Chapter 355 Gentlemanly Spirit
Chapter 355 Gentlemanly Spirit (Second Update)
The charred steel, collapsed buildings, and unrecognizable corpses clad in gold and black armor—for a human who had never witnessed or experienced war, this scene was nothing short of hell. Jane Foster and Darcy, carrying the instruments Eric had made, trudged through the ruins. Their mission was to plug these instruments into the target point and activate them to counteract the numerous teleportation portals scattered throughout Greenwich University.
However, they had to stop and vomit every few steps, as the stench of burning flesh and decay filled their path. This passage was the main battlefield for Asgardian warriors, dark elves, and the remaining S.H.I.E.L.D. teams. Although they weren't seeing any battles now, the traces of combat and the corpses left behind wouldn't disappear. Darcy's nose stung, and the vomiting blurred her vision with tears. She could only be pulled along by Jane Foster, step by step, towards the designated location. She kept slipping on the spent cartridge cases under her feet.
If it weren't for Jane Foster's encouragement, Darcy might be sitting in the roadside ruins crying like a baby right now. "Damn S.H.I.E.L.D.! Damn Erik!" Even though she was constantly hiccuping from vomiting, Darcy kept cursing S.H.I.E.L.D. and her unreliable mentor's mentor.
Before she could finish venting her pent-up emotions, a loud explosion erupted beside her, and Thor and Malekith, entangled together, fell into the building next to her. Darcy screamed, and then the two tumbled down the steps, crashing into the wall and disappearing from sight.
"They..." Darcy stammered, pointing to the spot where they disappeared, "The detector Eric gave us didn't detect this portal, did it?"
"The gravitational disturbance is getting stronger; the gravity detector might not work anymore. Be careful." Jane Foster pushed the long instrument forward, trying to find the undiscovered portal. However, she poked at something invisible and hard. Jane Foster, a Nobel Prize-nominated physicist, was a stubborn person; she instinctively poked it harder, and a dark-haired woman in armor fell from the sky.
"Are you Jane Foster?" Sif asked breathlessly, clutching the gap in her armor where she had been poked. "Have you seen Thor?"
Sif pointed two fingers to the spot where Thor had disappeared, thanked him, and rushed there. She had traversed several worlds, including some smaller kingdoms, through a series of incredibly coincidental portals, but she had found no trace of Thor there. She had to fight alongside Thor; it was her duty as his betrothed.
However, instead of passing through the portal, she crashed heavily into the wall. "Perhaps you could come with us; we're on our way to eliminate the disordered gravity," Jane Foster said to Sif, who was clutching her red nose. "The portals can appear and disappear at any time now, and you can easily get lost. You won't find him like this."
Darcy tugged hard at Jane Foster's sleeve, but she ignored her intern's protest.
"Okay," Sif said in a muffled voice, covering her nose.

"Shit! You woman! Did you do this on purpose?" Salomon felt the stitched wound was hurting even more. Skye was holding a skin-stabbing machine commonly used in the hospital's emergency department. She had previously stabbed Salomon's abdominal wound a few times to prevent it from reopening. However, her movements were rather rough, and the stitches were irregular, causing Salomon to suffer many unnecessary stitches.
Fortunately, biologist Simmons from the science team saved the day; otherwise, the wound might never have healed.
"I'm older than you, kid," the SHIELD intern agent said smugly. "And you tampered with my memories, so this is justified revenge! Even though you have magic, abs, and a pec, I won't forgive you! Simmons knows about this, which is why she didn't give you painkillers!"
"Alright, Coulson, deploy me to the battlefield." Salomon skipped over the topic. Casting enchantments on unsuspecting people was always a despicable act, and the arcane mage shamefully refused to face the person involved. After receiving the order, Agent Coulson handed Salomon several devices that looked similar to those made by Eric.
"This is Fitz's work. He expanded upon Dr. Eric Scharvig's design by increasing the area of effect," Coulson said, pointing to the devices placed in different locations on the airbus. "This thing can continuously counteract turbulent gravity; otherwise, the airbus would likely disintegrate. Fitz wants you to wear this; as long as you activate it, you won't fall into the invisible portal during descent. In fact, Fitz would have preferred this device installed on your armor, but the drill couldn't penetrate it..."
"Well, I really have to thank him then." Salomon rolled his eyes. Luckily, his armor wasn't ordinary, otherwise the little monkeys in the science group would have modified it into who-knows-what shape long ago.
"Also, the device you're using runs on batteries, so it won't last very long," Coulson cautioned. "Fitz has more batteries if you need them."
"I hope I won't need it."
Salomon donned his armor again, carrying the instrument, which weighed about the same as four bricks, and walked towards the cargo hold. The dragon wing thrusters activated again, and Salomon jumped out of the cargo hold, flying straight into the courtyard lawn of the University of Greenwich—this place used to be a meadow, until Salomon blew up the engines of the dark elf ship, and now only the charcoal ash that was once called meadow remained.
"Master!" The homunculus already knew about Salomon's return to Earth; it was a special connection between the creator and Homunculus. The arcane mage had specifically instructed her to wait here. "I killed many dark elves." The homunculus's personality had grown stronger since her creation; for example, right now, she was holding a greatsword and a dark elf's arm, speaking to Salomon with a restrained sense of boastfulness.
The arm was still dripping blood, indicating it had been severed not long ago. As for the arm's owner, Salomon had no doubt after seeing the still-smoking boltgun. Ordinary dark elf soldiers weren't cursed warriors; the boltgun was enough to blast them in two. The pile of mangled flesh nearby was probably the work of the homunculus.
"What should we do next, Master?"
"We're heading to the designated location," Salomon waved to the androids behind him. Jane Foster and Darcy came running up, panting, while Sif walked ahead of them, carrying a bunch of heavy-looking instruments without breaking a sweat. However, her nose was inexplicably a little red.
"Help them secure those detection instruments to prevent sudden gravitational disturbances," the sorcerer said. "Then we can control Malekith."
"What should we do, Master?"
"You don't need to do anything." Salomon stomped on the charcoal-covered grass. "In a little while, Malekith will pop up on his own."
"Like that whack-a-mole game?"
"Aren't you coming over to help!" Jane Foster ordered Salomon with an air of entitlement. "Do you, as a gentleman, intend to watch the lady do the work alone? Come on over, or your project will be ruined!"
