Chapter 410 Loyal Warrior

Chapter 410 A Loyal Warrior (First Update)

Skye stared intently at Salomon's hand, as it was about to press against her stomach. Fitz and Simmons stood nearby, eager to test their spectrometer. "Just so you know, I'm ticklish," the tanned hacker muttered, her face pale, annoyed, and shy. "As long as you let me off the wheelchair, and you can't have any scars."

"You've got a lot of demands." Salomon rolled his eyes, then placed his hand on Skye's face, pinning her to the wheelchair like he was holding down a mischievous cat's head. But Skye thought this action reminded her of the Baptist rituals, where priests would push people into the pool like that—Baptist ceremonies are followed by a meal, don't ask her how she knew, everyone has times when they don't get to eat.

She was hungry again. Since being shot, she could only eat liquid food and receive intravenous drips. The burning sensation in her stomach was the most terrible torture in the world. She had to take magnesium tablets to neutralize the stomach acid, but the feeling of hunger still tormented her repeatedly.

"We're very concerned that the side effects of GH325 might have some short-term or long-term impact on her," Simmons explained, holding her tablet. She glanced at the android maid standing beside Salomon in her armor and suddenly realized she had been too blunt. GH325 shouldn't have been mentioned; it was a secret of Coulson's team.

"We need to analyze your magical spectrum and then conduct a physical examination on Skye to observe changes in her body before and after the spell," Fitz quickly interjected, trying to make Salomon believe that GH325 was some new, untested drug from S.H.I.E.L.D. "If possible, I plan to mimic your magical radiation to create similar effects. You should know that your magic can save many people, right? If possible, I... I wouldn't mind learning it. I'm not denying science; I just want to conduct research from another perspective."

"Fitz! That's a great idea!" Simmons jumped up with delight. "Oh! But I wonder if Coulson will allow it..."

"We have to do this behind Coulson's back," Fitz said confidently. "He definitely won't find out. We still have some runestones left from last time; we can ask him to make some more for us."

"Ah!" A scream drew the science team's attention back. Fed up with the nonsense, Salomon unhesitatingly pulled back Skye's thin grey wool sweater, revealing her abdomen, tightly wrapped in two bandages. The sorcerer arrogantly poked at the bandages, and Skye, stung by the poking, glared angrily at Salomon. If it weren't for the laptop Salomon had given her as compensation, she would have smashed it over his head.

She was now like a puffed-up pufferfish lying on the bed, making a guttural sound whenever Salomon's fingers poked her. "Hurry up!" she said, puffing out her cheeks, "or I'm getting out of bed!"

"You're so cute, Skye." Simmons stroked Skye's long hair, a satisfied expression on his face.

Salomon, having torn off the gauze, unhesitatingly placed his sterilized hand over Skye's gunshot wound in the abdomen. After removing his hand and wiping away the blood with the gauze, there was no longer any sign of the injury on Skye's abdomen.

"Jesus!" Fitz quickly reached out and poked the spot where there should have been a wound. "No, I shouldn't have said that."

Skye, ignoring her annoyance, looked up and then poked herself. "Really all better?" she exclaimed, her voice brimming with surprise. "Can I get out of bed? Can I have my schnitzel?"

"We still need to do a thorough check-up," Simmons said. "But I think you're fully recovered, Skye. Congratulations!"

"Okay, okay! I told you I'm ticklish!" Skye quickly pulled down her clothes and thanked Salomon. However, she felt that Salomon's gaze was very unsettling, like a hunter hiding in the jungle looking at its unsuspecting prey.

"Are you alright?" she asked.

"Excellent," Salomon said. The Kree's gene-editing technology definitely needs careful study; perhaps Asgard also possesses this technology? And maybe we could recruit the Inhumans, a race completely unrelated to outer dimensions?

"You don't care about this mission at all! Kamar-Taj sent you here to carry out a mission!" Sif protested to Salomon. "Odin has ordered me to capture the Lorelei alive. It's the Allfather's command, and even though this is Earth, you have to cooperate. I want the living Lorelei!"

"Really?" Salomon's tone subtly rose. "I know about your feud with Lorelei. Can you really suppress the urge to kill her?"

A biting northern wind swept across Sif's face in an instant. "I can. I am a warrior of Asgard. My thoughts are irrelevant." This respected warrior took a deep breath, her clenched fist extended towards Salomon. "Do not question my loyalty, Salomon!"

"If..." Salomon trailed off, glancing at the SHIELD agent team surrounding Skye. The members of Coulson's team were overjoyed at Skye's recovery, but Coulson himself was preoccupied, his smile strained. He worried that his rash orders might have caused irreversible damage to Skye from GH325's side effects; this guilt gnawed at him like a cold, venomous snake, making it hard to breathe. The reason he had Salomon examine Skye was because Salomon knew the truth about GH325; he believed Salomon knew about the Kree.

Salomon turned to Sif and said, "What if... the one giving you the orders isn't a great god?"

"What do you mean?"

"I'm asking you, who told you that was a divine command?" Salomon changed his questioning approach. "Thor? Or Heimdall?"

"Heimlda." Sif instinctively looked up, but all she saw was the alloy ceiling of the Skybus. "You mean, Heimlda falsely claimed to be acting on the Great God's orders?" Sif tensed immediately. Heimlda was her brother, and she didn't want him to commit such a grave sin. "Why would he do this?"

"We can talk about this later." Salomon noticed Agent Coulson walking towards them out of the corner of his eye, so he quickly interrupted the conversation and turned to greet Agent Coulson.

Agent Coulson first thanked Salomon, then quickly shifted the topic to the mission, not lingering on Skye's situation. Clearly, he wanted to question Salomon privately. "We've sifted through police reports of unusual activity over the past 48 hours within a radius of several hundred miles," the dutiful agent said in his usual tone. "Combined with the profile provided by Ms. Sif, we've roughly identified several crimes that may have been committed by that Asgardian."

"Here, a jewelry robbery." Sif took the tablet from Coulson and pointed to one of the police reports. Coulson added that it was also a weapons shop robbery; the perpetrators hadn't concealed their identities, confirming they were from the local biker gang. "Are biker gangs all men?" After receiving an affirmative answer, Sif was certain who controlled the biker gang. Lorelei would definitely be looking for men to recruit for him, collect gold and weapons, just like six hundred years ago.

She's going to start a rebellion!

Thinking of this, Sif clenched her fists and looked at Salomon.

"You can't participate in this operation," she said in a low voice. "Even Thor can't resist her power."

"I'll repeat myself: I am the successor of the Sorcerer Supreme, I am the sorcerer of Kamar-Taj. Do you think that woman's voice can have any effect on me?"

"Remember, I want a living Lorelei!" Sif noticed the armored maid behind Salomon and realized something. She leaned closer, glaring at Salomon and emphasizing, "Living! Not a single finger missing!"
