Wizard: This mushroom is too fierce.

Chapter 14: General Education Classes and Gatherings

The next morning, Torrell brought breakfast: a loaf of bread covered in butter and a cup of finely brewed tea.

"My lord... please have your meal." Torrell placed the plate in front of Roland, then continued, "Lord Ashus wrote yesterday that a general course will be held today. Here is the time and place."

Roland glanced at it: "Building 6, Room 301, Academic Area, Time: 9:00 AM, Instructor: Suglint Cardi."

After finishing his meal, Roland boarded the carriage prepared by Torrell to go to class.

After getting off the bus at the college gate, Roland found that a queue had already formed.

After making some inquiries, he learned that it was because he needed to pay tuition.

The academy's teaching is not free; public courses and some other activities require the payment of magic stones to participate.

A basic general education course isn't expensive either; it's only one-tenth of the 2 magic stones loan.

After Roland finished delivering the materials, he went to the general education classroom.

There were very few people in the classroom. The teaching work in the academy seemed to be carried out in batches. A group of people who had become wizard apprentices would attend together. When there were enough people, the class would start. If there weren't enough people, they would wait until there were enough people until the assessment was over.

Suglint is a wizard with fire elemental runes. He didn't specify his research area, but he teaches a course on runes.

"Runeology is extremely profound. What I can teach you is mainly rune identification."

After he finished speaking, he ignored everyone's reaction and simply drew the corresponding basic runes on the blackboard.

All three runes were fire-attribute runes. One of the runes was triangular. Roland looked at it and thought it should be a meditation rune, the one that the candidate apprentice had when he first gained magic power after becoming a third-class wizard.

The other two runes are circular, with mysterious patterns engraved inside.

Suglint pointed to the triangular rune and the two circular runes and said, "These are the runes needed to construct the Fireball spell in a simplified form."

"Basically, our spellcasting and mana enhancement are inseparable from these runes."

"Take notes for yourselves. Of course, if you are interested in more profound fire runes, you can sign up for my private lessons."

"Affordable price, fair and honest, for only five hundred magic stones you can receive guidance from a first-circle Evocation school wizard specializing in burst magic."

Sugeringer's teaching was absurd; he mostly just read from the book and sometimes said things that didn't make sense. Roland was confused, but he didn't slack off because the improvement he gained from these classes was real.

[Current Progress: Basic Rune Arts (Beginner 18/50)]

The progress of rune literature is fast. Although Sugeringt's teaching quality is not very good, Roland is very interested in studying these things.

Today he learned a new concept in rune literature, which is about magic.

According to the wizard Suglint, there are three conditions required to use a spell. The first condition is knowledge, which is the corresponding spell model. This is the most basic thing to cast a spell.

The second condition is the corresponding runes. Taking the Fireball spell as an example, there is one main rune and two secondary runes. The main rune is the attribute rune condensed by the wizard. It is energy and an extension of mental power. The secondary runes are superconductors that connect the spell model in the mental world, allowing the spell model to be released at an extremely fast speed.

It's equivalent to a speed rune; based on Roland's current understanding, that's roughly what it means.

As for the third, it refers to the auxiliary materials and corresponding incantations for a certain spell. Specifically, it is a very general thing. Generally speaking, most conventional spells can be used as long as the first two conditions are met.

The class ended quickly, and many people were drowsy. Sugeringer's teaching method was too hypnotic. Many people couldn't stay awake even in the first class, but Roland listened with great interest.

After class, many people sobered up and instantly regained their energy.

After leaving the classroom, Roland headed towards Northwind City. He only had one general class today; the other two classes hadn't started yet due to insufficient enrollment, so he still had plenty of time to study on his own.

"Wait a minute, junior!" A voice suddenly came from behind, and a woman ran up from behind.

jingle jingle

The high heels made a crisp sound on the ground, and Roland stopped and looked back.

"Excuse me, senior, is there anything I can help you with?" Roland blinked, wondering when he had become so popular with women.

"Ah... junior, it's like this, the assessment period is almost over, and the Deep Caverns have a tradition of holding a party for newcomers to help everyone get to know each other quickly."

The female senior continued, "In addition, the Student Union and some local family freshmen will also be sponsoring this gathering with Magic Stones."

"If you are good enough, you can get a lot of magic stones at this party."

"Sponsored by Magic Stones?"

Upon hearing the words "magic stone," Roland's ears perked up instantly. Ever since becoming a third-class wizard apprentice, he had been spending money like water. The two thousand magic stones that his teacher had applied for for him from the academy for his three general courses and advanced meditation had all been spent before he even had a chance to enjoy them.

"Yes!" The senior student raised the corner of her mouth slightly and looked at the junior student in front of her, saying, "Here you go, this is the invitation. The time is three days after the end of this year's candidate apprentice assessment."

Please make sure you attend on time.

Roland nodded and accepted the invitation.

After seeing Roland put it away, the female senior ran away without looking back.

"Another kill." The girl smiled broadly, took out her notebook, and ticked a name. "Who's next?"

"It's easier to make money off new students."

"If only there were any of these people who could be chosen by the family wizards... then I could make a fortune."

After the female senior left, Roland squinted and looked at her again, only to find that she had quickly found a new target, another boy who had attended the open class that day.

Suddenly, a name popped into his mind: Wizard version of the broker?

There must be some profit to be made, Roland thought to himself, otherwise who would do something so thankless and exhausting?

Upon leaving the academy, Torell's carriage was already prepared, but this time it wasn't him who came; instead, it was a rather thin minotaur.

"Quinn, where's Torrell?" Roland asked as he got into the car.

Quinn was a minotaur still growing, with black and white fur all over his body and eyes full of youthful energy. He first pulled on his whip, then said with a wry smile, "Lord Ashus has sent my father to explore the underworld. He probably won't be back for a while."

"Exploration?" Roland's face showed curiosity. "What happened?"

When Quinn heard Roland's question, he quickly explained, "It's said that a dark wizard is causing trouble and has released some mutated monsters into the cave."
