, they froze, but Anduin reacted quickly, pulling the boy and girl away from the area.

"There's someone there." After running a safe distance, the thing crashed to the ground with a loud thud, causing the three children to cover their ears and their eyes to be blinded by the gust of wind. "At least one. I saw it, a big guy in black armor," Newton said. "He must have hit a tire. Hopefully, the poor thing survives."

"He must have fallen really hard!" Dani exclaimed excitedly, a sudden thought striking her. "Maybe he needs help! Just like in superhero comics, a superhero falls from the sky, gets injured, and needs some local kids to help him!"

"I don't think that's a good idea. We should go find an adult or notify the community police..."

Dani, however, ignored Anduin's steady advice and ran off excitedly, Newton close behind. Reluctantly, Anduin followed. But what they witnessed wasn't the cliché "superhero in distress" tale, but a bloody scene that would make them scream.

They saw a man in a red robe holding a long sword, slashing at the falling black giant—who was definitely not human, as he was wearing clothes made of skeletons, and the fall from the sky did not seem to bother him at all.

The large black figure was incredibly fast, waving its arms like swatting a fly, creating a whooshing sound. The man in red, who looked human—at least outwardly—danced around the black figure, his movements astonishingly swift, each sword strike drawing out a drop of dark red blood.

Ferocity, bloodshed, and frenzy—these were the first impressions this brutal close-quarters combat left on the three children, who were too terrified to move.

Salomon paid no attention to the others present; his focus was solely on the cursed warrior. Thor had taught him a lesson in the training grounds: when facing a humanoid creature of such immense strength, Salomon would never allow himself to become static. He shifted his feet, slipping under the cursed warrior's arm, his horizontal longsword drawing sparks as it sliced through the warrior's waist armor.

Without checking his gains, he immediately turned around, circled to the other side, and attacked the cursed warrior's head with his longsword.

He tried to repel the cursed warrior with magic, but the cursed warrior was too fast, and he didn't have a chance to use much magic at all—the fireball spell worked well, blasting the cursed warrior out of the room; the second-circle spell, the battering ram, was also very effective, successfully creating distance when the cursed warrior got close; and the grease spell was incredibly useful, successfully knocking the cursed warrior down.

Then he had no choice but to pick up his longsword to deal with it.

If only I had a human shield! He thought to himself. Damn it, where did Thor go again? He clearly threw Thor and the Cursed Warrior onto the Rainbow Bridge together, where is he now? What's happening to Asgard? Has the Aether been stolen? Damn it! I knew it all along, I knew about the power of fate's correction! It will definitely not let me get away with this!

If someone had a keen eye, they would have noticed that the small leather pouch on Salomon's belt had a large tear in it, and the expensive magical pouch was now empty and worthless.

Please vote for me!

I've hidden a reference to an old book; I wonder if anyone has noticed.
