Wizard: This mushroom is too fierce.

Chapter 10: Kevin, the Apprentice Candidate

"Oh, right, when the academy sent you here, they should have told you that I was pursuing the 'Transcendental Cultivation' specialization within the Summoning School, right?"

"When you have time, go to the public library and look up the magical beasts and plants in the Youdong Basin. Then choose one you want. I hope you will have made your choice by the time I summon you next time."

Roland stopped in his tracks, then turned around and asked, "Teacher? Are there any special requests?"

Ashius yawned, stretched, revealing his muscular physique, and turned to go upstairs: "I don't have any requirements. Even ordinary plants are fine, as long as you like them."

"In this sub-direction, we can use summoning magic to selectively cultivate some powerful magical beasts or magical plants. Just remember to pick one that catches your eye."

"Alright, I'm going to sleep now. You can leave!"

"How about a walking mushroom?" Roland suddenly asked.

"Are you sure you want to choose the Walking Mushroom?"

"Teacher, is it not allowed?"

Roland's question made Ashus stop in his tracks. He paused and thought about how his school's teachers and predecessors all seemed to have chosen powerful creatures, and no one had ever chosen such a weak one: "Roland, I didn't expect your taste to be so unique... You even like such a weak magical plant."

"Sure... as long as you're not afraid of the trouble... and are willing to be the first wizard to try this approach."

After leaving Ashus's magic hut with a large amount of stuff, Roland was immediately teleported out of the space.

"Honorable Wizard, Torell Raehorn the Minotaur pays his respects!"

A deep voice rang out, and Roland looked up to see a burly male minotaur standing before him.

His body was two heads taller than a normal human, and his entire body was covered with thick, coarse, white and brown hair. Seeing that Roland was fully awake, he placed his broad palm on his chest, lowered his head slightly, and solemnly bowed: "My lord, I am Lord Ashius's servant. My master has ordered me to come and assist you in moving, relocating your residence from the outer dormitory of the academy to this place."

"I understand." Roland nodded slightly and walked out of the building.

"My lord, please wait, I have prepared a carriage for you!" Roland had just stepped out of the church when he glanced around and saw a black four-wheeled carriage with the tribal totem emblem hanging on it parked by the roadside.

The carriage was made of thick materials, and the wheels were wrapped in shock-absorbing animal hides. Two robust horses stood quietly, their aura both gentle and powerful, clearly two fine horses.

Torrel gently lifted the carriage curtain with his thick arm, his tall frame deliberately lowering his shoulders to avoid his horns hitting the roof, his posture extremely respectful: "Sir, please get in the carriage. The journey is not far, but your time is extremely precious. How can you be distracted by such a trivial matter?"

"Thank you for your help, Torrell."

Roland nodded slightly, stepped into the carriage, and then expressed his gratitude.

"My lord, there is no need for thanks. Lord Ashius said that this is the treatment his student deserves."

Roland nodded, then took out a book from his storage ring and began to read it on his own. He didn't really care about these things; on the contrary, he was more interested in what special runes were.

What is hunting? The mysteries of wizards are truly endless; he still has so much to learn!

Seeing this, Torrell grinned憨厚ly, turned around, boarded the carriage, and began to gallop towards the dormitory area, brandishing his whip.

......

Back in the dormitory area, Roland was followed by the minotaur "Torrell," who attracted a lot of attention. Some people who knew Roland came up to him and asked, "Roland, what's going on?"

Roland looked up and found that it was his neighbor, Kevin Shengkesi, who was also a first-class talent.

"I have become a wizarding apprentice and will soon be living near my mentor's place. I have returned to retrieve my belongings."

As soon as he finished speaking, Kevin's pupils contracted slightly. He asked incredulously, "How is this possible? You and I are both first-class wizards. How come you can meditate so quickly?"

"Have you found some shortcut?" Kevin's eyes turned red, and he became somewhat agitated, questioning her in a commanding tone.

As soon as he finished speaking, the surrounding prospective apprentices who were watching the commotion immediately started discussing among themselves. Everyone knew how difficult it was to become a wizard apprentice. Many prospective candidates with second- or third-class aptitude had not become wizard apprentices. Why was Roland, with first-class aptitude, able to get ahead of everyone else? There must be a secret behind this.

Roland frowned, first glancing at the prospective apprentices whose eyes were gradually brightening as if they were eager to try, then turning his gaze to the tall, thin man in front of him.

He vaguely remembered Kevin; he recalled that Kevin was a descendant of a great noble family. When they studied together before, Kevin was always very polite to everyone. How could he have changed so much in such a short time and become so emotional?

"Roland, say something! Have you really found a shortcut? If you have, can you tell me?"

"I can buy it. I have gold coins. I am a prince of the Kingdom of Tuleku. Don't you remember you are a descendant of knights?"

"Just tell me, and I will bestow a title upon you, allowing you to truly transcend class and become a nobleman."

Kevin, growing increasingly agitated, reached out his hand, trying to grab Roland and force him to reveal how to become a third-class wizard apprentice.

Roland took a step back, dodged Kevin's outstretched hand, and then walked towards his dormitory on his own.

"Roland!" A roar suddenly rang out, and a thin yellow veil suddenly appeared on Kevin's body. Roland turned around, slightly surprised. This rather thin neighbor was actually a knight's squire.

Based on the fact that his battle aura manifested as a cloak, Kevin should be a high-ranking knight's squire who is only one step away from being a knight.

"Does Your Excellency need my help with this trouble?" Torell bowed to Roland and asked, "I am a warrior from the orc world."

"You have to tell me today, or you won't be able to leave."

Kevin has gone mad. At the normal pace, he will never pass the academy's assessment and will become the academy's debtor.

How is this any different from the slaves in his own kingdom, whose lives, deaths, and shame are all in the hands of this prince?

He is a prince, a nobleman, the master of this world, and deserves to enjoy the life of a true wizard!

"This is the academy, Kevin. Are you really ready to make a move?" Roland refused Torell's request, remaining neither humble nor arrogant, and was not intimidated by Kevin's madness.

Roland coldly retorted, "I am a third-class wizard apprentice. According to the academy's laws, any mortal who shows disrespect or aggression towards a third-class wizard apprentice may be executed on the spot!"

"Kevin, think about what you've been doing all this time?" Roland glanced around at everyone and said coldly, "The same goes for you!"

"Among you are many apprentices with third- or second-rate qualifications, but what has been the result?"

"After arriving here, you all thought you were still nobles, partying, socializing, indulging in lust..."

"Everything is a cycle of cause and effect!" Roland said, then silently added in his heart, "Even less than that 'Roland' who dared to risk his life for his future."

The Roland in my memory was so resolute. His talent was terrible, terribly terrible. Even among first-class wizards, he seemed to be in the worst category. Therefore, in the end, he risked everything and joined the experiment 'Echoes of Magical Plants'.

"He sacrificed his life for the path of the wizard in his heart, becoming what the Council of Truth calls a martyr."
