Wizard: This mushroom is too fierce.
Chapter 6: Irina
As midnight approached, the moon and stars were few.
In Roland's dormitory, rows of plump, white walking mushrooms, under the command of Comrade Jin Duoduo Puji, stretched out their little hands, raised their mushroom caps, and enthusiastically ran towards the great king.
"One two one...one two one"
They marched in orderly steps, overcoming numerous difficulties, and finally stopped before the great king sitting amidst the plants.
A gentle breeze stirred, and Roland's golden hair fluttered. He opened his eyes and saw a magic stone that had appeared before him. He smiled, then reached out and touched all the Puji standing in front of him to express his gratitude.
For the past month, the treasure-hunting mushroom "Golden Dodo" has been incredibly lucky, finding a magic stone every three days. At first, Roland had to work with it, but after it became more skilled, Golden Dodo started remotely commanding the walking mushrooms cultivated by Roland, sending them out at night to search for treasures.
After a month, he did obtain ten magic stones, but Roland exchanged them all for spiritual potions for aspiring apprentices.
He is now only one step away from becoming a third-class wizard apprentice.
[Current Progress: Basic Meditation (Beginner 98/100)]
As he had predicted, data is just data, and even with the help of the drug, his meditation speed was decreasing at an alarming rate.
Drug resistance, mental fatigue, an increased number of runes to be inscribed... all these factors piled up, and sometimes Roland really wondered whether the Council of Truth allowing first-class apprentices to enter the Wizard Academy was a good thing or a bad thing.
Normally speaking, it would be almost impossible for a first-class apprentice to advance to the wizard apprentice level within the academy's stipulated timeframe without enough magic stones.
Roland pondered for a moment, but he really couldn't figure it out. He was still a novice in the wizarding world, so he couldn't understand the mystery.
I just feel that the Truth Council must have its reasons for doing this.
.......
The next morning, Roland was studying 'Basic Magical Plant Science' in his dormitory when there was a knock on the door.
Roland looked up, put down the quill pen in his hand, closed his notebook, and slowly walked to the door and opened it.
"Ize? What brings you here?"
"Is there something you need?"
With disheveled blond hair and dressed in a black robe, looking slightly tired, Ize touched his head and explained, "Irina asked me to give you a message!"
"She hosted a gathering specifically for us wizarding seeds from the same place."
Irina?
Roland seemed to have some recollection of her; the daughter of the Duke of Bauhinia, like Ize, was a second-class talent, but she was arrogant and had never contacted Roland since arriving at the Deep Cavern.
Roland blinked, first letting Yize in, then poured a glass of water: "Have you not been resting well these past few days? You look so pale."
Ize frowned, sighed, and said, "It's because the time we agreed on with the academy is almost here. I can't sleep or eat properly when I think about what will happen if I don't break through to become a third-class wizard apprentice."
"I don't want to work for the academy my whole life; I want to travel all over the wizarding world."
Roland sat down, poured himself a glass of water, and said casually, "Thinking about it will do no good; it will only make you upset. The most important thing right now is to work hard at meditation and improve your basic meditation skills to the point where you can inscribe a complete attribute rune in your mental space in one breath."
"As for the gathering, I won't go. My time is precious, and I have many things to do and many things to learn."
Ize was slightly taken aback; Roland wasn't like this before.
"You refused Irina's invitation?"
"Isn't she your favorite?"
"Didn't you say you wanted to become her squire back in the Bauhinia Duchy?"
Ize looked at Roland, who was flipping through notes at the table, with an incredulous gaze. He simply couldn't believe where the silly boy who used to admire and love the princess to the extreme had gone.
Sa... Sa...
The pages turned, the pen moved, Roland remained meticulous, while Ize stood up and focused his gaze on the notebook.
The notebook was ordinary, even somewhat worn, with some pages showing frayed edges, indicating that the user had handled it many times.
Ize lowered his gaze and immediately noticed that there was a personal note at the bottom of each page, from beginning to end.
Upon closer inspection, each paragraph of text and each image was followed by densely packed notes.
Gradually, Ize's gaze changed, and he asked with mixed feelings, "These are all notes you made for basic plant science?"
Upon hearing Izzy's question, Roland nodded slightly and replied, "This is only a part, or rather, a third."
Closing his notebook, Roland pointed to the rest of the notebooks on his desk and explained, "These are all notes I've compiled, including my own thoughts as well as problems I encountered at certain stages of my studies."
"Of course, now they have all become knowledge that is completely under my control."
[Basic Magic Plant Studies (Maximum Limit Reached)]
[Level: lv1]
[Effect: Increases learning progress in the Magic Plant category by 10%]
After this period of study, the book's level has been upgraded from [Proficient] to [lv1]. In addition to the knowledge recorded in the book, it also provides Roland with a small bonus buff, allowing Roland to learn more about magical plants more quickly.
The radiance emanating from Roland felt strange to Izzy, and his feelings became quite complicated. He wanted to leave this place immediately.
My brother has changed; he's become so studious and has even achieved academic success.
Before leaving, Ize asked Roland about his progress in meditation, since becoming a true student of the Deep Caverns wasn't about assessing magical plant science, but ultimately about assessing meditation.
"I should be able to break through in a few days, construct an attribute rune, and thus possess magic power, becoming a third-class apprentice."
Ize /(ㄒoㄒ)/~~...
......
After conveying Irina's invitation to the party to everyone, Ize went to Irina's place.
Irina was a beautiful young woman who, even though her living conditions were far worse than in the Bauhinia Duchy, still maintained her elegance.
"Irina, I've relayed the message to everyone. Everyone else agreed, except for Roland, who refused."
"Thank you, Ize!" Irina gave Ize a noble bow to express her gratitude before returning to her room.
The moment she returned to the house, her face darkened instantly. Someone from the Bauhinia Territory dared to refuse her invitation.
What a shame!
But then she recalled Roland's appearance and his laughable first-class talent: "Roland?"
"Fine... if they don't want to come, they don't want to come. Anyway, Roland wasn't my main target."
