Chapter 893 A Terrible Visit

Chapter 893 A Terrible Visit (First Update)

Bayonetta was naked, her beautiful figure exposed to the sunlight.

She stood in front of the full-length mirror in the bedroom for a moment, then picked up the dress she had just given up on ten minutes earlier from the hanger beside it. It was a black backless evening gown, which could be paired with black high heels. Next to it lay a dozen similar dresses. Joan of Arc was doing something similar, except she also had dozens of different styles of high heels next to the full-length mirror, searching for shoes to match her deep red dress. Only Salomon sat on the sofa in the bedroom, chatting idly with the Cheshire Cat in his arms about these nonsensical, noisy things that even he himself didn't understand—he had been sitting there for an hour and a half, racking his brains to praise the witches' fashion sense, trying to shorten the witches' dressing time in this way.

"This evening gown..."

Before he could finish speaking, the black-haired witch rolled her eyes at him, then went back to change into another outfit. She simply wanted to show Salomon what she was doing, and no matter what the sorcerer thought, it wouldn't disrupt her plans. It was as if she was following some mysterious cosmic truth when choosing her clothes, as unshakable as the Earth revolving around the sun.

"We're just visiting Cassilios, Bayonetta."

"If you take maintaining your relationships seriously, you should know that Cassirios might introduce us to his partner," Bayonetta's voice came from the dressing room. "He treats you like his child, so we must be polite. Look at this one, isn't it a bit too revealing?"

"Wow! Why didn't you wear this last night?" Salomon's eyes lit up.

"Because you always get your clothes dirty!"

"We can wash clothes just like we wash bed sheets, I think that's what washing machines are for!" The sorcerer spread his hands, looking completely innocent. "Besides, I'm not the one who's the showerhead."

"Fool!" Joan of Arc chuckled as she passed the sorcerer who had just been hit on the head by a supersonic clothes hanger, tossing out the insult before leaving with the plate of pastries her maid had just brought in. The hem of her deep red skirt brushed intentionally or unintentionally against Salomon's fingers resting on the armrest. "I'm ready to go, Ceresia!" she called out loudly down the corridor, stuffing something into her mouth (while carefully avoiding getting the pastry on her lipstick). "Hurry up, or we'll be late for dinner!"

Phoenix was somewhat disappointed that he couldn't visit, since Kasirius's new partner was an ordinary person. Salomon and the witch couldn't display too much supernatural power to avoid arousing suspicion, unless that woman became Kasirius's true partner, at which point Salomon could reveal Phoenix and his supernatural powers to her. In fact, the visit wasn't solely due to Kasirius's invitation; the Sorcerer Supreme also instructed Salomon to communicate with Kasirius frequently during this time, observing his mental state and dreams. Even powerful vampires can influence their surroundings, so Odin, the Allfather, certainly can. Kasirius's dreams would be a crucial clue for Kamar-Taj to investigate the Ragnarok prophecy. Salomon viewed the collapse of the Asgardian Empire as both a crisis and an opportunity for humanity, and therefore he spared no effort in gathering clues in this regard.

The Venerable One was pleased to see Kasirius emerge from the shadow of his wife's death, but the cracks in one's mind are not so easily mended. Once a spellcaster's mind cracks again, extremely dire consequences could occur. Moreover, the lifespan of ordinary humans is far shorter than that of spellcasters. Unless precious life-extending alchemical potions are used or the series of life-extending surgeries developed in the Immortal City are performed, Kasirius will inevitably have to experience another separation of life and death sooner or later. Therefore, Salomon's mission on this trip has been expanded to include persuading Kasirius to reconsider.

If Cassirius is serious, then he can offer help to help that ordinary woman live as long as possible.

Currently, only Gideon Malik enjoys this treatment. That old dog is now getting gray hair back at his temples, and to avoid suspicion, he even has to dye his hair and wear makeup to make himself look older. No one knows what methods Baron Mordo used, but Salomon is now nominally Kasirius's adopted child. Kasirius must have told his girlfriend the same thing, otherwise the woman who opened the door after he and the witch rang the doorbell wouldn't have seemed so nervous.

"You're Salomon, aren't you? My goodness, you're so tall!" The blonde woman in the apron forced herself to look surprised, opening her arms as if she wanted to give the sorcerer a hug. But then, Bayonetta and Jeanne, dressed elegantly and full of curiosity, walked into the entrance hall. She wiped her hands on the apron, feeling quite embarrassed, and gave up on her plan to show affection.

"Hello, Ms. Jacob," Salomon smiled and gave her a gentle hug. He saw the woman's effort to integrate into the family and naturally reciprocated. "These are my partners, Bayonetta and Joan of Arc," he introduced her. But before he finished speaking, the two witches bypassed him and shook hands with the woman. Salomon simply shrugged and handed the blonde woman a glass of red wine tied with a ribbon. "I think you'll like this."

"Oh! Okay!" The blonde woman held the bottle, her eyes wide, unsure of what to say for a moment.

Cassirios had never mentioned that his adopted son had committed bigamy, especially with two women of ridiculously good figures and outrageously beautiful looks. Perhaps due to their height and appearance, Salomon and the witch alone exuded an aura of intimidation, let alone the three of them standing together. This was almost unbearable for an ordinary woman; her earlier act of embracing had already exhausted all her courage. Seeing her like this, Salomon was very glad that Bayonetta had rejected his suggestion to dress formally—he had wanted to wear a tuxedo and carry an ornately decorated longsword to show his importance in a more formal way. But Bayonetta said it was too silly and would only frighten the poor woman. It was already unfair to her that Cassirios was hiding something from her; if she were also burdened with a foolish adopted son, the poor woman might break down on the spot and start crying and calculating the medical bills for the mental hospital.

She was applying lipstick at her vanity as she spoke, so Salomon couldn't help but glance at her out of the corner of his eye. Now Salomon thought Bayonetta had a point. Luckily, she was in charge of the household, otherwise, trouble would have ensued sooner or later. However, he also wanted to point out that the witches' clothes today were a bit too expensive; this wasn't a fashion show.

However, both witches turned a deaf ear to this and continued to do as they pleased.

"Come in quickly, Kasirius is preparing dinner. He's delighted you're here!" Lady Jacob managed to choke out these words, and Salomon had to discreetly put his hands behind his back, casting a spell to calm her. It would be terrible if she cried here. It must be said, Bayonetta and Joan of Arc were already starting to like her.

“We’re happy too.” Bayonetta blinked, gesturing for Salomon to follow. That little bit of magic wasn’t enough; the witch intended to completely relax her. “Let the men get busy in the kitchen; we still need to talk about women’s matters!”
