Chapter 409 A Bewitching Woman Who Brings Disaster to the Country

Chapter 409 A Bewitching Woman Who Brings Disaster to the Country (Second Update)

"Simmons, you're right. He showed up, and he looked like a complete jerk." Fitz covered his face and sighed deeply. "What kind of legal jargon is he spouting? Good heavens! He's lecturing an alien on the law. Does American law even cover aliens?"

Even facing the muzzles of several assault rifles, Salomon's fingertips calmly traced the runes on the parchment, patiently explaining its contents to the female warrior standing before him. Agent Melinda May tried to interrupt him, but Salomon's adherence to the rules prevented him from leaving. He also stopped the androids from firing explosives into the team to avoid unnecessary casualties.

"See?" he said to the impatient Sif. "Asgard didn't sign the cross-border enforcement guidelines after requesting the investigation. Sif, you have to sign it and submit it to Heimdall, then Heimdall signs it and submits it to any one of the Three Temples. Only after obtaining a receipt from the Temple Guardians can you begin your operation."

"Give it to me now!" Sif impatiently snatched the parchment and signed several names without even looking at it.

"This isn't over yet, Sif." Salomon put away the parchment and coughed a few times in a mock manner.

"We'll talk about it later." Sif rolled her eyes. She hated paperwork more than anything, and Salomon happened to be one of the best at doing it.

Salomon, Sif, and the android were all put into a S.H.I.E.L.D. vehicle, with Melinda May personally driving and monitoring them. Sif was very curious about the android's armor; she had never seen such heavy equipment before, and Melinda May felt the same way, believing it was some kind of stunt by Salomon. She glanced at the arcane mage in the passenger seat, "What do you know about this?"

"Not much, only what Asgard is willing to tell you," Salomon sighed. "Several male arcane mages of Kamar-Taj were seduced; the fugitive's charm spells breached their mental defenses."

"Then why did you come?" Sif asked. "Men shouldn't be involved in this."

"I'm no ordinary arcane mage, don't forget that," Salomon rolled his eyes. Meanwhile, the mage Daniel of the New York Temple was busy leading a search party across the Nine Realms. This old fellow's negligence had led to the disappearance of the arcane mages, and the Venerable One would certainly reprimand him. His role as temple guardian was over!

Melinda May kept this information to herself.

"What kind of dark magic is this!" Sif exclaimed in surprise when she saw Agent Coulson on the airbus, reaching for the longsword she was carrying on her back. "Thor said you died at Loki's hands."

"He wasn't wrong, he was dead for a while." Agent Coulson had no intention of explaining the complicated reasons to the Asgardians. He glanced at Salomon and the other androids lingering in the cargo hold. "But Loki isn't the only one with special abilities; S.H.I.E.L.D. has its own."

"Saul would be happy to hear you're alive; he considers you a friend."

"Me too, so if possible, I'd like to tell him myself." Coulson didn't want to dwell on the matter any longer. "I heard you're looking for someone?"

"I'm hunting her down, Lorelei. Six hundred years ago, she used her powers to wreak havoc on the Nine Kingdoms. She commanded armies and overthrew kingdoms and monarchs."

"What kind of ability is this?" Agent Grant Ward, arms crossed, asked dismissively. "Strength? Or speed?"

"It's sorcery," Sif answered solemnly, leaving the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents speechless. "She twists men's wills to achieve her own ends."

"Only men?" Melinda May asked. "Her sorcery doesn't work on women?"

"Yes, men have inherent weaknesses, women don't." Sif glanced at Salomon, who was slowly walking in, and although she was reluctant, she still gave Salomon a completely unnecessary Asgardian greeting.

Salomon's record is worthy of respect.

"Only a very few men can resist her voice. To those men who can resist temptation, she uses her voice and touch. This is enough to destroy a man's willpower; even a wizard cannot resist her power."

"Don't look at me like that. The planetary defense system only detected one person," Salomon shrugged. He had the android remove its helmet, revealing a meticulously sculpted face and short, pearly white hair. "This is my maid. If Lorelei breaks through the protective spell, my maid will kill her."

"A maid?" Fitz clicked his tongue. The android remained silent, her attention solely focused on Salomon.

"Don't be surprised, I even took her to Coulson's funeral."

"So how do we stop her?" Agent Coulson asked.

Sif showed everyone the necklace she had brought. Forged from Uru metal, it possessed magical immunity. Once Lorelei put it on, she would be unable to speak—this was the very thing Lorelei had worn in prison, and she wouldn't have been able to remove it so easily if the cursed warrior hadn't broken through the dungeon's defenses.

“She used natural portals, called Yggdrasil Roots. The exact number is uncertain, but they are extremely well-hidden and very difficult to pass through,” Salomon continued, picking up where Sif left off. “But we weren’t unprepared.”

Do you know where she is now?

"The Rainbow Bridge only took me to where she last appeared," Sif said. "But she'll soon be seducing men to do things for her."

"We're not unprepared." The arcane mage showed the SHIELD agents his explosive pistol, then tentatively fired a shot outside the cargo hold. The deafening gunshot rang out, and everyone covered their ears. When the dust settled, a large crater, as if ravaged by a small grenade, was revealed on the concrete ground where the plane was parked.

"I think that's enough for the Asgardians," he said. "Even Thor can only handle a .50 caliber explosive rifle."

"You've tested it?" Fitz leaned closer as soon as his hearing returned. Although he wasn't satisfied with the gun's design, he thought its power was comparable to some machine guns. This was a weapon designed to deal with aliens. Fitz quickly glanced at Sif's face. "How's the recoil?"

"A comminuted fracture for an ordinary person." Salomon lifted the bomb gun with one hand and placed it in Fitz's arms, then watched as the physicist from the science team stumbled. He retrieved the bomb gun before Fitz was crushed by it.

"This is a real behemoth," Agent Grant Ward remarked, involuntarily moving closer. Aside from Fitz's dislike of the angular, industrial design of the past, this gun was every man's dream gun. Big, thick, capable of firing, and loud—men would flock to it like moths to a flame in the night, Salomon no different from a child showing off a new toy to his kindergarten classmates.

"Boys, it's time to hear mission intelligence." Simmons rolled his eyes, promptly interrupting the small gathering of all the men on the plane except Coulson.

"So, we won't be facing mages this time?" Melinda May asked.

"I'm not sure either," Salomon said, snapping out of his reverie. "The Temple Guardians haven't found all the missing male mages yet. He said he'd call me when they've all been found. By the way, where's Skye? Is she still in solitary confinement?"

"She..." Simmons glanced at Agent Coulson, and only after receiving permission did she finish her long syllable, "She's injured, badly injured. But it's alright, she's out of danger."

"We hope you can help with this," Agent Coulson said. "Use your magic to help her and check if she's healthy."
